Lark

Name: Lark

Species: Elf /Drow

Gender: Female

Evil/Good: Evil

Age: 36 (human years)

Mature Adult at: 18 (human years)

Appearance: Lark’s skin on her feet and hands is mottled with a black and a pale skin tone. Her ears are long and pointed. Her eyes appear to be a greyish shade. While her hair cascades over her shoulders and down to her bottom being a silky white sheen.

As she had been instructed as a child, she wears warrior outfit, but she made it, so it looks different from the standard outfit children were supposed to wear. She looks like this: <a href="http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/229 ...

I haven't coloured the picture yet, but I shall momentarily. And it tis crappy, i know. I sketched it too fast. Buh.
Lark carries a white staff that secretly splits in half into two swords. She uses this staff for a walking stick. Along with her staff she has two small daggers attached to her right thigh.

Personality:
Lark is reserved and a bit of a shy person, yet she will let her voice be heard if its an important issue or matter. Despite her common shy appearance, she’s sneakier than most. She enjoys making fun of people without them knowing it was her. And she likes to scare people especially at night. Some would consider her a coward for her hidden appearance. But she likes it nonetheless. True to her word.

Abilities: She is a ventriloquist and has nocturnal vision.

Family:
A foster father- Rinlegde
None other that she knows of…

History:
Lark was born of a light elf who was the mother of Nailoc ( played by Remagoen), yet their mother had an affair with a drow who was Lark’s real father. Lark is Nailoc’s half-sister. In these troubled times of war and havok the elves fought one another and Nailoc left a few days after Lark had been born. Lark never knew her half-brother.

She was abandoned as an evil baby in the middle of a warzone amongst rotting corpses and vultures who frequently feasted on these fallen bodies. In the dark of the night, a male drow was out walking in a close by forest, when his keen hearing picked up the sounds of a baby crying. He carefully, and cautiously made his way around the dead until he found the child. Holding the baby in his arms, he hurried back to his underground home, clutching the tattered rags wrapped about the baby as tightly as he did the child.

Rinlegde, the drow, raised the child as his own. He named her Lark after the way she cried at night, sounding like a small bird calling for help. He would comfort her, he was always there for her. She loved him and thought of him as her real father. When she grew older, she never joined in the singing of the Night Festivals, but she would dance. She would dance with her whole heart, which made Rinlegde smile, but he was disappointed everytime she would sit with a blank face and not join in the singing.

Thinking it over one night, Rinlegde figured maybe the reason she didn’t sing was because she felt a longing for someone or something, and she didn’t feel strong enough to participate. He never knew Lark’s real parents, but he told her the next night that she wasn’t actually related to him. This brought tears to her eyes as she felt like he was throwing her out, and later on, she took off; leaving merely a note and a one of her hair pins behind. The note read:

Dearest father,

I understand I am just too much of a burden to you.
Please forgive me for my leaving. But, you would
Have gotten rid of me soon enough. I still love you.
And you are still the father I will always recognize.

Love your little girl,
Lark

Rinlegde was devastated. Lark had misunderstood everything Rinlegde was trying to explain to her.

Anything else we need to know about you: Um. No. Oh. She has no “special” powers/magic.

A few lines IC (In Character) of your character entering the Forest:

Lark trudged through the wastelands for many nights, sleeping during the day, and using her nocturnal vision to her advantage.

Before collapsing, she barely noticed the large forest a few feet in front of her. Her eyes shut, and she lay almost lifeless. Her breathing short as she coughed a few times. Her face against the dry, cracked ground, the only liquid still within her body slowly rolled out of her eyes. A wet spot for a few seconds against the hot ground then dried up. It was evening, she had made good progress tonight. But what did she know. She lay asleep, or was she unconscious? Her eyelids flittered, a sign she was dreaming.
OOC: You seem a little lonely here, and since I'm looking for some action I'll play with you. Even though Lark is evil, she doesn't seem to be too malevolent. Please tell me otherwise if she is, for the sake of the role play, and my character, who is good.)

Circe Crystalhorn had been trotting for several hours, up and down the forests edge, a little undecided as to what she should do. She knew that someone needed to accept her, though she wasn't quite sure how that would work. Oh well, it would go as the Fates will have it.

Besides, the unidrake had been away for some time, so all she was doing was looking for some one to talk to. Surely there must be some beast around somewhere. She had just reached a spot she knew to have been empty a while ago, but which was now taken up by a smallish creature, an elf of some sort, who seemed to be lying unconcious on the ground.

Dearie me, she's exhausted, Circe thought. The unidrake cautiously approached, part of her equine heritage, though the dragon in her was like "No problem, let's check it out. What can happen?"

She never thought about the fact that she was an odd sight, even for the forest. She was, for the most part, an even mix of Unicorn and Dragon (wind drake). She had large feathered wings, a very long and thin, serpent-like tail that forked two-thirds of the way down into a large membraned tail rudder, four hooved toes, instead of two or one, and scattered scales that made her glimmer in the light, as if someone had poured glitter on her. She was a pure silver white with breathtaking colors for accents, and her scales, horn, hooves, and eyes reflected the light like prisms (while resembling the finest cut diamonds).

She had reached the elf drows side, and she sniffed curiously. She was a female creature, and lay face down on the hard dry ground. Circe nudged her face with her soft nose, then rolled the elf over onto her back. A neat bed of soft grass grew underneath her, providing a little more of a comfortable place to lie.

Circe walked around her, compensating for very little to no depth perception, a down for her, but not much of one. She bent and touched her horn to the elfs forehead, carefully revitalizing her strength.

"Do you sleep, or in a deeper oblivion do you lie?" she asked in her voice, which sounded like a subtle blending of soft winds.

((OOC: gyaaah >.o;; I’m so sorry about not replying sooner! I’ve had a writing block and been busy with school and such! I shall try to be more timely! ^-^; and by the way you are an excellent writer :: claps :: ))

The sound of two winds flying passed by the dark-skinned elf’s ears in the form of a voice,

"Do you sleep, or in a deeper oblivion do you lie?"

Lark’s head raised, her orbs a dimming grey, sweat dripping from her forehead, the elf was unnatually unalarmed by the other creature’s appearance beside her. Instead she thought of it as a grace bestowed upon her. She spoke but her voice had vanished and her mouth was merely moving with no words. She coughed, hacking slightly. “Waaaaaatterr…” She whispered hoarsly, panting as if she had just had a panic attack.

All she could see was the creatures strange looking body with an odd light draped over her back like a robe of a mighty queen, yet all around the elf was utter blackness. She could faintly see the outline of large trees, the outlines taking on weird colours like pink, orange and blue, but she coughed again, and tried to sit up, the brown dirt clasping to her long white hair.
Oh, she was in trouble, Circe thought. She looked around for a source of water, but where was she going to find it in the heart of summer?

Meh, she could have kicked herself. She pushed her horn at the ground and there grew a plant. It was a peculier plant, not native to this clime, but it was known for the great amount of water it stored in its tissues. It was round and covered in long spines. It was a barrel cactus.

A little magical manipulation produced a hollow reed, and turned the inside of the cactus to mush, and then water. She poked a hole near the top, then nudged the reed toward the drow.

"Have you ever used a straw?" she asked. "I'll help you sit up, but you must stick the reed through the hole yourself. I lack the thumbs to succeed."

Circe pushed Lark into a sitting position, carefully steadying her with measured amounts of her own strength.

Lark picked the straw up with a tint of curiousity but no more than her primary emotion of dry need of the water element. Her lips pursed, as she inserted the straw into her mouth after fumbling with the reed a bit and sucked in the liquidy mess. She sighed, but continued to drink, as the water was excessively cooling, and she felt her strength growing bit by bit.

At last she put down the straw, and rubbed her eyes, a tiny breeze billowed through the trees inside the forest but stopping before it reached the mottled drow. Panting a little, and turning her head, she nodded to the draynicorn in gratitude.

"Whatt be your nname dear friend?" She asked after catching her breath, making an effort to smile politely.

Circe could see the drows strength returning as she drank from the cactus.

"My name is Circe," she said. "I am a dranicorn. What's your name? And how is it that you are in such a state?" she asked.

"A Dranicorn? Hmm I have not heard of those like you " She lifted her head to glance at the sky for a split second, before returning her gaze to Circe. "You have a very beautiful name. Circe..Circe, it really rolls off the end of your tongue, you know. Heh"

She smiled earnestly now, and laughed at her own talk. She felt like something was opening up within her. An isolation from common others had been enforced for so long, she had not known what use the outside world really was, and what it was like.

Lark felt nearly all her energy restored now, she looked at her hands, and brushed the dirt from both of them as she got to her knees and then stumbled to her feet. Wobbling slightly, she stood, and smiled again. "My name is Lark. And I don't know how long, but" She stepped backwards from dizziness and swayed for a moment before her composer returned, "but, it must have been a long time traveling. The dry land beyond..."

She pointed to it, "is exeedingly cracked, and deserted. Deserted by all things, plant, animal, microbe, you name it. Hence there is no water, which you came to find me lacking." Bowing, the drow's white silken hair tumbled over her shoulders with the downward turn of her elegant head.

"I thank you kindly for your aid in my misfortune. I owe you my life."

The mottled drow had never spoken such great language and she worried something might be happening within her. Lark, could not for the life of her, understand the place from which these words poured from her lips.

Circe bobbed her head, and walked up to the drows side, offerring her flank for support, as she swayed.

"I am one of a kind, I think," she said. "I have yet to find another like me." She smiled with a hint of her old shyness. "My mother named me Circe. She really loved that name. Come, let's get you into the shade of the trees. But whatever you do, don't eat the moss. It is vile, foul beyond description, and will make you sick."

"Ah," She gasped in gratitude, "Thank you" She took Circe's body as great support and walked slowly with her over to the canopy's shade.

Avoiding the moss, Lark smiled again, a pleasant sort of magic smile, that might make anyone tell their deepest joy within their hearts, but she still felt unsure of this new emotion she was experiencing. It was strange to her, but she thought she might just come to like it. It made her feel as if she were flying.

"I greatly appreciate your befriending of me" Lark bowed her head and laughed jovially. If one was able to see auras, Lark must have been changing from black to purple.

So... Circe, what is this place?
The drow figured it wouldn't hurt to start a new conversation, since she felt a tad repetitive in her thank yous.
Food?

Post by Lady of the Jade Rose »

"You are on the edge of Deep Forest," Circe said warmly. "You have successfully crossed the wastelands, and you are free to make your home here, if you want. You can go anywhere, the Forest, the River, the Mountains. -Are you feeling better? You don't look so pale as you were. Here, why don't you sit in the shade for a bit. Do you have food? I could grow you some apples, or whatever you want."

"Ah yes..." D'arkem replied gratefully and scooted up to sit in the shade, yet avoided the moss which Circe had talked about earlier "Yes, I am feeling much much better. She meant 'up' as opposed to underground where she had lived for many years of her life.

"Apples?" The drow questioned thoughtfully, flipping some white hair over her bare shoulder. "What are apples?" D'arkem had never heard of such a thing before, since she had lived beneath the ground, she had only eaten vegetables and a type of calming fruit that her father created out of thin air when she was upset.

Circe was a little perplexed. “You’ve never had apples before? Well...well, then I shall open you you to a new taste.”

The dranicorn touched her crystalline horn to the ground, and there was a little glow, then she stepped back as an apple tree sprouted in fast forward, resulting in a neat and tidy tree just loaded with the round red fruits called apples.

Circe gently plucked one from it’s branch and dropped it in Lark’s lap. “An apple is a fruit that grows on a tree, like that. They can be red, green or yellow, and can be used for different purposes. They are crunchy and sweet. Go ahead and try one.”
"ooOOoOooo" Lark marveled at the fruit, and turned it around in her mottled hand. "Its very pretty." She mentioned dazily before lifting it to her mouth and plunging her teeth into the crispy red skin, and breaking away the sweet textured insides.

"Mmmmm" Lark smiled casually, but excited at the same, as she munched on the bite of apple she just took. "There's more where that came from," she said. "A whole host of fruits and vegetables. Have you ever had pineapple? It's delightful and sweet."
