RUINS OF PARADISE ESTATE ~ StarCrosser's log

"I stand before a decaying signboard. The only letters which have escaped the merciless beatings of time spelled out '-DISE EST-', and nothing more. All before me lay ruins upon ruins of what used to be houses and recreational buildings. Far off in the distance, several miles away, the remains of a once magnificent castle could clearly be seen. I walked on, passing by a partially destroyed arch leading towards a dried up swimming pool. A huge crack could be seen at the floor of the pool, the source of the lost water. Walking further, I chanced upon a partially destroyed building which was once a childcare center. One of the walls have collapsed, leaving the building's contents bare on one side. I felt a chill when I saw an old, worn-out teddy bear lying on its right side on the floor staring back at me. I pressed on, passing by ruined markets and eateries, before coming to a library. The entire building seemed still intact. I went inside. It was partially dark inside, with only a handful of the Sun's rays penetrating through the glass windows. I walked past the multitude of shelves. I realized that it was a very large library. Then, I saw in a corner, with only the top of its head and down to its shoulders revealed by light, a pony! I galloped towards it excitedly, thinking that it was a survivor! But excitement melted into despair when I realized that it was only a statue, made for decoration. I stared at its face. It was smiling – a contrast to the expressions of anyone who has learned of the state of the land where I now stand. What happened here? What happened to everyone? These questions I could not answer by myself...”
