My Little Pony: easy access on Youtube.
Doctor Who's 50th: needed tickets, and to be somewhere where it screened ...

So more watched MLP because when you get people like me who have no car and are utterly broke, it's the more feasible option. :P

I still want to see it. So sad I didn't get to ...

It was also on Space twice, CTV once, and is still available for streaming on Space.ca if you're in Canuckistan...

Looks like it played several times over the weekend on BBC America, with live streaming on YouTube during the event itself, though no video on demand of it on the BBC America site.

Now you know :p

According to Twitter it is on Netflix. Can't see it, 'cause Canadian Netflix sucks (and I don't pay for it, because it sucks) but there ya go.

I'm very good at what I do.

So who is up to date and has seen both the 50th anniversary episode and the Christmas special?

I saw them when they were shown, one of the perks of a reclusive nature.
John Hurt was brilliant as the ninth doctor(seems christopher eccleston got a bit confused and lost count after the mess at the end) disapproving of his more youthful future selves, but a reappearance by Rose Tyler in any form is simply unforgiveable.
The christmas special I felt ended up getting a bit too distracted focussing on how Matt Smith really was the thirteenth, and final doctor, except not really, and the rest of the plotting suffered as a result. Clara, got sidelined to the degree that she may as well have been left out entirely.

This is sooooo late in response but I do agree; the Christmas special seemed kind of... rushed? Slapped together? Messy? I think it could have been handled a bit better, though the 50th Anniversary wasn't too bad.

Rushed seems about right, but I'd probably add crowded-there were too many different plot elements for the length of episode, so none of them really got done properly. A good example would be how of the doctor's adversaries turn up at once, when the story only really needed the daleks.

Agreed... we already had that with the Pandorica Opens, but Moffat likes to toss enemy names into a hat and pull them out.

I kinda liked the Silence appearing, but they make such excellent villains I do hope they find a way to continue them on into Capaldi's era. Plus the metacrisis dealio and making him a legitimate incarnation of the Doctor (Rose has her own real Doctor now, aww! *bleck*) bugged me. Seems like Moffat wanted to be the one to put the entire issue to rest in his own way, like he did with the Time War and the Doctor having a family. I mean, it's not bad, and it's certainly a bit better than Russel Davies' obsession with very public alien invasions (World War Three, The Christmas Invasion, Doomsday, Last of Timelords, Voyage of the Damned, Partners in Crime, The Poison Sky, Journey's End, The Next Doctor, The End of Time vs. The Eleventh Hour and The Power of Three), but his 'solve all the Doctor things!' seems to be getting a bit much. Wouldn't be surprised if we found out Susan's past and the half-human dealio in the Capaldi era...

Well he wasn't so much pulling names out of a hat here as emptying out the entire hat at once, and Matt Smith's doctor was always at his best facing down a single enemy, indeed many of the finest episodes are those with only one adversary.

Has anyone else seen Peter Capaldi as cardinal Richelieu in the bbc's new series of 'The three musketeers'. Based on his performance so far, and I'm cautiously optimistic that he may turn out to be very good sinister, scheming Doctor. Yes, sinister. Like many heroes, the Doctor really should be at least a little bit sinister, which was one of the aspects Matt Smith did quite well.

Agreed, creepy villains to boot. I also liked how this was portrayed by just needing to look away and instantly forgetting just what is going on, it makes my skin crawl in a whole way compared to say the (original) weeping angels. I'll never forget that scene where that American guy (Mark Sheppard) is suddenly notified that his voice recorder has been activated, and he has no clue, it freaked me out.

While agree and hope for sinister or something similar, I just can't figure out how that would work out. It seems the Doctor is in kind of an optimistic good spot in his life now. I base this on apparently his last three regenerations having lived under the influence of having been responsible for something horrible, and now at last he knows this is not true. Shouldn't that make him a totally happy and relieved guy? I feel like I am missing something obvious. Even if it takes a while to adjust to the idea, it still seems to call for something lighter, not darker.

Unless everything is about to go to hell of course.

Spoilers to the new season! New Doctor!

I guess they found a good way to mix the light with the dark with this new Doctor, or I think so anyway as I absolutely loved the first episode. I saw online some people had gripes with the story, but other than the dinosaur being a bit weird, I liked it. And the Doctor grew on me very quickly, I accepted him by the end of the episode. It was the same for Nine and Ten, only took one episode, though Eleven took me almost a whole season to come to love.

But yeah, silly Doctor, but also kinda...I dunno, the way he demanded things and potentially pushed that cyborg, also a little dark. And he totally had me fooled when he abandoned Clara.

Dinosaurs are always good, and in this case had quite a significant role in the plot. True, it would have been even better if it had been feathered according to the most recent theories, but in any other situation 'have there been any similar murders?' would have just been a tired old cliche.
The new doctor was a bit heavy on the post-regenerative disorientation for my liking, but shows real promise, and I'm glad he still has at least a bit of a sinister side. The real highlight of the episode for me, though, was the veiled detective, who continues to be wonderful, and nicely balances out Clara's dullness.

Any episode with the 3 detectives is a good one for the most part. XD

I was fooled too with the abandoning Clara. That scene for me really helped to solidify that he's still the Doctor. That, and when he did the "oooo" like David Tennent doctor did. I literally squeeled at that part. I like this mix of light and dark. I felt that lately, the show was too light and fluffy. But that's not how that run was. People die at times. And the first doctor was a bit of a jerk. So I like this.

Agreed about not liking how much the Doctor was disoriented with his regeneration. However, I suppose it would make sense considering he wasn't even suppose to be able to regenerate again, ya know. XD And not sure I liked how Clara's reaction was. I liked it, because I liked the fact that some companion finally had major issues with it because that's kinda realistic, but then I had it pointed out that she should have already quasi-experienced it before so now I dunno. XD

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what all this new Doctor has to offer us. :)

I was ok with his disorientation because when he keeled over I though he was going to be unconscious again for a good bit like when Ten first regenerated >.< I prefer awake and out of it over just being completely out of it!

I wasn't happy with Clara's reaction, but I thought it was mostly done as a nod to all those fangirls whining about the new Doctor being "too old" and therefore not accepting him before giving him a chance. Kind of annoying, but whatever, at least Clara got over it ^_^ I suppose it would be realistic for a companion to have issues, but yeah, Clara was not the right companion to use that, lol! Rose would have been better, yet she handled it rather well. Of course, she had David Tennant's face to deal with so that wasn't so bad XD

And I am loving that funny lighthearted vs dark and cold thing going on in the Doctor! The new episode today kept that up and I loved it, one moment I am laughing at a witty remark, next I am wondering "Did he just do/say that?!" Such an interesting new Doctor ^_^
