A Heavenly Rest
Yue arrived at a place that seemed too good to be true. He felt nature really strong here, and could not help but smiling and laughing. Tae, Yue's friendly hawk companion, flew off in the air from Yue's shoulder. Yue began running through the fields of grass and flowers trying to keep up with Tae. He couldn't of course, so Yue shifted to his four legged lynx like form.
Yue ran fast enough to even pass Tae, and then felt a strong urge of wind that caused him to come to a complete stop in sheer awe. Yue switched back to his two legged elfish form, spreading his arms and closing his eyes.
"Do you feel that Tae?" Yue shouted at the hawk now gliding in the sky, Tae gave a squawk, Yue could tell it was Tae agreeing with him. Yue stood there for awhile, with his eyes closed, his arms feeling the wind. Tae was enjoying the open air above Yue.
"I know what this occasion needs!" Yue said jumping up and turning around, he pulled out his Talarina quite dramatically, then started to play a song, this one was happy. It was a song that Yue thought fit the mood of this wondrous place. He thought about heaven when he did it, and as he did a large beam of light started falling down from the already bright sky, and cast Yue in a brilliantly bright natural spotlight.

In the distance a few creatures of different species could be seen. And such a group existed of a playing children, mostly fawns and a few equine creatures. Among the latter was a black winged unicorn colt, playing heartily with his friends in what appeared to be an improvised game of tag. They were too far away and too involved in their play to notice the single figure further ahead in the Meadow, until the black colt looked out by sheer chance and spotted Yue as he stood on a low hill. Curiosity got the best of him, and after giving notice to his playmates, he happily trotted over.
Having come closer the unicorn colt heard the first few notes of the song. Surprised he came to a stop and looked at the figure still a little ways ahead of him. Curiously he listened to the notes carried down to him by the wind and started to smile. Without really noticing it, the colt started to walk closer again, mesmerized by the happy tune and eager to come closer so he could listen to it a little better. His pace increased with his little black wings spread out as he made a happy leap now and then. As the Jahran, the black colt, crossed the final distance seperating him from the music maker, he no longer cared who it was he was approaching, he just hoped he wouldn't stop playing that song! It was happy!
His little golden hooves didn't stop moving after they brought the colt to right in front of Yue, nor did his giggling pause for an introduction. It was just the music now.

Yue was too caught up in his song to notice the unicorn before him, which is good perhaps, because he might have stopped his song mid tune. So the song continued, and as he didn't like too much repetition he tried other rhythms including one near the end which he played in many songs with this similar emotion. As Yue had a tune for every emotion, not generic ones like "happy", "sad", or "angry", but more elaborately specific like in this case, "genuinely delighted with a hint at some sort of surrealism and too-good-to-be-true". He played that tune again at the very end and ended on that note. As the song ended the beam of light faded, and Yue slowly opened his eyes.
He saw a mystical creature before him. No - creature was the wrong term, Yue could sense the intelligence in him by looking into his eyes. Yue's own face was smiling widely, visible in his eyes more than his mouth. He had never seen such a being, and never would have dreamed he would when he left for his sort of pilgrimage. But here he was, staring possibly rudely and at a loss for words. Yue forced himself to say something, "My name is Yue." He set his hands together with the Talarina between them and gave a slight bow. "It is a pleasure to meet you."
Tae gave a friendly squawk from up above, swooping down and landing on Yue's shoulder, Yue chuckled, "He says his name is Tae." The rest of what Tae said was equivalent to "ignore Yue and pay attention to me as i am more cool." But when Yue didn't translate that Tae gave a second squawk. Yue chuckled again.

Jahran didn't mind in the least when the music maker ignored him in favor of continuing his songs, he didn't even really notice it as the colt himself was also being pulled into the flowing notes and enjoying it very much. Not staying still for even a moment he either moved his little golden hooves to dance to the music, or simply swayed his taila nd head along to the rhythem depending on the song being offered at the moment. It was all one song to him however, the different moods of each one flowing into the next as far as he knew, one big concert with only himself for an audience. An a happy audience at that. Jahran could tell when the last song came near it's end however. Something about the way the music maker was playing it let the colt know it would be over soon. As the last note faded away and the music maker opened his eyes, the black colt took a deep breath, savoring the last few tones of the music.
Then he found himself looking back into Yue's eyes and suddenly realized he was standing rather close to this stranger! Backing his ears he sucked in his breath, all kinds of warnings of "don't talk to strangers" and "two leggers are dangerous" flashing through his mind. Carefully he leaned back a little, indecisive of whether he should make a run for it and rejoin his group of friends in the far distance for safety. The music maker however was only staring back at him however, so Jahran hesitated. He had made that beautiful music after all, and supposedly bad people couldn't enter the Meadow after all. But what if this music maker would take offense to Jahran having stood so close to him without warning him? What if he got mad?!
Gulping Jahran watched the music maker open his mouth...and listened to his introduction. Looking over to the squawking bird the black colt slowly lifted his ears back up, then looked back at Yue and finally let a small smile appear.
"Hi, Yue, it's nice to meet you too..." and quickly back to the bird, "And you, Tae!" and back to the music maker, "I'm Jahran." His smile increased as he gained courage from speaking out loud, "I saw you and then I heard your song, and I thought it was real pretty, and I didn't want to disturb you, and I wanted to hear more, and so I stayed," he explained himself, still feeling a little sheepish. He lowered his head a little, shifting his ears back again a bit, "I hope you don't mind that I listened, but it really, really was very pretty!"
His dark black eyes moved to the intrument then, "What is that music thing?"

"Jahran," Yue repeated testing to see if he was saying the the name correctly. Tae gave another squawk. "Of course I don't mind that you listened!" Yue said with a smile, seemingly dancing around in place, "Music is like a blessing, not something one should hide in secret. And thank you!"
Yue held up his musical instrument, "Oh this? It is a Talarina, common in my village but i don't think you will find it anywhere else. For most it is a simple musical instrument, but our elder says some people have a special gift with it. Um..." Yue paused crossing his arms looking at the sky for a moment and noticing the wind before looking back, "Are you religious? I think it is a religious thing, somehow intertwined with nature. If you open your heart sometimes you can understand nature, and nature can understand you. Music in general can be a way to focus that, with the right intention and perspective. As what you might call 'druids' my people have a special gift for this, and some of us through the Talarina can communicate with nature. In rare cases, we can communicate in such a way as to have nature manifest itself physically. Sometimes to help, or other times just to enjoy the pleasure of one another's company."
Yue looked at the Talarina himself, then back to Jahran, "I'm sorry i tend to ramble when it comes to music, did that make sense?"

Visible relief spread over the young one's face as Yue assured he did not mind the uninvited audience, and Jahran relaxed, smiling for real now. Flicking his tail he took a couple of steps closer as the music maker started to tell him about the talarina, indicating the instrument he held. Genuinly interested the colt cocked his head a little as he studied the simple design, not quite grasping the shape of the item made for beings with arms, hands, and fingers. But he had seen Yue use it just now, and understood the concept. Looking up at Yue as he asked him a question, Jahran frowned. A religious thing? Was the "religious" also a musical instrument? He had no idea and felt a little embarassed for having to admit he didn't know what it was, but thankfully the narrator didn't need a reply to continue his explanation. So relieved once more the colt listened attentively, hoping to understand from the context of the story what it was. In the end, he didn't, but everything else Yue said on the other hand made complete and perfect sense to the winged colt, making his smile grow bigger until he was grinning, only holding back his eager reply out of politeness so as not to interrupt, though he was practically dancing to speak up.
"Yes! Yes, that made sense! I understand!" Feeling incredibly proud Jahran almost started to pant from excitement, "That's how we live as well! I mean, my people, my species, ehm, you know, right?" He was a little troubled he couldn't express himself very well. Giving up he shook his head and continued just as excited, "Anyway, we communicate with nature too! Well, sort of, no, I mean we do! But not until we grow up! Ehm, the grown ups do I mean, so not me, not yet, but when I'm a grown up I'll be able to talk to nature as well, but only when I open up to it, just like you said! That's our tradition, that's how we live!" His grin increased happily and his little hooves moved about excitedly for a moment. "We need a focus as well to do this, that's why only a grown up can do it. I wish we used music as a focus like you, because I really like music, but we don't. But then again, if that means you can only talk to nature when you're making music, then I'd have to make music all the time!" He thought about it for a moment, then his grin returned, "But I don't think I'd mind that at all, especially if I could make music like you," he motioned to the talarina with his nose, "But you need hands to do that," Jahran reared up for a moment, wiggling his front legs while giggling, then settled down all four hooves on the grassy ground again, "But I don't have any!"
Suddenly Jahran realized he was babbling and stopped, lowering his head a tiny bit and flicking his tail, "Sorry, Yue, now I was rambling too," he snorted with a sheepish smile.

"No I like the rambling," Yue said with a smile, "I feel bad sometimes about rambling, but if we both ramble then it cancels out right?" Yue laughed as his own logic, he was saying it sort of as a joke and thought it pretty funny.
Yue stretched his arms to the sky before interlocking his fingers behind his head. He liked what Jahran was saying, it made sense to him, Yue imagined what it would be like to play music all the time, that would be tough at first because his muscles and breathing would get exhausted. Then he felt a chill down his spine, the feeling of nature going through him, even when he was not playing music. "Well I think you will see you don't need music. Once you are able to talk with nature it will be so incredibly pleasing. Even our kind can hear it, even those of us without music. But for us music is how we talk, no, communicate back. However i can still hear it better when i play music. It is like the difference with talking and communicating. Without music i can hear nature, with music, I can understand it, and it me."
Yue wondered if he explained that well, he paused, moving his hands before him and tapping his chin with his left forefinger. Tae gave a squawk, Yue translated it, "Tae says he gets jealous sometimes because he can't play music. But he already can understand parts of it, and there is always singing!"
Tae began to make many squawks one after another in different pitches. In all actuality it wasn't very pretty, and possibly very painful depending on the ears. However there was something Yue at least found very adorable. And he knew with nature, it didn't have to be pretty. Even though Yue felt this way, he still could not help but chuckle at Tae's "singing".

Standing with his long spindly legs spread apart as he listened with a giggle to Yue, Jahran felt rather happy to have met him. He made everything sound so simple, it was easy to understand what he said! And his logic made a lot of sense to the young colt as well, one rambler cancels out the other rambler, because they're both doing it!
"Tae can sing!" he exclaimed through sudden laughter, surprised the bird had joined it. Now truthfully it didn't sound like singing to him, and he had flicked his sensative ears back in surprise at the sharp tones the bird emitted, but the idea behind him amused the youngster very much. His surprised laughter continued even after he had spoken and he made a few excited jumps from side to side in an improvised dance that matched the squawk of the bird.
Suddenly he stopped however, an ear flicking back towards where he had come from. Looking over the black colt watched where the group of other young beings stood, silently observing them for a moment or two before turning back to the musical pair.
Yue, I gotta go," Jahran said apologetically, "My sister says our aunt will be picking us up to go to the River now." He made a few quick leaps to quickly rejoin them before turning back one last time, "Nice to have met you, Yue! You too Tae! Maybe I'll see you again tomorrow!" With that the black colt sped back from where he had come, only to eventually disappear into the foliage surrounding the Meadow of Peace.

Sorry it took me so long to respond! I took Jahran out because I won't have time to RP anymore before the board goes into downtime. He made a new friend however, be assured the adult Jahran will remember Yue ^_^
