What Are You Listening To 2.0?

Post by The_Vizir »

I wanted to name this What are You Listening To 2.0: UV and the Philosopher's Chamber of Goblets of Prisoner Half-Blood Deadly Phoenixes ... but it wouldn't fit! *shakes fist in rage at Boss Lady* Nonetheless, can't be Away from the Woods without a What Are You Listening To Thread.

In case you don't know the purpose of this thread, it's for just posting whatever song/piece of music/composition/background noise/whathaveyou that is filtering through your ears at that specific point in time and space. Some link youtube videos to songs, some paste lyrics, some discuss how they feel about that piece of music (Usually ZOMG AWESOME or some variation thereof), some attempt to get others to listen to the song, and some do all of the above. Try not to double post, but I don't think anybody'll rage on you if you do so.

That should be all! Now... let's see how long it takes to get back up to 3000 again, shall we? :grin
He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."

U2 - Beautiful Day

The heart is a bloom, shoots up through stony ground
But there's no room, no space to rent in this town
You're out of luck and the reason that you had to care,
The traffic is stuck and you're not moving anywhere.
You thought you’d found a friend to take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand in return for grace

It's a beautiful day,
The sky falls
And you feel like it's a beautiful day,
Don’t let it get away

You’re on the road but you’ve got no destination
You’re in the mud, in the maze of her imagination
You love this town even if that doesn’t ring true
You’ve been all over and it’s been all over you

It's a beautiful day,
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day,

Touch me, take me to that other place
Teach me love, I know I’m not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
See the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colours came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
A beautiful day

Touch me, take me to that other place
Reach me, I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don’t have you don’t need it now
What you don’t know you can feel it somehow
What you don’t have you don’t need it now
You don’t need it now
He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."

The fan blowing.
I'm blaming it for my recent bout of drowsiness.
The sound is soothing ~

Shinedown - Sound of Madness

Yeah, I get it, you're an outcast
Always under attack, always coming in last
Bringing up the past, no one owes you anything
I think you need a shotgun blast, a kick in the ass
So paranoid, watch your back

Oh my, here we go

Another lose cannon gone bi-polar
Slipped down, couldn't get much lower
Quicksand's got no sense of humour
I'm still laughing like hell

You think that by crying to me
Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe
You've been infected by a social disease
Well, then take your medicine

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain
Somehow I'm still here to explain
That the darkest hour never comes in the night
You can sleep with a gun
When you gonna wake up and fight
For yourself?

I'm so sick of this tombstone mentality
If there's an afterlife then it'll set you free
But I'm not gonna part the seas
You're a self-fulfilling prophecy

You think that by crying to me
Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe
You've been infected by a social disease
Well, then take your medicine

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain
Somehow I'm still here to explain
That the darkest hour never comes in the night
You can sleep with a gun
When you gonna wake up and fight
For yourself?

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain
Somehow I'm still here to explain
That the darkest hour never comes in the night
You can sleep with a gun
When you gonna wake up,
When you gonna wake up and fight?

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain
Somehow I'm still here to explain
That the darkest hour never comes in the night
You can sleep with a gun
When you gonna wake up and fight
For yourself?

When you gonna wake up and fight
For yourself?
When you gonna wake up and fight
For yourself?
When you gonna wake up and fight
For yourself?

When you gonna wake up and fight?
For yourself?
He asked us: "Be you angels?"

(Yes that was necessary... MOVING ON!)

The Offspring - Half-Truism

One is for envy
And one just for spite
The cuts in my heart
They show in your eyes
Don't make it better
The twisting knife
Turns all by itself
Move on to someone else

Your self-liberation
Will leave this behind
Beyond slings and arrows
That rain on our minds
You'll make it better
Shake it off
It never mattered anyway

If we don't make it alive
Well it's a hell of a good day to die
All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long
And it's ashes to ashes again
Should we even try to pretend?
All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long

The banner you're waving
Is burning and red
It's blocking the sunlight
That shines overhead
You against the world
Diamonds and pearls
Voices inside you churn
Watch the city burn

Your own liberation
Will leave them behind
All the slings and arrows
That rain on your mind
Don't make it better
Break it cause
It never mattered anyway

If we don't make it alive
Well it's a hell of a good day to die
All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long
And it's ashes to ashes again
Should we even try to pretend?
All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long

I won't come down...

The banner you're waving
The banner you're waving
Is burning and red
Is burning and red
You against the world
Diamonds and pearls
It never mattered
Mattered
Mattered
Anyway

If we don't make it alive
Well it's a hell of a good day to die
All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long
And it's ashes to ashes again
Should we even try to pretend?
All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long

All our light that shines strong
Only lasts for so long
He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."

2 weeks, no posts? What, are we not listening to things anymore, people? :P

Hammerfall - Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who lost control
Control
But in the end I'd be the
Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who sold his soul
His soul
Forever gone to be the
Last Man Standing
Tall

Glorious
Noble in my mind
Everything a fight to win
Taking all and giving
Whatever my pride would let me
Not backing down, not giving in
I wouldn't lose, I couldn't

I
I am the one
The one
Who lost control
Control
But in the end I'd be the
Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who sold his soul
His soul
Forever gone to be the
Last Man Standing
Tall

I walk alone
With my head held high
Never felt that I belonged
Stand my ground at all costs
Running through life with blindfolds
Just for the right - right to be wrong

Nothing would rule my world but…
I
I am the one
The one
Who lost control
Control
But in the end I'd be the
Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who sold his soul
His soul
Forever gone to be the
Last Man Standing
Tall

Nothing would rule my world but…
I
I am the one
The one
Who lost control
Control
But in the end I'd be the
Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who sold his soul
His soul
Forever gone to be the
Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who lost control
Control
But in the end I'd be the
Last Man Standing

I
I am the one
The one
Who sold his soul
His soul
Forever gone to be the
Last Man Standing
Tall

Seeing clearer what I've done
I'd refuse to let things go
I could never once admit I'm wrong
And what do I have to show?

Seeing clearer what's at stake
And the things I have to change
I just hope I can, it's not too late
To get a chance to end this pain

Sam Roberts - Hard Road

Feel,
Feel it grow
In your mind, in your mind
Life is how you live it
Through time, through time

And there's no desert sun that is hot enough to feed your fire
We shipwreck like fools only to become the ocean's choir

And the sun dies until it's reborn
And there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

Got lost on the way, but you found the road again
Stay true to your friends, 'cause they'll save you in the end

There must be something in the air, in the air
Some kind of answer to my prayers, to my prayers
Some kind of answer to my prayers

Been dying since the day I was born
'Cause there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

I have a vision in my mind of a life that I've left behind
Yeah, can't you see that lost souls can't swim
You know you'll sink, but you still jump in
And it's alright to get caught stealing back what you've lost
Yeah, don't you know that lost souls can't swim
You beat them back, but they drag you in
And I can't say that I am sorry for all my many sins

And you try to find a love that'll see you through your darkest days
And her soft brown hair is as long as the Canadian highway

When the sun dies until it's reborn
But there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

Been dying since the day I was born
'Cause there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

There must be something in the air, in the air
There must be something in the air, in the air
There must be something in the air, in the air
There must be something in the air, in the air
He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."

'Winter's Day Monologue' - Saturday Night at the Apollo

It's getting harder to believe
I'm thinking anybody else could see
The writings on the walls
But my notebooks on the shelf

And the pencil marks on paper
Slowly fade away with time
And all the memories keep blurry
Cause they're lost inside your mind

I'm wishing for a dream or two
Before the end of every day
So all the broken pieces mend
And I can put them all away

The little bits and scraps and parts of
The life behind my back
That I keep forgetting more of
But it needs to be like that

Hold me close I'm falling faster
Tell me this could last forever
Hold me close I'm falling faster

Hold me close I'm falling faster
Tell me this could last forever
Hold me close I'm falling faster

And now I'm dreaming of the nights
That we both remember well
And I'm sure I'm most asured that
The way you made me feel

Could be the greatest love I've ever felt
From anybody else
But everybody thinks I'm cruel
And I am here just for myself

Because "How could he really love her?
He's in it just for kicks."
And that's why we've lasted so long
Even though we are like this

So take take the moments that we shared
And don't you dare ever forget
That I will always be right here
Without a single soul regret.

Hold me close I'm falling faster
Tell me this could last forever
Hold me close I'm falling faster

Hold me close I'm falling faster
Tell me this could last forever
Hold me close I'm falling faster

(Musical Break)

Hold me close I'm falling faster
Tell me this could last forever
Hold me close I'm falling faster

Hold me close I'm falling faster
Tell me this could last forever
Hold me close I'm falling faster

Tom Cochrane - Life is a Highway

Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There's a world outside ev'ry darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate
To break down the garden gate
There's not much time left today

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood
I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

There was a distance between you and I
A misunderstanding once
But now we look it in the eye

Ooooo...Yeah!

There ain't no load that I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah

Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah

Arkells - The Ballad of Hugo Chavez

Hey hey hey

Hey hey hey

It was a bad idea
To give me this kind of time
When they said, "You're gonna be
In solitary confinement."

While the other inmates
Are outside lifting bar bells
I'm in an eight-by-ten, prison cell.

But in the night of the sun
Hey hey hey
Night of the sun
Hey hey hey
The night of the sun
Hey hey hey
Night of the sun

New state officials
Are outside running around.
They're telling the public
That I need to be put down.

And Washington's saying, emphatically
That I wasn't doing things, democratically

But in the night of the sun
Hey hey hey
Night of the sun
Hey hey hey
The night of the sun
Hey hey hey
Night of the sun
The sun...

It was a bad idea
It was a bad idea
To give me this kind of time
To give me this kind of time
It was a bad idea
He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."

Dragonforce - Last Journey Home

Strangers to reason, our bleeding hearts so cold,
Life brings a change in season, fear will blind the soul,
In the silence one moment alone,
Cast away scattered far on the wasteland

Sever the soul from the forgotten sickness, escape this life,
Challenge the dream before the long departed a mindless rhyme,
Whoa oh oh
Hear the burning thunder roar,
Whoa oh oh oh oh ohhh

Whoa oh oh
Still lost in a fire storm,
Tonight we feel the past return

Lost inside the dream, pass by the life we'll live forever,
Still the wasted time left burning below
One thousand shattered voices, lost inside in endless wonder,
Tonight her voice will take me home

Shine glorious we run, we stare into the blackened sky,
Save the last command, the virtue blinding,
So far beyond the sun, still burning with the fire inside,
Once alone again, silent stares for our last journey home

Shine glorious we run, we stare into the blackened sky,
Save the last command, the virtue blinding,
So far beyond the sun, still burning with the fire inside,
Once alone again, silent stares for our last journey home.
He asked us: "Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."
