This is a general post to everybody in the forest from <a href="http://p082.ezboard.com/funicornsvision ... . Decide for yourselves whether you wish to respond to it and be involved in the end of both plots going on or not.

IC
A group of three exotic looking birds with large fancy tails appeared on the scene, quickly taking in the creatures here, and flying over their heads. A female spoke in her sing song voice, urgency obvious, "Gaeva has sent us, she asks for everybody to come to her in the Forest Village! She wants to find a way to get our abilities back!" One of the other three chimed in, "We are safer in numbers, there are dangers everywhere!"

With a few extra calls of urgency they took off again without waiting for a reply, flying away as fast as their fancy bodies could take them to spread the word.

(Guess who's back...back again...
Okay...this takes place sometime in the night of the wind blast and stuff. She got flung off of the mountainside and somehow survived the fall in the middle of the forest. It's night...and the rain is slowly approaching.)

The first thing that Bast was aware of when she opened her eyes was the darkness surrounding her. No light anywhere and no sign of life save for the crunch of a twig in the distance, or the flurry of leaves as the wind struck the trees without discrimination. And there was the distant sound of...raindrops?

But there were absolutely no physical forms to attribute any sounds made to around her. She was, for all she knew, alone. For a brief second Bast believed she may have been made blind, and that fear sent her trying to get to her feet, only to make her crumple back onto the ground mewling with agony. Her entire body was suddenly on fire, and writhing in that pain did nothing to put it out. It only made it worst.

Finally she stopped moving, panting heavily and wanting to be rid of the daggars stabbing into every nook and cranny of her skin. An odd feeling in her left leg gave her the feeling that it was dislocated or, in a worst scenario, broken. When she tried to move it, it was not only accompanied by knives of torture but with a crackling noise that Bast guessed to be her bone.

So she lay somewhere in the deep forest, alone and unable to move. She was vulnerable to anything that came her way...and if she was truly blind...she wouldn't know what was approaching her until she felt death take her.

But to speak out and try to aquire help sounded like a better idea than laying around doing nothing. Even if there were beasts lying beyond her visions waiting to pounce, if she merely acted on the pretense of being comatose she would eventually die. To fall alone and in pain seemed a worst fate to her than falling in torture.

She tried to speak, but her words were mingled and weak. And no matter how hard she concentrated, her telepathic urgencies to Smoky Death or any other person nearby never left her...for they seemed to be blotted out halfway through the sentences. There was no odd tingling in her body that signified her wounds were trying to close...

She let out loud yowls, praying that by some chance there would be somebody nearby that could help her out of the muddled mess she was in.

Moments later they halted. The pain was getting too much to bear, so she closed her eyes and gritted her teeth.

(OOC: To the rescue!)

Lili was lucky. Having just returned to the Forest, this cursed plague thing hadn't yet had a chance to affect her, though she was, at every moment, aware of its effects on the creatures living there.

The large powerful and beautiful dragon flew through the night, her wings making the rushing noise that accompanied every wing flap. It was dark, but the night was clearly coming to a close, and it had been raining earlier. Thankfully the bad weather had moved off toward the mountains.

She had been cramped, trying to carve out a new cave, and she felt she needed to get out and get some air, so she went for a flight. She hadn't intended to come upon any injured, but when she heard the yowls of a large feline in pain she felt it her duty to assist.

Trying to pinpoint the noise in the trees proved little difficulty. Her eye sight shifted spectrums to detect heat, and saw down through the leaves and branches of the dark trees below, the form of, indeed, a large cat, perhaps a cheetah type, judging by the outward shape.

To get to the poor thing was no problem either. Lili simply concentrated on the trees, and they promptly relocated themselves, with faint pops, to other parts of the forest, waiting until she was ready to call them back into place.

What was left was a smooth flat clearing, large enough for her large frame, and in the center was the cheetah, a white one, or mostly white with darker spots, to tell by the faint UV signature.

Lili landed with a down whoosh of air and a rustling of wings, until she straddled the cheetahs frame.

"What has happened here?" she asked gently, carefully sniffing the cheetah. "What happened? Did somebeast attack you?"

If the cheetah had been attacked the dragoness wanted to know, in case the creature or thing was in the area.

The thoughts of her being devoid of all vision faded the moment she heard the trees around her rustle, blotting out what she could have sworn to be the beating of wings. She remembered that sound, because she had heard it accompany the various massive beasts that lived in the Boundary Mountains. Including the dreaded Rhiannon who had come so close to making her dinner.

The movement of trees got her to open her eyes, and the darkness seemed to expand... Things were moving. Vanishing. It took her a moment to realize those were actually trees pulling of disappearing acts, and it took her longer to realize she was definitely no dreaming.

Her theory on being blind shifted to one about her being only partially. That faded, too, when something massive landed beside her, craning a reptillian snout down to her furred body. The shape of the creature gave off that it had wings, and there were faint hues of random colors blotted all over the body... The darkness didn't allow Bast to make out any more detail other than it was very big and potentially dangerous.

For all she knew, it was opening massive jaws with serrated fangs...ready to chomp her dead.

Bast's body tensed, only to cause more agony. She let out pained hisses as an explosion of color erupted in her eyes as a result. When the creature above her spoke Bast relaxed, confident now that it meant no, or less, harm, but the pain still lingered.

She tried to speak, but her voice came out in painful gasps. Telepathy couldn't work if she tried her hardest.
What did happen to her? The last thing she remembered was that she was running across the Boundary Mountains as she usually did. And then there was a burst of light and sound, and the cheetah was suddenly swept off of her paws.
When she awoke...here she was.

And despite her attempts, she couldn't seem to get it out. Her body was writhing in agony and it wouldn't stop.

Lili saw the cheetah writhing in the worst pain she seen any beast in. Having so newly returned, though, gave her the advantage of still having her magic.

She gently closed her talons over the crippled creature and activated her natural healing powers. There was a dim glow of light, and a tingle passing between them, easing pain and knitting bones, but it took longer than usual. Whatever was going around was affecting the old dragoness, however slowly.

As soon as the process was finished, Lili drew away, feeling a little tired. That worried her. Since when did healing someone much smaller tired her out?

"How are you now?" she asked, concerned, and hoping that her healing actually did what it was supposed to do.

For an instant Bast was fearful again. The creature standing beside her had lifted her forelimbs above Bast's body, and that move oculd mean just about anything. Including that it may be about to bring a death blow onto the cheetah in her state.

But nothing happened, save for the strange tingling sensation that seemed to shoot like lightning bolts between the forelimbs and Bast's entire body. The pain slowly began to ebb away into random aches and cramps, and relief found its way into the broken limb. The paw that hung off of the edge of the bone now straightened and felt connected again, but still very painful. Out of all of the other things, that was the only bit of the body that hurt without remorse.

Another pained hiss, and Bast looked up to try and speak. Surprisingly her voice spilled out, granted it was no more than a mere whisper. "I...," she murmured as she tried to sit up. The sudden wave of vertigo pressured her to return to her side.

"I'm....beeeetter now," Bast said in her tiny hoarse voice. Her eyes closed. "The world...just started to spin. Lili raised her brow ridges.

"You're in the Forest," she said. "Actually, you're in the forest at the base of the mountains, which as of late has become a place of greater danger."

She looked in the direction she knew the mountains to be, then back, lowering her head so that her voice could be kept low. "What happened? And where did you think you were?"

Bast gave a hacking cough as she tried once again to sit up. Once more she found herself facing massive vertigo and fell back to the ground. Her voice erupted from her throat in a hoarse whisper filled with what was left of the pain, interrupted now and then by a cough.
Lili looked worried. "I do not know where smoke is, but I think you need some water. There's a stream nearby, only a small rivulet coming out of the rocks, but I think it will help."

Lili very, very carefully lifted the cheetah off the ground and onto her back, and she walked that short distance (to her) that the poor cheetah would never have been able to cover.

The trees again pulled disappearing acts, with an adverse effect on Lili, but the cheetah really, really needed the water, and she was willing to sacrifice her own strength to bolster that of the other.

As soon as she reached the spot she set her passenger down on a mossy rock, with her face near the surface of the water, so that she wouldn't have to reach far to get a drink.

"Have some water," the dragon urged gently. "Then tell me about Smoke and who you are."

The moment Bast was lifted up, her stomach began to spin. She lifte dher head over the side of the dragon and closed her eyes while they crossed beneath her eyelids. For a moment it looked as though she were going to hurl, but the feeling of nausea passed within seconds.

Taking a deep breath, she whispered, "Wat...er?" Her throat suddenly felt dry and constricted. Her eyes burned behind their lids.

Bast could feel the creature beneath her moving wiht her on the back...a creature with leathery wings, Bast could tell. Maybe it was a dragon, because the wing membrane felt leathery as it brushed past her. Why was a dragon helping her? The last one tried to eat her.

Bast was aware of being set onto the ground. The 'dragon' gave her an order, and feeling the very light dew of water beneath her chin she lapped at the liquid. She kept drinking for a long time, seeming like some dehydrated beast who spent too much time in the desert. When she was done, some nausea passed...but she still felt fevered. Sick. Colors blasted beneath her eyelids, and she started to shiver. She wanted Smoke.

"Bast...I'm Bast," she uttered in her delusions. "Sm...smoke...Smoky Paradox. Puzzling tiger..." One of her eyes cracked open, facing the mountains. Where was he? Did he get flung off of the mountainside, too? She didn't sit up for fear of losing all the water she drank. "I can't heal...why?"

Bast had, at one point, been able to heal her wounds without much of a problem. Sicknesses would nearly dissipate. But now all her powers were faded. She couldn't even telepath.

(Lili now has the plague, y'know? Bast was sick from it... Physical contact contracted it).

Arian took a turn and decided to visit the forest instead. Entering, he suddenly stopped. Everything was covered with moss. His head turned up, down and all around looking at it with wonder. It was pretty but something was wrong. Did the forest do this every year? He'd never seen the likes of this before. It looks like a good meal though. he said to no one in particular.

The winged stallion landed and lowered his head, taking a few sniffs of the mossy stuff. He took a small sample of it and began to chew. The liquid secreting from the moss was so bitter, Arian did everything he could to spit it out. Snorting, the stallion moved on through the trees, his strength seemed to be weakening as he went further on. His eyes wandered around at the moss hanging from the trees, covering the trunks and branches, and even parts of the ground. It felt soft beneath his hooves. But this was no ordinary moss.

His nostrils caught the scent of water. Something he didn't quite get any of thanks to the zombie. Arian followed his nose to the source of the water but stopped, seeing something through the trees. It had leathery wings and scales so he assumed it was a dragon. And a white cat laying on the ground, looking sick. Arian felt a churning in his stomach and grimaced but continued. He lifted an ear, hearing their voices. Something about Smokey Paradox. Arian tilted his head in confusion. He did not know who or what that was.

He came up to them and looked at the cheetah. "What's going on? Are you ok?"

Bast continued to hack, trying to quell it now and again by forcing the cold water down her throat. For the first few times it worked. The liquid soothed the harsh dryness and soreness of her throat and eased it. But then even that temporary remedy began to fade and she was left in agony. Her eyes started to flare up again, and for the moment the white cheetah could swear she was feverish. If she was as sick as she felt, there was nothing that the water of the river could do for her.

And without her healing powers, the wounds would stay open for many days, prone to infection as they healed at a normal rate. The sickness would rage on, and the bone of her leg would stay broken.

She heard something enter the small clearing paved by the dragon beside her, but didn't have the energy to look. She also felt that if she moved her head to quickly she would lose whatever was in her stomach. The scent of the beast gave it the identification of a horse...or something like it.

"I...feel horrible," she whispered, resting her head on her forepaws, giving up on taking int he drink. Her stomach simply couldn't tolerate it. Even if the dragon healed her...it wasn't enough to kill whatever swiped her own powers and tackled her immune system while she was unconscious.

"I remember...running on the Mountains. Daily...routine. A wind...swept me away...and here I am." Her voice was low, barely audible, hoarse.
Bast had her eyes closed, weary. She was starting to fade in and out of consciousness, although she desperately clung to the chatter about her as a way to keep her connected to the world of the living. She was fighting a losing battle, however, as the way of the plague began to overtake her. Everything was starting to fall quiet around her, and if the cheetah had her eyes open everything would have appeared to be fading from vision.

Then came the voices. high above, chiming, urgent. A message from Gaeva? The Village...

But Bast was not in the shape to get there. In her current condition, with one broken leg, scratches and cuts that didn't heal completely, and the feeling of losing whatever she drank if she moved an inch, she was far from capable of traveling endless miles to get to one area. From the state she was in, getting picked off by one of the larger beasts in the forest and having her misery end didn't sound too bad.

Now that was morbid - it made Bast cringe at the thought.

Ignoring the churning feeling in his stomach he looked up to see the fanciful birds fluttering above him. He'd never seen the like in his exploration of the place but he shrugged it off and listened to their message. He blinked with surprise at the urgency of it and watched them flitter away.

A look of deep concern washed over his face as he looked back down at the cheetah. Glancing over at Lili he sighed and replied. "My name is Arian. Look, both of us have strong capable backs. One of us will have to carry her to this... village. You probably know more than I do where it is. You can pick her up and carry her and I can follow you."

Lili looked around at the others.

"So. Do we go to this Village in the Forest?" she asked.

(Just realizing I butchered a few words...)

Even though she was nearly unconscious, Bast's mouth slipped into a very small, very dry-humoured smile when she heard the dragon speak. She opened her own jaw to say something, but instead coughed violently enough for her to use her forepaws and lift herself up, only momentarily. Her back arched as she aimed her mouth towards the ground, more inclined by the spinning of her stomach than by the need to get something out of her throat.

And along with the blood she hacked out, she retched.

Then promptly collapsed on the ground away from the mess, looking up with bleary eyes.
