IT IS...
...the first Turn of the Seventh Pass. After twelve Turns of leadership by an ineffectual Weyrwoman, after a catastrophic first threadfall that cost almost two dozen lives, the people of Benden Weyr wake to a bittersweet news: the Weyrwoman has been murdered. In light of her death, the Weyrleaders of Pern have agreed to send two junior goldriders from other Weyrs to help the struggling Weyr back onto its feet. Now all that Benden has to do is find some way to pull itself out of a long, deep rut.
