My tail's been handed to me on a silver plate. I'm exhausted, have been falling asleep in the midst of chat and all that, haven't been keeping up with posts like I used to.
Please bare with me. I'm not sure how long this episode will last.

The complications are as follows:
Mom's job just found out she's been taking pain medications for her long-term head problems, due to all the accidents in the past. Claiming she is incompetent on the job because of this, they have removed her from the schedule this week and are conferring to one another. IE: she's going to be fired. And she's leaning on me until she gets another job, which I cannot handle at the moment.
Walked out on my job at Wawa last Thursday. I could not handle being criticized so much, with my mind and my life falling apart as it is. Currently dealing with the week of transitions, going from one job to my second, in which my pay will be less than substantial. Highly considering living on the street for a few weeks when the weather gets a little more cheeky - just to save up my earnings from my other job until I can go back to where I'm living now with some money saved up in my pocket.
One more week of classes.
Two more weeks until the final practical.

I hate to sound like I'm playing the devil's advocate here, but... had her performance/competency been called into question before anyone knew she was on pain meds or has her performance decreased recently? If so, it's still a sucky situation and one a good employer would try and work with the employee on first before letting the pink slips fly. Otherwise, yea, sounds like a BS decision on the employers end.

Well if it wasn't for the medication administered, she wouldn't have been able to function, period. Yes she has some pain med dependency, but honestly, had you ever seen her without the stuff ... My mother never had problems performing her job.
What happened was she was running extensive shifts for an entire week. Add this to struggling to drive people all over the place every day when she got home (me to pick up my checks, her roommate to pick up food), she rarely got any sleep. One night she was on her last call that was at a nursing home. Upon entering the establishment, she asked, "So what's with the patient?"
"What do you mean 'What's wrong'? He's going to dialysis."
"Well I'm unfamilliar with him."
So the nurse she spoke to called Mom's ambulance service and said that she 'wasn't acting right', which led to a slew of problems ...
The thing is that mom is technically covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. If they fire her, she could sue them.
