Re: The new doctor.
Well, this'll be interesting. So Brian Minchin, the guy who produced the Sarah Jane Adventures is taking over as a show runner, but they're getting a 55-year-old actor best known for his creative use of the English language to play the Doctor... I wonder what direction they'll be taking it here
...
Oh wait, just looked Minchin up, and before he was a producer on SJA, he wrote a bunch of Torchwood episodes. There we go, I get it now.

He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."

Re: The new doctor.
He promises to be a darker, grimmer version of the Doctor, maybe more like Christ Ecc. was as the ninth doctor. I look forward to it.

Wait, what? I seem to have completely missed this O.oThe_Vizir wrote: So Brian Minchin, the guy who produced the Sarah Jane Adventures is taking over as a show runner
As for Peter Capaldi, I watched the reveal and the moment he was, well, revealed, I just grinned. Perfect! I am very much looking forwards to the new Doctor!
...
So, that'll be like late spring of 2014, right? Not counting the regeneration scene, which I am totally assuming will be kept till the very end of the Christmas episode.

Re: The new doctor.
A few web series I watch regularly are taking lines from Capaldi's character Malcolm Tucker from The Thick of It, and prefacing it with variations of "and as the 12th doctor says..."
It is truly a glorious thing.

The 50th really didn't reveal much for the Christmas episode in the end, but at least it does hint at the next season!Melody wolf wrote:but we'll have to see the outcome of the fiftieth to see the kind of path they're preparing to take as we move it on towards the end.

Re: The new doctor.
Also, apparently the Metacrisis Doctor from Journey's End was a legitimate regeneration, and the Valeyard was a possible version of the 10th Doctor who went off the deep end and became the Timelord Victorious. The 12th Doctor is actually the start of a new cycle somehow or something.Gaeva Winged Unicorn wrote:The 50th really didn't reveal much for the Christmas episode in the end, but at least it does hint at the next season!Melody wolf wrote:but we'll have to see the outcome of the fiftieth to see the kind of path they're preparing to take as we move it on towards the end.

I swear Moffat's just making it up as he goes along here.
