Nei was fairly worried by Zom's presence at first, but that gave way to a bit of confusion when neither the vampiress nor Entropy made any move to attack the other. Zom's own nervous appearance faded within moments as the two exchanged a silent look that Nei guessed signified that some prior terms of peace they had reached were still in effect.
"Still looks the same here," Entropy commented after taking in the rest of her surroundings. "Except that box of Norad's that shoots the explodey things laying over there. Looks kind of broke down."
Nei wondered for a moment if she should fill Entropy in on how that machine had gotten into the state it was in, but it may not have been the time. There were definitely a few points of the story that would take too long to explain to the succubus, and they really just needed to be worrying about one problem at a time here.
"Time's wastin'," was all Zom had to say about that. "Anyway, I'm pretty sure I had the right idea last time."
Just then, Naira took her dive into the portal near her.
"And so does she," Zom added, gesturing at the Reaver. "But I'm pretty sure we needed more volunteers."
"You suppose someone needs to be standing in all six of those swirly things?" Entropy asked.
"That's what I'd guess." Zom answered. "Dragon chick over there makes one, and there's three of us here. You can do the math."
With that said, Zom turned abruptly and made her way back over to another one of the portals and stepped inside.
"Nei?" Entropy started, but hesitated.
"I'll take one," Nei answered, not hesitating, and dashing to another portal as soon as she had spoken.
As Nei went, Entropy moved out closer to the rest of the gathered creatures, rising up into the air a few feet to make herself more noticeable.
"Hey, folks?" she called out to all of them. "Did the rest of you notice these portal things around this tree? Well, I'm thinking we're going to need all six of these filled up if we're going to get anywhere. I'll take one, but there's still going to be two left. If any of you feel up to it, well... here's your chance."
And with that, the succubus flew back and dropped herself into Portal Number Four.

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
Although the act was humorous at first, Simi's smile quickly faded once the tree finally used its unseen strength to shove Juno and the wolf warrior away from it for the second time. Jahran, as she'd dreaded, winked out of existence yet again.
The hippogryph's initial panic of that odd occurence was quickly forced down. She didn't want to panic over nothing; after all, Jahran would be back. He had come back before, right? Right...? She let out a sigh of tired frustration, feeling both disheartened as well as irritable with the tree. If only she were a unicorn again... perhaps, she might have been able to find a way to reason with it? Something along the lines of 'Oh hello, I'm a unicorn too, see? Just like the ones you're keeping asleep. We're not bad at all!'
...Oh, why was she fooling herself. That tree wasn't going to listen to anyone. It couldn't even listen to Jahran.
Scratching at the earth with her foretalons, Simi finally tore herself away from the tree and back to Naira, only to see that the soul reaver had inched closer to the portals beckoning to her. A jolt of alarm rushed through her as she made a step after her. "W-wait, Naira--"
"Ah ... to hell with it."
"Naira!"
She... she'd already gone through!
Simi made as if to run after her--
"Hey, folks?"
--but was both startled and distracted by Entropy's declaration. She looked up at the succubus with wide and questioning eyes. Did she, did she know what to do?
"Did the rest of you notice these portal things around this tree? Well, I'm thinking we're going to need all six of these filled up if we're going to get anywhere. I'll take one, but there's still going to be two left. If any of you feel up to it, well... here's your chance."
Simi balked at the flying girl's suggestion, although a part of her had already suspected that she'd have to do something like that if she wanted to help Naira, now. And she wanted to help Naira-- she really did!-- but... but Attor was still here, and who would be here to keep him company...? But Naira might be in danger! But would he be alright without her? But Gaeva's family could be there too! But Attor! Ohhh was she thinking too much?
"A-ah, ah... I'll..." she took a few uneasy steps to the swirling portal closest to her, before finally turning around and heading back to the slumbering dragon.
"Attor, please, stay safe! D-don't go attacking any more machines okay?!"
And with that, Simi rushed right through.

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
The white swirling energy wildly reaching for Naira without ever actually touching her, increased in a little in size and brightness as the Reaver jumped towards it. As far as anybody looking would be able to tell, she had vanished. In reality, nothing had happened. Naira simply jumped through seemingly thin air, through the swirling energy, and just landed on the other side, hidden in that moment or two from view by the portal which was still chaotically swirling around and reaching for her.
Zom's action on the other hand had a very different reaction. While every other portal had not changed it's serene flowing motion like the one near Naira had, the vampire's approach towards one of them seemed to trigger a similar behavior to the first one. The moment she got near it, the portal flashed brighter and increased size, shooting out soft tendrils of energy towards her. But even though they initially also didn't make contact with the vampire's tanned skin, the moment she lifted her foot to step through the portal, a few of them instantly merged to form a small wave of white energy. It quickly flowed around her, and ushered her inside. Whether the energy had truly pushed her, or whether it had been her own momentum that caused her final movement forwards was up for debate, but Zom did not simply step through to the other side, instead she disappeared.
Simultaneously as the wave of energy was formed that enveloped Zom's entrance into the portal, an almost identical sheet of energy was formed from the portal that shielded Naira's form from the others. It also rapidly flowed around the Reaver, and while again it wasn't clear whether it was this energy that caused it, it was obvious that Naira was jerked off her talons and into the portal to disappear.
As Nei reached her targeted portal both Naira and Zom had already disappeared, and she simply walked through the unresponsive white energy without feeling a thing. The two other chaotic portals started to calm down. At first the energy still swirled around wildly, but the tendrils grew smaller, moving slower. By the time Entropy and Simi reached two of the other spirals, all of the portals looked the same again, whirling slowly and calmly as if nothing had happened.
--------------------------------------
For Naira:
After getting whisked off her feet, she was instantly deposited back onto the ground, in her experience barely even moving that far. Looking around she would see identical surroundings to the ones she had just left, the destroyed land with acid streams running through it, and the same tree with the unicorns hanging suspended around it. However the others were all gone, as were all the portals, including the one that had transported her. She was also standing a lot closer to the tree than she had.
A noise would have alerted her of a sound behind her, regardless of the direction she was facing, but nothing was there. It repeated a couple of times, until she turned back towards the tree, only to find Gaeva standing directly in front of her face. The lavender unicorn stood still, her face impassive, not giving any indication she had not been standing there the whole time. Unlike Jahran, she also looked completely solid, and if touched, felt solid, if a little colder than one would think a healthy being should feel.
"It worked..." came her voice from behind Naira. The unicorn in front of her didn't move a muscle, or give any indication she was the one speaking.
"There is so much...no time...we must hurry...help...!" The voice continued to speak, originating from an unseen source. The lavender unicorn didn't move her mouth however, though small clues gave the impression of live, such as breathing and blinking, and smallest movements from her tail and wings.
"...Most important is power, for both of us, it is vital...the tree...! The tree gives protection, but it needs help, nourishment...water! Help the tree and maybe it will-" The voice trailed off with a rushing sound blocking the words as everything around Naira started to spin into a blurry representation of the destroyed lands, which ended with Naira physically thrown back where she had started: right next to the calmly spinning white portal, in the vicinity of the ones left behind.
--------------------------------------
For Zom:
Zom stepped from on version of the ruined lands directly into an identical looking one, except she was now standing close to the tree with the unicorns around it. Looking around the only difference would be the disappearance of the others, as well as all the portals, including the one that had transported her.
From the other side of the tree a sound could be heard, immediately followed by the appearance of a solid looking Gaeva, walking right up to Zom without a hesitation in her step. The lavender unicorn walked closer than one would expect another to do while still respecting personal space, and lowered her head to eye level with the vampire.
"Zom, this is important, we don't have much time and a lot to accomplish," spoke Gaeva's voice with a slight echo, but it seemed to come from the tree, where the lavender form still levitated. The unicorn right in front of her hadn't move a muscle, just stared at Zom, "I'm trying to save the forest, but I'm being countered. I don't have the time or strength to block these attacks, please help me." The voice seemed to grow fainter, the echo louder. "The tree you see is vital, any tampering with it, any outside influence of any kind will kill me. Don't let anything come near it!" The final word was spoken loudly, immediately followed by a rushing sound as everything around Zom started to spin into a blurry representation of the destroyed lands, which ended with the vampire physically thrown back where she had started: right next to the calmly spinning white portal, in the vicinity of the ones left behind.
--------------------------------------
Naira and Zom had been gone for less than half a minute, much less time than the two of them experienced during their absence, when they seemingly reappeared from thin air in the same spots they had disppeared from.
All of the white portals rapidly whirled into themselves, and disappeared, only to instantly reappear, but in different locations, and tripled in number. They did not look any different than before, and lazily spiraled around in place. Nothing else gave any indication something had happened. The unicorns remained motionless as they floated around the tree. Jahran's transparent form did not return.

I have been here from the beginning, since before the birth of what you see around you. I have seen all that has come and gone, the good and the bad, and I witnessed the balance that always returned no matter what happened.
But now I have forseen an ending coming closer, the completion of a cycle, and I fear this balance will be broken after all this time...and we will be no more.
I can not intervene myself as I can not speak, shout, move or act. I shall attempt to guide you in my stead to be my Pawn, my Sacrifice, my Chosen...and save my Deep Forest from disappearing into the eternal void forever.
Help me.

So... perhaps that didn't quite work out as planned.
Simi might as well have leaped through thin air. She had launched herself into the swirling mist, only to stumble out on its other side, still in the very same place she was moments ago. She would have fallen flat on her face if she hadn't had wings to steady herself.
The hippogryph looked about bewilderingly. Naira was still gone, but now so was one of the newcomers... Z.. Zonn, was it? Nei had also walked through one of the portals and walked out unscathed.
Feeling both relieved yet sickeningly worried, Simi quickly made her way back to Attor, giving him one anxious look-over before turning her gaze on Nei. At least now she didn't have to leave the dragon alone or leap into another dimension, but wherever their two companions had gone... well, anything could have happened and she was powerless to help!
"We... we couldn't follow them! What happened?" but before Simi could torment Nei with her panicked onslaught of ramblings, Naira and Zom had already reappeared. The hippogryph approached Naira with a nervous wave of her wings, letting out a rather shaky whicker.
"Oh, y-you all are back! Are you alright Naira? Did you see Jahran at all?"

"WOAH!" Juno replied as he was tossed away, flying into one of the misty portals. "FOUL!"
Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
It would take some time getting used to this being tossed back and forth. While the transportation took as little time as it took to blink, Naira felt like her equilibrium had been thrown off-kilter. She buckled upon her final return to the real (was it real?) dimension. The Reaver was no stranger to odd phenomenon and recovered quickly, though her stomach still demanded release - an urge that was pushed backwards with considerable mental force. Uneasy talons paced around the portal, completing at least four full circles before finally coming to a halt. She was uneasy, confused, and wondering initially if this really was the right place. Simi's anxious approach rapidly dismissed any worries of being dropped in the wrong location.
"Oh y-you all are back!" sputtered a nervous hippogryph while fluttering her wings, looking like that was all she could do without screaming in terror and running in frantic circles. "Are you alright Naira? Did you see Jahran at all?"
Numbly at first, the Reaver shook her head. An ungloved hand reached for her temple. It was still a little sore from some earlier blunt force trauma courtesy of a very large rock, but at least the headache no longer resided there. "No Jahran ... but I did see Gaeva." Naira frowned. "Didn't speak. Didn't even acknowledge that I was there. But somebody did talk to me from behind, though I didn't see who it was. Maybe one of the siblings?" Feeling rather naked without her gloves, Naira extended a finger in the tree's direction. "Said that the tree was giving protection, but needed nourishment. Water. Makes sense, considering the ground is so parched here."
Finally, Naira took the time to notice her surroundings in whole. There were a lot more swirling white vortexes. Had they nearly tripled in number? Pausing in thought, the silence ensuing her brief interruption was cut in half only by one of Attor's rather huge snores. Naira shook her head and brushed the yellow bangs from her face.
"Right ... Granting that probably nobody knows some extreme alchemy that can change acid to mineral water, the only way we'll be able to get water here is if anybody can conjure it, or ice (we can always melt it), at will. Unless somebody's willing to cart buckets back and forth from the river." That last part ended with a pale laugh. Really, could you imagine one of them being loaded up with filled buckets, struggling to make it back to the prison? Where would they get buckets anyway? But that last whim was still a plausible one. They hand plenty of willing backs eager to lend a hand.

"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."
Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
"No Jahran..." the soul-reaver finally said as she touched her forehead, and Simi winced. Oh dear, did she hurt her head...?
"... But I did see Gaeva. Didn't speak. Didn't even acknowledge that I was there. But somebody did talk to me from behind, though I didn't see who it was."
"Er... wait, wh-what? But..." the hippogryph's brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of this new information. "But I don't understand. If it wasn't Gaeva then who could possibly..."
" Maybe one of the siblings?" Naira tossed out before pointing at the troublesome tree. "Said that the tree was giving protection, but needed nourishment. Water. Makes sense, considering the ground is so parched here."
Simi's beak gaped. "Oh, oh of course! It's so dry and... and the lava must be making it sick!" She made a few dancing steps with her hooves-and-talons before turning again to the tree. "Water, of course! But..." Her wings lowered as her eyes clouded with worry again. "There's no water around, is there."
"Right ... Granting that probably nobody knows some extreme alchemy that can change acid to mineral water, the only way we'll be able to get water here is if anybody can conjure it, or ice (we can always melt it), at will. Unless somebody's willing to cart buckets back and forth from the river."
At this, however, Simi's head shot right back up.
"I-I... I can... the ice! I can do that!" she said excitedly as she flapped her wings. "It... well, it always comes out rather thin, but I can cover things in ice, so maybe I could do that on some the rocks here a-and, we could melt it! All I need is..." She winced. "...My horn."
Letting out something between a sigh and a groan of frustration, she turned back to the rest of her companions. "I'm um... I'm sorry... If only there was a way I could change back."
OOC:
She doesn't know yet about Juno's backpack and never quite realized what had turned Naira back to normal in the first place. So if it's alright with you, Juno?eh nevermind

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
After flying straight through the portal, it took a moment for Entropy to realize that she hadn't gone anywhere. She then immediately flew over to Nei just as the pointy-eared girl was reaching the same realization.
"Well, that didn't work," she pointed out accusingly. "You didn't do it wrong, did you?"
"How could I have done it wrong?" Nei returned, defensively. "It was a portal. You just walk into it."
Entropy couldn't find an argument against that, so she just regarded Nei suspiciously for a moment.
Then Naira told everyone that the tree needed watering. Simi was the first one to react, but apparently wasn't in a state to actually do anything at the moment. Entropy,on the other hand, wasn't one to wait around for someone else to do a job she was perfectly willing and able to get the credit for. So, without any further discussion, she lifted her hand towards the tree. Immediately, a ball of water condensed just in front of it, then streamed forth.
Just as quickly, Zom flew into its path and got herself drenched, but kept the water from reaching its target.
"Jesus Christ that's cold!" the vampire exclaimed.
"Hey, what's the big idea?" Entropy shouted. "Out of the way!"
"Now hold on just a minute!" Zom shot back, hovering in a defensive posture. "You'd be real happy if you'd killed Gaeva just now!"
"That was just water, it wouldn't--" Entropy started angrily, but then stopped short. "What do you mean?"
Zom returned to the ground.
"I made it through my portal too, if none of you noticed," she said, wringing her hair out now. "Met Gaeva too. She told me not to let anythin' disturb that tree, or it'd kill 'er."
"Are you calling Nay a liar?" Entropy asked.
"No, I'm saying we'd better figure out what the deal is before we do anythin' rash," Zom answered, trying to calm herself down and sound reasonable.
"And what if you made that whole thing up?" Entropy pressed.
"Why would I make it up?" Zom asked.
"Because... you serve Wrathmont. Maybe you want to help this thing that's trying to get free so Wrathmont can ally with it."
"Why would I let something go running loose that could just as well make itself a threat to Wrathmont? The boss ain't in the business of creatin' his own rivals."
Again unable to think of an argument, Entropy gave Zom her stare now.
And just at that moment, a blond-haired woman fell out of another hole in the sky and landed on Nei, knocking her down yet again.
"Really!" Nei protested loudly in annoyance with the universe.
"My... apologies," the woman offered with some confusion in her voice as she made her way back to her own feet and held out a hand to help Nei back up as well.
Entropy finally broke off her stare to look back at the commotion.
"Fancy seeing you here, Isala," she greeted. "I guess we're all here, then."
"We're certainly not all there..." Nei grumbled.
"Well, that didn't work," she pointed out accusingly. "You didn't do it wrong, did you?"

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
.... O-oh, oh okay! So someone here could summon water. It certainly made things easier.
But then someone else blocked said summoned water, and a heated... and rather confusing argument ensued.
"Now hold on just a minute! You'd be real happy if you'd killed Gaeva just now!"
"I-I'm sure it wasn't going to drown her!" Simi said, feeling rather lost and angry that everything they tried to do to help was somehow thwarted. But the hippogryph's timid outburst had gone unheard by the more dire conversation at hand. Zom was convinced that doing anything to the tree could somehow harm Gaeva and her family-- no, not harm, but... kill.
And Gaeva had told her this, herself.
But... that couldn't be right! Naira had been there too, on the other side, and something had told her that the tree needed water! Without it, it would die here! And what would happen to Gaeva then?
Entropy was accusing Zom of lying for her own gain, as well as someone else's entirely. And the back-and-forth might have continued for a while had yet another person hadn't fallen from the sky and... right onto Nei! Simi approached the two quickly. "Oh, dear, are the both of you alright?"
But she hadn't forgotten the previous conversation, and the hippogryph turned finally to Zom. "But... but if you put it that way, things are already killing Gaeva right now, aren't they?" At first hesitant and a little meek, Simi raised her voice a little louder. "The ground has been dried, acid is running under that... that poor tree's roots right now. Things are already happening to the tree. Water wouldn't hurt it... water would help! I-it has to! If we don't give it water it'll die, and then... and then things will be even worse!" She looked down then, seized for a moment in her own distraught thoughts, but for the first time, Simi didn't feel quite so conflicted with herself. Sure, there was a little doubt, a little fear. But for some reason or another, she felt certain about her words and her conviction, instead of arguing to herself endlessly about whether this could be good or bad.
The tree needed water. Everything needs water. Water had to help.

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
Naira did hear Zom's proclomation. Considering the evil nature of that being, the Reaver was tempted to take her words with a grain of salt. But if every evil being in the area were to act upon their own devilish impulses right now, they'd be getting no closer to resolving the current tenuous situation. Rubbing at the back of her neck as though scratching a good itch, the half-dragon stepped closer to them. She shined a grin towards Entropy, having not greeted her beforehand and being genuinely glad to see the succubus, gradually straying her eyes to the vampiress.
"So we both got tips on how to fix this, but they're pretty contradictory. Plus ... didn't exactly get mine directly from Gaeva. Not sure who was talking to me." Naira sighed. This whole thing was becoming grossly complex. She spied her jacket laying on the ground and immediately shrugged it on. "Somebody's playing tricks on us. I hate that feeling. How do we know it was really Gaeva speaking to you?"
Seeing the wayward destruction of the forest by varying peculiar events, it was easy to see how far they were from fixing it all. Frogs flying from the sky. Lightning bolts of cherry lollipops. A random sinkhole appearing somewhere in the woods, leading to uncertain ends. Steam was even rising from the river - you could see a belch of smoke ascending from its location well beyond their view, dispersing into the air.
"I'm kinda swooning towards the water idea, though. Sitting around and waiting ... well ... " Tugging fingerless gloves onto her hands, Naira pointed outward and around. "It seems to be getting worse. If we don't try something, this whole fragmented reality thing is gonna make Deep Forest implode."

Seeing Naira's grin, Entropy returned it along with a small wave, though there was unfortunately no time at the moment for greater pleasantries than that. Meanwhile, once Isala was on her feet, Nei gave Simi a thumbs-up to allay her concerns, followed by a nod in case the hippogryph didn't understand the previous gesture.
While Zom took in everything that had been said, Entropy latched right onto everything that had supported her side.
"Yeah, how can some water hurt a tree?" she asked. "Especially with all this other dangerous stuff around?"
As much as she was sure there was something faulty with that logic, Zom couldn't come up with the words for an answer right offhand. Entropy, with no counterarguments to stop her, started conjuring up another stream of water. On seeing the succubus' posturing, Zom tensed up to throw herself into its path again, though she wasn't sure if she would have the same luck again.
"What about that barrier?" Nei suddenly asked.
"Barrier?" Entropy echoed, stopping herself short.
"The one that pushed those two back a minute ago," Nei clarified, gesturing to Barbannis and Juno. "Jahran... um... that... ethereal unicorn said... Well, it seemed like the tree was trying to keep us away or... something."
As soon as Neizaia realized how much she had just stuttered, she inwardly chastised herself. Not exactly the strong front a soldier was supposed to keep up. This Neithird was really-- no, that was a cruel thing to think. Even if it was about herself. Sort of. She decided to stop thinking about it before she hurt herself.
"Now that sounds like an important point," Zom said. "If the tree, or one of those unicorns, or whatever, has been keepin' people away, doesn't that make it sound like maybe it doesn't really want any water? And besides, the leaves don't exactly look dry an' shriveled or anything."
"I may only have arrived moments ago, but anyone can see that there is magic at work here," Isala chimed in. "The usual ways of nature are known to give way in the face of such powers. Difficult as it may be to trust a servant of Wrathmont, I fear she may be correct in her belief that action without greater knowledge would be overrash."
"Well... I..." Entropy stuttered, which at least served to make Nei feel better about herself.
"From what Gaeva said, it sounded like she was fightin' against somethin' that was too powerful for her," Zom pressed. "She's tryin' to save the Forest, but she ain't strong enough to block its attacks. So I guess she needs the tree for that. We do need to do somethin' to help, but if we do this thing an' it's wrong, she dies and it's all over."
Then she looked at Naira.
"You say it wasn't Gaeva that was talkin' to you," she said. "It sure looked like Gaeva that was talkin' to me. She was standin' right in front of me, lookin' right at me. I mean, her lips didn't move an' it sounded like her voice was comin' from closer to the tree, like where she's floatin' now, but... that could've just been telepathy. I guess it still could've still been a trick, but we know one of us got a false message an' I don't think it's a good idea to assume the less believable one was the one to trust."
Entropy, meanwhile, was looking thoughtful now.
"I guess we could try messing around with some of the new portals that opened up," she said, half thinking aloud and half suggesting it to everyone else. "But what if the tree does need water and we don't have enough time to screw around?"
Looking at the tree again, she put a finger under her chin.
"I need to think about this carefully..."

Of course the possibilty of harming Gaeva frightened her... of course it make her knees shake with uncertainty. But if nothing could happen to the tree at all, what were they to do? Sit here and wait for everything to sort itself out? There were plenty of times when Simi wanted to inject something or another into the conversation, but she was a timid voice even with her strong opinions on tending to the tree. However, the moment there was a pause in the arguments, she stepped forward again.
"W-well... well there you have it, right? If there really is a barrier around the tree, and the tree pushes away whatever it doesn't want... then wouldn't it do the same for water? I-I mean, if it doesn't want the water, it will push it away! Just like everything else it did..." she turned back to Entropy, seeing that the humanoid was faltering in her resolve and desperate for her to not do so.
"M-maybe you could make that ball of water again... And walk to the tree slowly instead of throwing it. And if the tree doesn't want it, then... we'll know. Right?"

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
Entropy thought about Simi's suggestion for a moment. It...
"Sounds reasonable..." she decided. "If it was protecting itself before, why would it stop now?"
"It might not be able to spare any more energy," Zom suggested.
"We have to try something!" Entropy shot back, getting heated up again. "Nay's right about that! We'll stand here all day if we just keep talking!"
"What about checkin' out those portals, like you just mentioned?"
Entropy's brow creased in frustration.
"Oh, whatever with those," she growled scornfully. "Who knows what they'll even do? Better to try... something more solid."
"Right," Zom sighed. "Just gonna be cavalier about it, are you?"
Entropy just let out another growl, then held her hands up in front of her chest and started forming another ball of water between them. Zom sighed again, then fell back into a defensive posture and set her face in a stony look of resolve.
"And if I say you're not gettin' to that tree without goin' through me first?" she asked the succubus in a low, deliberate voice.
"You think you can stop all of us?" Entropy asked, a dangerous sound finding its way into her own voice as she squared up towards Zom in a fighting stance of her own.
"Nope," Zom admitted. "But ain't nobody gonna say I didn't give it a try."
Entropy gave a nod, then glanced back the others one last time to see where they actually stood on the prospect of this going as far as it was about to. Nei and Isala, for their part, both looked like they were going to be content to stay out of the way this time.

Looking back and forth between Zom, Entropy, and Nei, Naira found herself slowly getting pushed into the direction of uncertainty. It was only fitting that she sat next to Simi then. Plopping down, Naira folded her legs and cradled her chin on creased knuckles. Her eyes closed firmly in thought. Every word in passing was absorbed, but despite all the ideas being thrown about, none of them was concrete enough to try.
"I was gonna propose saturating the ground around the tree with water and seeing if the roots sucked it up ... but if the barrier goes that far beneath the earth ... " Sighing, Naira ran an idle hand through her hair. It did little to comfort her, though it did remove a few aggravating dried blood clumps. "Even if it did work, killing Gaeva's a far cry from what we want to do ... Considering it would harm her, that is. I mean, she's been possessed before, hasn't she?"
With a frustrated noise, the Reaver threw her arms up in the air.
"Screw it. Let's go portal jumping again. Maybe the more clues we get, the closer we'll get to clearing this mess."

Simi was relieved when Naira stepped in. She was sure that things were about to get real ugly between Entropy and Zom, and hoped that the Soul-Reaver could ease the tension back down. The last thing anyone could afford right now was a fight...
"Screw it," Naira said, frustratedly throwing her hands up in the air. "Let's go portal jumping again. Maybe the more clues we get, the closer we'll get to clearing this mess."
"... But the portals aren't doing anything, anymore," the hippogryph said as she approached one, ruffling her wings close to her. "They're all.. stagnant, now."
To prove her point, Simi half-heartedly swung a forefoot into the portal before her as she stuck her head through, pessimistically confident that nothing was going to happen...

Re: It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]
Seeing Naira change her mind about the water and Simi showing no interest in a fight, Entropy drew up in mild disappointment, then fidgeted around a bit awkwardly. For all of Entropy's bluster, she knew Zom would be dangerous to take on by herself. Finally turning back to face the vampiress, she tried to put on the best dismissive look she could manage.
"Right, whatever," she grunted out in something that was a mix between a scoff and a grumble. "We'll try it your way."
Zom, for her part, was just relieved. She held her ground, but made a point not to say anything, not wanting to make the hotheaded succubus think she was gloating. Entropy held a suspicious glare on her for a few more moments, reinforcing Zom's decision, then turned away again to look at the portals. Around the same time that Simi was talking about the portals not working anymore, Entropy picked one out and flew into it. Nei and Isala did likewise again. And finally, once Zom was sure nobody was going to try anything, the vampiress went for one too.
Naira sighed, immediately feeling guilty for rebuffing Entropy's desire to start a brawl. Had this been another situation, the Reaver would have eagerly supported the succubus in battle, encouraging her and adding aid when and where possible. Zom was about as trustworthy as a backstabbing politician, after all. But with their current predicament simmering with fragile brittleness ... she really doubted even somebody like Zom would act out on ill-intent for the sake of causing havok. The cost for negative tomfoolery was simply far too great.
The half-dragon sat for a bit longer, allowing her bones to settle. When she stood she brushed off dirt and flared out her coat to loosen any dust particles collected while on the parched earth. "I'm willing to try anything right now," Naira said to Simi. "If Zom is right, we'd be doing more harm than good. A fight," she gestured to Entropy and Zom with a flick of her shoulder, "is the last thing we need." She instantly thought back to Norad's ominous appearance in the sky, and how close they'd come to turning on one another like a pack of wild dogs. If this obstacle was to be overcome, they really needed to band together, trust one another ... even if only temporarily.
The Hippogryph proceeded to one portal. Everybody else was following suit, each finding his or her own swirling mist to harass. Naira picked out one that was more towards the forest's edge, pivoting dangerously close to a lake of hissing acid.

As everybody spoke, discussed, argued and pleaded, their immediate surroundings remained the same. The lone tree stood still and strong, the four winged unicorns hovering around it without moving in the same closed circle. Not even the water fight between Entropy and Zom caused so much as a breeze of change. The reddish yellow acid flowed silently, only occasionally letting out a small bubble, followed by a little *pop* for the ones who stood near enough to hear. The ghostly figure of Jahran had disappeared, and did not return. And the white swirling energy, the portals scattered around, now in a larger number than before, also continued their lazy movements while ignoring any outside influence. Not even the occasional waft of wind that moved bits of dust and dirt around affected them.
As the group scattered for the portals to follow up with the plan decided on, the portals didn't react. Like the wind around them, the swirling energy ignored them. As before, anyone attempting to pass through them, would do exactly that: pass through them as if they weren't even there.
Outside of their immediate surroundings however, something did change, though it remained unnoticeable at first had there even been anyone near enough to see. Quite a distance from the edge of these wastelands, in the forest itself, tension built up at four different locations, each conveniently located at exactly a southern, northern, western and eastern location from the group. The air itself seemed to vibrate, and a flock of birds nearby one of these locations flew away startled, crossing over the gathered group in the wasteland as Zom received her shower. Slowly the tension built up, the topmost layer of soil now vibrating in these select locations, until finally, and simultaneously, the very ground blew up in a loud explosion while the group in the wasteland moved for the portals.
As they failed to activate the portals by passing through them, they could not mistake the sudden incoming rain of projectiles made of large chunks of earth and wood above them. Nor the eerie precision with which these heavy and sharp objects made their way towards Entropy. From four directions a barrage of dirt rained down on her location, the rocks smashing themselves down, the wood that used to be thick and heavy trees, and now easily still twice her size, slamming down. All of it accompanied by an seemingly endless cloud of earth and clumps of unidentifiable greenery, obscuring everybody's view as it scattered around in a much wider area. It only lasted for a few seconds. Then everything grew quiet again. Just as quiet and unchanged as it had been before. Except for the few random leaves that kept floating down, as gravity could not convince them to turn into deadly weapons.

Help me.

Defeated and clueless, Naira found herself slumping to the ground. She sat there for a good moment. Eyes stared forward blankly, registering the simmering lake but not really looking at it. What hope was there? What solution were they supposed to come to by piecing together miniscule snippets of conversation that barely held any water? Speaking of ...
Naira looked up with an open mouth. She was about to propose to Rekka that they distribute water along the earth. Any statements - from her or anybody else - were cut harshly short by a loud, tumultuous roar from beyond the woodlands in their surroundings. Not really a roar. More like a deep rumble. Something you'd hear during an earthquake. The half-dragon braced herself, alarmed. But the disruption, though originating from the earth, did not rattle it. Rather, it was spun into the air - a dense cloud of mud, rock, and debris. During its brief suspension in the air iy gathered looks of surprise and awe, perhaps horror.
This was fleeting. It suddenly thrusted forth violently, pitching downwards with alarming accuracy towards

"ENTROPY MOVE!"
Not trusting her words to reach the demoness in time, Nemo found her feet quicker than a lightning bolt could arch across the night sky. But she was exhausted and couldn't move all that fast. Nonetheless she gave it her all.

The moment another rumble of earthquakes came her way, Simi leaped up with a yelp, flapping her wings to get herself off the ground as quickly as she could. The hippogryph glanced around in a panic at the friends and companions around her, but as fast as her thoughts raced, she had no idea how to help them. Perhaps she could lift one of the humanoids with her talons, but the others?
However, Simi had jumped to conclusions a little too fast. The good news was, there was no earthquake.
...The bad news was the army of rock-missiles heading straight for them.
... Actually, not so much for them.
But for Entropy.
Simi did not realize this, at first only staring at the falling weapons with an awed, silent kind of terror. It was after these missiles sailed over her and descended toward the succubus that realization hit her. As soon as Naira made a sprint for Entropy, Simi followed her, making a very fast flying dash for the girl and hoping that she could push her out of the way in time. She did not know Entropy well, but the stranger had been helpful-- or at least, had tried to help them help the tree. She had to do something!
((OOC: Simi's flying at a pretty fast speed, but it's up to Lux to determine just how fast she was going and if she was able to get to Entropy in time at all.))
