"Home" at Last <open>

OOC: O hai there. Um...this is just a little something to get me back into roleplaying. Maybe >_>. If I suddenly drop out feel free to email me and beat me or something. Anyone can join.

"I really should be going mom..." Ourania nuzzled her mother and felt her warm tears on her cheek. Ourania's violet eyes began to water as well.

"It was good to see you dear. Hurry back." Ourania nodded and gave her mother one last nuzzle. She turned to her dad. he walked over and nuzzled her as well.

"Come back soon. We love you." Ourania nodded and nuzzled back. She turned her head to the king and nodded.

Suddenly she was hurtling downward toward the familiar place she now called home. A gust of bitterly cold wind slapped her in the face and sent her spiraling sideways. Her wings caught her in mid-air and she regained her composure. Snow began to pile up on her mane as she hovered, trying to focus. "How long have I been gone?" she whispered to the sky.

The vibrant rainbow unisus floated ungracefully to the ground, the snow swirling angrily around her face. She immediately folded in her wings and shook the snow off. Looking around, she realized she had landed on the outskirts of the forest. "Just a bit further." she sighed and trudged through the snow, leaving deep hoofprints behind.

The forest floor was not as deep and more comfortable to stand on. A cracking sound caught her attention and she looked up. The sound got louder and she spotted a broken limb hurtling toward her. She disappeared instantly and reappeared in time to see the limb hit right where she was standing. "I haven't been gone long enough for you to forget me!" she shouted to the forest. Snorting, she began looking for a safer place to rest until the storm passed.

((OOC: Ahoy there. Glad to hear you're picking up the habit again. :DD ))

Ourania wasn't alone in the search. Some ways ahead, a figure was trudging along, though his gray and white coat made him rather tricky to spot in the little blizzard. 'Well... This sucks.' Devon had his arms crossed and wrapped close to him, trying to keep in as much heat as possible. It wasn't the same without fingers, but it was something. 'At least there's no worry of losing fingers and toes to frostbite. The ears, though...' As another advantage, he at least had fur; he'd have probably already frozen, were he still human.

He plodded forward steadily, shivering all the while, and knowing to keep the blood circulating. He had to keep moving... where, exactly? The donkey had a poor enough sense of direction when he knew the area, and the Forest was still an unfamiliar place. 'Just... keep going. There's bound to be somewhere warmer eventually.' The bit of optimism warmed him a bit.

Devon heard a crack overhead, and then a slight whistling sound as it shot back. 'Another branch. Good thing it couldn't hit anybody; I'm probably the only one dumb enough to be out on a day like this.' Moments later, his ears swiveled around, hurting a little in the cold; a voice said... something behind him. '... Then again...' He stopped, and turned, squinting into the swirling snow and winds. "Hello?" he called, "Anyone there?"

(Damnit I know I put this in HVR. I guess I didn't XD Urgh)

A cold burst of wind pushed the rainbow unisus through the forest. She could barely see what was ahead of her. The snow swirled violently around her, ruffling her wingfeathers and throwing her mane in her face. She carefully unfolded her wings and wrapped them around her.

The wind calmed some and she perked her ears. She could hear a voice and crunching snow nearby. Folding her wings again, she walked forward and peered around. The voice got closer. It wasn't a familiar voice but it did not seem evil or threatening.

"Hello? Anyone there?" She heard. A male voice. Raising her ears she called back. "Hello! I can't see you but I'm over here!" she shouted through the swirling mist of snow. Shivering through her winter coat, she trudged toward the voice.

((Eh? ... How isn't this Hidden Visions Reflected?

Also, sorry if the quality here isn't so hot; blargh on having to retype this post! And the random color change comes from my realizing the beauty of hexadecimal color codes))

Devon's ears confirmed the voice coming through loud and clear; it wasn't the first time he had thought he'd heard someone. "Ah! S-so the wind w-wasn't p-playing tricks," he called back. 'And now my teeth are chattering,' courtesy of an icy gust. He didn't find the stuttering too bothersome, really; occasionally braying over the past few days had given him some perspective.

Devon shook some snow from his shoulders. His fur had grown thicker than when he'd arrived, but not noticeably; a badly needed winter coat was still a ways off. He started toward the feminine voice, stepping mostly in his own recent hoofprints. It was probably overkill, but he had misjudged the snow's depth and fallen enough times to be cautious. He didn't have far to go before he spotted the shape coming through the snowstorm, and stopped. Black was the largest area and stood out best against the snow. Also of note was the bit of rainbow that seemed to whip around a clear head, and trail out behind the body. 'Huh. I wonder if she'll have a... colorful personality. ...' He decided to chalk it up to the cold and to be thankful nobody had heard him make that terrible joke. In any case, Ourania was in stark contrast to Devon's color diversity: the only areas neither gray nor white were the blue of his tattered pants, and the brown of his hair, mane, and tail tip. As she drew closer, he clearly saw she was a fellow equine, though he hadn't spotted the horn, and hadn't identified the 'growths' on her sides as wings.

Despite the odd bout of chattering teeth and everything else, Devon gave her a friendly smile. "W-We should save the introd-ductions f-for somewhere warmer. Kn-Know any p-place close?" he asked. 'Okay, on second thought, that chattering's pretty annoying.'
