Nataku let out a squeak of surprise as a root suddenly caught on the front of his boot, sending his small body stumbling into the large tree that it belonged to. Exhausted hands just managed to latch onto the trunk before the mistake could send him crashing to the ground. The young elf felt the bark tear the soft pads of his fingers, but though he normally would have winced away, he couldn’t help but feel that the pain was a nice respite from the fatigued haze he had been in for multiple days and at least it stopped him from falling to the ground, a mistake that probably would have cost him his consciousness; even a ground filled with rocks would have put him to sleep at this point, much less one covered in leaves and vines.

Cant…cant let…no sleeping, no sleepy, he thought as he pushed himself away from the tree- worried he might even fall asleep standing up if he had something to lean again- and continued his aimless wandering- more like stumbling actually- through the forest. At this point, the destination didn’t matter, what mattered was that he kept going and did not let himself fall asleep, no matter how tired he got. Oh yeah, that was a coherent thought, Kazuki said into the back of Nataku’s mind, a distinct feeling of the mage rolling his eyes following the comment. Oh what’s the matter pet? Your body beginning to feel that lack of sleep you’ve been putting it through? You know it really isn’t healthy to do that to yourself; you should sleep. Then we could have some demon/child bonding time. The laugh, filled with the malice all too familiar to Nataku, that followed reminded the teen why he had been avoiding sleep despite how it was effecting him.

The mage possessing his body had finally figured out that he could ‘visit’ the elf in his dreams. Before that, the worst he had to deal with was the scathing comments in the back of his head and being forced to watch as the creature used his body to harm others when it was his turn to take control. Both had been horrible, but years of it had made the experience at least slightly bearable- at least he hadn’t lost his mind yet- but this…he couldn’t live with this. Kazuki hadn’t hidden his lust for control and blood over their years together, nor his dislike for Nataku’s weak and innocent spirit. The dream visits always consisted of the elf experiencing physical or emotional pain. He couldn’t stand it anymore, he couldn’t let himself all asleep.

You’re going to collapse eventually you know, tis just a matter of time. If you’d just lie down— “Stop it!” Nataku yelled, wishing he could clap his hands over his ears to shut out the voice. Oh kitty can roar, who’da thought? the spirit chuckled. You know I could take over any time at the exhaustion level you’re at. But you know what, I’m enjoying this a great deal. One more way to torture you, I’m just slightly ashamed it didn’t occur to me until it happened. I guess my mind is slipping in my old age. “Just…shut up, please…” the elf groaned as he slowly made his way down into a small ravine.

Nymeria spied a young elf stumbling through the forest, obviously plagued by voices, and wondered, Another like me?

She shook her head, her flawless face crowned by a river of red-gold tresses that shook with her head smoothly. That was impossible. While the young one was plagued by voices, it was obviously not the kind that she used to be coerced by. A mixture of her dragon and elven heritage and not a friend to her (this young one's clearly was not either though) but rather a manipulative spirit who wanted control of what she could potentially possess.

She felt sorry for the boy, knew that perhaps her abilities could ease his pain and stepped forward, into his line of sight.

"Hello," she greeted him, her voice calm, soothing, almost motherly in its intent and a serene smile graced her features. "I'm Nymeria Dragonsong." She was dressed in a Grecian style gown of pale blue, a shade that matched her eyes. It was this gown that she gathered up in her small, white as snow hands, and used to curtsy to the boy. "What's your name?"

As much as it was obvious she was of elven blood, it was clear there was dragon in there too for while her face and body were elven, there were large leathery wings of red that had claws as well that illustrated the dragon part. She had clenched them tightly to her back, hoping the boy wouldn't see.

After all, there was no point in scaring him out of his mind.

ooc: sorry for the delay, school started and I had to catch up on stuff in rl

As he made his way down into the small creek, Nataku felt his feet begin to slide on the damp leaves and dirt below him. Not surprisingly, he finally felt one fall out from under him after just a few moments, causing him to fall back on the slope behind him. The young elf almost gasped in relief as his body practically melded with the ground. It felt so incredibly wonderful to sit down, like the small act would renew his body if he only let himself stay there for a few minutes. Before he knew it, Nataku felt his eyelids starting to droop and his chin begin to move toward his chest, but with a strangled sob of frustration, he forced both movements to stop and began struggling to his feet.

Oh so close. I could have sworn that would have gotten ya. Who knew you actually had some strength in you, Kazuki chuckled as his host forced his limbs- that felt like they had gained at least ten pounds during that small break- to rise and keep him going. It was very difficult and he almost allowed himself to fall back onto the ground to rest, but the mage’s taunting voice in his head reminded him of why he was continuing on. You know, it really is a futile effort. This body is going to have to sleep eventually. No matter how hard you fight against it, it really is inevitable that it will collapse from lack of sleep at some point. The elf shook his head in response. “Not…right,” he managed to reply, though the strain of talking made him almost want to keep silent. “It will…affect you when you take over. One of us…will have to sleep…I know, but it could end up…being you.” A harsh laugh met his comment.

"Hello. I'm Nymeria Dragonsong. What's your name?"

Nataku had started keeping his eyes on the ground incase another root decided to try to trip him, but instantly raised his gaze at the woman’s voice. Golden orbs widened in surprise as he took her in. She was quite beautiful and he felt his cheeks warm. It had been a long while since he had seen another elf and though he tried to look away because he knew staring was rude, he simply couldn’t stop himself was gaping at her. Well good to see you actually are male. With the amount of screaming and whimpering you do, I was beginning to wonder if you were packing anything down there, Kazuki said with a snort of amusement.

“I…” Nataku's voice faltered and he blushed even further when he realized how horrible he must look. It had been a few days since he had had a chance to bathe in the river and he didn’t doubt he had quite a bit of debris in his hair by now, not to mention the bags that he knew just had to be under his eyes. He must look like a stable boy standing next to a princess. With a small cough, he cleared his throat and continued. “Good evening m’lady.” Surely he needed to give her a title of respect. “My name is Nataku, n-nice to…meet you,” he responded a bit awkwardly. Unfortunately, he wasn’t sure what to do after that, not that it would matter. The woman would most likely just continue on and leave him. She probably only greeted him because they were on the same path.

She heard the presence of the other and walked forward, not really noticing that Nataku was staring. If he was, she was used to it or immune. Being half-dragon and elf meant people stared, not all in a nice, flattering way.

When she stood before Nataku, her red-gold ringlets bouncing just slightly with its weight as she did and brushing her back soundlessly, she raised a slender, pale hand, and brushed back some of that debris. She smiled kindly at him still and said, "I'm pleased to meet you, Nataku. You look exhausted. No doubt you have traveled far. I wonder though, what could scare someone so strong as to stay awake this long? No doubt it is fear that has driven you to stay up. Unless I am mistaken." She didn't wait for a reply but instead kept going, hoping her soothing, almost liquid honey voice would persuade him to let her help him before she actually started the persuading.

"When I was young, perhaps ten or nine, I inheirited from my mother a very ancient power. One that hurt as much as it blessed for besides the fact that it gave me extra magick and power, it gave my mind a voice inside that plagued me. It ridiculed me day and night, often bringing up memories best left dead, and sometimes actually hurting me by bringing upon me headaches. My only solace was sleep for then I was so unconcious of both body and mind that I never heard it. You see, eventually the body and mind gets to a point when it is too tired to listen or think properly. When that happens, nature takes its course and..." she drifted off, her eyes a bit glassy at the memories of childhood both unhappy and surreal in their perfection.

She then snapped her gaze back to attention to the young elf and said to him, "However, if you can't sleep due to whatever plagues you, Nataku, I will gladly block whatever is doing you harm while you rest. I assure you that it can be done. I had it done myself by...myself." She smiled at him with serenity, her gaze and nature peaceful and comforting.

Re: Exhaustion level: 10 (open)
Nataku watched her hand rose up toward his head and almost flinched away from it. When he realized that its intention was simply to sweep some of the forest out of his hair, the young elf felt his cheeks burn with embarrassment, both toward his brief fear of what she was going to do and of what she was doing. Though she didn’t look threatening- she still looked beautiful and amazing in his opinion- he just hadn’t been able to stop his mind from instantly wondering if her hand was going to hurt him. Unfortunately he couldn’t say if that was because of the pain he experienced from the spirit or from those he had encountered; he had received pain from both. He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed for her noticing his dirty state either. As soon as the hand lowered, his own replaced it to quickly brush as much out of his hair as he could, leaving white locks to fall relatively clean around his face.

"I'm pleased to meet you, Nataku. You look exhausted. No doubt you have traveled far. I wonder though, what could scare someone so strong as to stay awake this long? No doubt it is fear that has driven you to stay up. Unless I am mistaken."

The young elf fidgeted as he listened to her. Though he knew she was accusing him of nothing but being scared of something, he couldn’t help but feel like a child caught in a lie by his parents. Of course, he hadn’t been trying to hide his exhaustion but…well he hadn’t meant for a stranger to figure so much out. However, now that he thought about it, perhaps she had made a simple deduction that anyone else could have. Nataku didn’t doubt that he looked as exhausted as he felt and she was right in her thought that it was fear driving him; little else could keep someone from sleeping for so long. He started to open his mouth to respond- though what he was going to say to that, he wasn’t sure- but stopped when she continued speaking.

As he listened to her story, golden eyes widened in surprise. It sounded so much like his story! Well parts of it did anyway; there were certainly parts that were quite different. How they got the voices in their head was far from alike, but they both still had someone else speaking to them in their mind. Both ridiculing us day and night and bringing up things to hurt us, he thought in both awe and anger. Interesting, very interesting. Too bad I cant body hop. I bet there are all kinds of interesting, painful memories in that pretty little head of hers, Kazuki chuckled. Hoping that he wouldn’t miss something important that she was telling him, Nataku ignored the spirit and continued to listen carefully.

Nataku expression instantly turned distant, like it always did when he focused his attention fully on the spirit inside him. The elf knew how the mage thought by now and knew that the woman’s offer of help would threaten the mage’s power and his fun. Knowing that, he had the feeling Kazuki would not be pleased and might very well come charging out like he always did when he was threatened. If that started to happen, he wanted to know as soon as possible so he could warn Nymeria. Oh don’t get your panties in a twist ya little runt, I’m not coming out. I highly doubt that little girl can do anything to me, and besides, it’s been a while since I've had a good battle of the minds with someone. You sure as hell dont put up much of a fight. Bring it on girl. “Um…” Nataku faltered, unsure whether he should concentrate on the other elf or Kazuki. “You can really…you’re sure…but you might…but he might get…I don’t know if that can be done with me, he’s so strong,” he admitted before clapping his hands over his mouth. He had never admitted having Kazuki inside him before- it was too dangerous- but he had just let it slip.

Her expression was amused as he mentioned the being inside him being strong. A wry smile lighted upon her features, lighting up the world almost as if a minature sun was in the aura around her, and she said, "We'll see."

The way she said it was almost, well, playful, as if the whole battle to come was a game and she knew all the rules and the other didn't. Well, perhaps it was such but she was strong, she knew.

"I doubt your voice is as strong as mine was. Mine had age, wisdom, accumulated power as well as a blood that breeds magic more truly than any other. Created by a goddess to be flawless and all-knowing, I managed to defeat him and in so doing, gained his power for my own," she said and then in a comforting manner, laid her gentle hand upon Nataku's shoulder. "I bid you to sleep for it would make my entrance into your mind easier. Here, let me sit. You can place your head in my lap and so not soil your hair and face upon the earth. It would make sleep far more comfortable and easily accessible, I assure you."

Her smile was loving, almost motherly again and she sat with a grace that most didn't gather their entire lives despite seeking it. "There, now lay your head upon my lap and sleep, Nataku. It shant take long and your sleep will hopefully be pleasant."

Re: Exhaustion level: 10 (open)
Nataku had to fight the urge to bolt as he waited to see how she would react to knowing there was a ‘him’ inside him. Unfortunately, past spills like that had caused him quite a bit of trouble. The elf remembered what happened a few months before when someone had figured out what was wrong with him- he didn’t know if the person had heard him talking to Kazuki or had seen them transform- and had informed the people in the village he was traveling through. Before he knew it, he had found himself on his rear outside the town with a group of men telling him to get lost, they didn’t want freaks like him around them; apparently possessions were contagious. What would Nymeria do now that she knew?

What kept him where he was, was the thought of finally being able to get a bit of rest, if what she said was true. Also, she had said she had had a similar problem. However, for all he knew, she might think him horrible and weak for not fighting off his little demon like she had done with hers, and hers sounded stronger no less. Though, she does seem genuinely concerned… Nataku started to think before Kazuki interrupted him, trying to fuel his doubt like he always did. Oh but can you be so sure? Is it worth the risk? Haven’t you trusted others before and found them letting you down or using you? the spirit whispered, knowing full well of at least two they had run into that had done so. Nataku’s only response was a small frown.

"There, now lay your head upon my lap and sleep, Nataku. It shant take long and your sleep will hopefully be pleasant."

Nataku found himself becoming almost entranced by the sound of her voice and her smile. They were so…oh he just didn’t know how to describe them. Despite his slight suspicion, he couldn’t help but relax as he watched her practically flow into a sitting position on the floor. The part of him that wasn’t completely hypnotized by her instantly felt guilty for making her sit on the ground in such a nice dress, but before he could stammer an apology, what she wanted him to do hit him. The young teen (he’s 13) looked down as he felt his cheeks warm yet again, but hesitantly lowered his body to the ground instead of protesting like he first planned. Hoping his face was too inflamed, he placed his head in her lap. “A-are you sure a-about th-this?” he stammered. “If-if it fails then I’ll…he’ll h-h-have me…” The elf quickly laid his arm over his eyes as he felt them starting to sting, not wanting the beautiful elf to see how weak he was.

Re: Exhaustion level: 10 (open)
She smiled kindly. "I understand your fears for I was certain myself when I fought mine that it would consume me before I got the first hit in but the fact of the matter is that I refuse and abhor the notion of a fine young elf like you getting taken over by a cheap little mage as you have. It won't happen, I assure you. Indeed, I will fight till I am certain it is done, be it ten minutes or ten years. Now relax, Nataku." She laid a warm, dove-like hand upon his brow and smoothed back some of his hair, "Rest your eyes, rest your body, rest your soul. Trust in me to do what is necessary."

And so she waited to see if he had any more protests or admissions before preparing herself to enter his mind. And when he shut his eyes and slept, she entered, flowing in her elven form through the mists and walls of memory and thought and intelligence, seeking the presence and finally finding it. "Alright mage, present your first test be it physical or mental."

Re: Exhaustion level: 10 (open)
Though he listened to her words, Nataku couldn’t help but concentrate on the feeling of her hand on his forehead more. If he could have leaned into it, he would have. It reminded him a great deal of his mother’s hands, not that he planned on telling Nymeria that of course, since he hardly saw her in a motherly light at the moment. The comfort was what made him think of his mother. She had been the last person to touch him kindly like this. How many years ago had that been? It had been so long he couldn’t really remember; everything had blurred together so much. Since his parents had been killed, it had just been one torturous day after another; years simply didn’t matter. He still remembered everything from before quite clearly and couldn’t help but love the small touch.

It was her hand, more than her words, that encouraged him enough to allow his eyes to drift close. The exhaustion Nataku had been trying to fight off brought him into slumber in a matter of seconds, his mind more than happy to drift off despite his fears.

*********************
(inside his mind)
Kazuki smirked as he looked around the empty blackness that surrounded him, knowing that in a few moments that pretty little elven girl was going to join him in hopes of chasing the horrible mage out of poor Nataku’s innocent mind. It was going to be an enjoyable night indeed. When he had first realized what she intended to do, the mage had thought about changing the scenery for their battle, however he had decided against it in the end. The blackness, that allowed one to see only themselves and the other living beings inside and feel the ground- though not see it- below their feet, tended to confuse and frighten Nataku a great deal. From the way she had been talking, Kazuki wasn’t counting on it to frighten Nymeria, but he didn’t doubt it would confuse her at least a bit, perhaps disorientating her and making this even more fun.

When she finally graced him with her presence, Kazuki had arranged himself on a kind of chair that appeared the same as the blackness around them. Essentially, it looked like he was sitting on air, with one leg pulled up to his chest and the other dangling as though over a seat. The mage watched her for a moment, wondering what she thought of the being that looked so much like the one she was trying to save. The only differences between the two were their ages and a few subtle details. Kazuki’s eyes were slitted and held none of Nataku’s kindness, and his fangs were certainly an accessory his better half did not have. Other than that, he simply looked like an older version of the elf.

"Alright mage, present your first test be it physical or mental."

His smirk widening, Kazuki jumped to his feet and spread his arms to motion to the area around them. “Welcome to my humble abode m’lady. I hope you find it cozy, I know I do and I’m so excited to have some company. It isn’t often that we get a visitor in here. Speaking of ‘we,’ we seem to be missing a bit part of this whole adventure,” he replied, eyes shining with malicious intent. The mage glanced at the area by his feet, where a moment later Nataku began to rise. When the boy was fully through the abyss and standing on the ‘floor’ he opened his eyes and looked around in confusion like he always did before he figured out if he was dreaming or awake. The boy’s shoulders drooped instantly, causing the spirit to chuckle as he draped his arms over them.

“Welcome pet. As you can see, your guest has already arrived,” Kazuki said as he rested his chin on Nataku’s shoulder. He felt the elf tense, but like always, nothing came of it. Since he was able to see the boy’s thoughts whether he was awake or not, the spirit knew what was going through his mind. Though the boy wanted to fight back or run, he knew that it would make his situation worse. As much as Kazuki liked hurting helpless creatures that didn’t fight back, he found even more joy in breaking anything showing fight and spirit. It was safer for the elf to simply let the mage do what he wished. “So Miss…Nymeria was it? What do you plan on doing now what you are with us, hm? This is my realm. You’ll find it to be a difficult task to take my toy away from me, I’m really quite a selfish person.” With that said, he moved his hand up to Nataku’s throat and slowly began squeezing until the boy was obviously having difficulties breathing. It was meant as a taunt to his new opponent; he was curious to see how she reacted.

She eyed the mage with a coldness that would have shattered ice, her eyes the color of water in winter: almost white. The blackness trick did nothing for her. After all, her dragonself had tried a similar tactic, those it had chosen a completely green maze that took her three hours to find out how to operate. The blackness was so simple it was child's play to her.
One, after all, isn't an Empress in one's own country from being a moron.

Nataku came into being in his own mind and she didn't quite bite her tongue but most certainly saw with a slight wrinkle in her brow that this would complicate matters. She kept her eyes then on the mage, reminded of her uncle and half-brother, those evil men who had hidden her away with only books and darkness as company.

“Welcome pet. As you can see, your guest has already arrived,” and Kazuki rested his chin on Nataku's shoulder, placing a hand around the boy's neck to suffocate him.

She shrugged then, nonchalant, knowing that it was better to be neutral and confound the mage then to give in and be outraged or let emotions drive her.

"Well," she said, stretching out her blood-red wings, each weighing that same as her own body and just as long, and crafting out of sheer flame a chair that she herself could sit on at her leisure, "I plan, first of all, of getting Nataku from your grasp so that he can breath. Then, well, we shall see how things go from there. However, I wish you hadn't brought the boy. That really does make this all too easy." She glanced around, arching a brow at the blackness. "Now then, tell me, who is your decorator? Either you haven't the time to do this mind business properly or the creativity. I wonder which it is." There was trace of a mocking smile as she said it, her voice remaining pleasant as if they were conversing on the weather and nothing more.

"So, are you going to stop playing child's games or actually get your hands dirty? I want this to be interesting you know." She yawned, lifting up her small hand to cover a perfectly-formed mouth and then said, "Then again, I should go easy on you. My own voice was over a billion millenia old, born from an all-powerful goddess's whim and a dragon."

Thus saying, she rose and moved towards the mage, her grace and eloquence speaking even through those simple movements. When she stood fairly close to him, so close that one movement of her lips would have clasped the mage's in a passive kiss, she smiled a bit more and said, "Put away your toy, mage, this is between us and to bring something like that in...tsk tsk...what a coward you must be..." Her eyes were playful, almost seductive. Anyone who didn't know her would think she was turning sides, seeing the power held here and converting herself over to its embrace.
Re: Exhaustion level: 10 (open)
Nataku finally couldn’t stand it any longer and reached up to try to yank the mage’s hand away from his throat. It felt like his windpipe was going to be crushed beneath that grip any moment. His lungs burned with the need for air, his head spun making him feel like the world was going to drop out from underneath him or his stomach was going to reintroduce him to his lunch, and it hurt. This had never happened to him before. Bruises, gashes, burns, he’d experienced all those, but this was the first time someone had tried to strangle him. It wasn’t just painful. The need to breathe was about to drive him mad. Please Kazuki. For the love of God, let me go! the young elf pled as he continued to struggled, even going so far as to try to kick the man behind him.

With a raised eyebrow, Kazuki looked over at his host. The boy was actually trying to fight back? That was not something he had seen very often; it was a bit surprising…and a bit annoying. At the moment, he needed to keep his attention on the intruder, not on the little runt and his futile struggles. Nataku was there to make this more enjoyable, not become a hindrance to him. He had thought to go easy on the boy if he proved useful to antagonize the woman, a small bit of softness he would not likely show again or continue to show if the stupid elf didn’t stop his damn struggling! “Stop, before I lose my temper,” he growled quietly in Nataku’s ear when he felt a sharp kick to his shin. Though he would have rather increased the pressure on the boy’s neck, Kazuki reluctantly eased up enough for his other half to get a bit of air. He then dug his nails into the elf’s arm in a silent warning to keep still. With a small whimper, Nataku complied.

"Now then, tell me, who is your decorator? Either you haven't the time to do this mind business properly or the creativity. I wonder which it is."

A smirk graced Kazuki’s lips as he turned his attention back to his guest. Though her comment was of course meant to insult him, he found himself rather amused by it. It was nice to meet someone who had spunk and knew the joy of ‘friendly’ banter before a fight. It was a lost art form really. “Oh you don’t like it? I apologize. I find the darkness quite soothing really, as does my pet. Besides I saw no reason to clutter up our battlefield with useless bits of scenery. If you wish for me to provide you with something to hide behind, though, I’d be more than happy to oblige, you are our humble guest after all. I wouldn’t want to be rude. I could summon up some tea if you’re thirsty.”

“Then again, I should go easy on you. My own voice was over a billion millenia old, born from an all-powerful goddess's whim and a dragon."

Kazuki released Nataku’s arm and raised a hand to his mouth as though he was surprised. “Really? I was not aware of that. Thank you for informing me, I feel horrible for not properly quaking in fear before now. I must have truly offended you.” He chuckled. “As for putting away my toy—” Nataku winced as the word was used twice in a row to describe him. It was bad enough for Kazuki to refer to him as his pet or his toy, but to have her say it was well… “And getting my hands dirty. I believe it was you who intruded on our thoughts. You are the one with business to attend to here. I was simply being polite and letting you make the first move my dear,” the mage purred as he watched her walk toward the two of them.

Nymeria was quite attractive, he had to admit, especially with those wings of hers. It seemed like ages since he had met a woman with such exquisite features who didn’t scream in fear at the slightest thing; it was quite a shame that she was fighting for the other side. Now quite intrigued, he simply watched as she moved close enough for him to feel her breath on his lips. Kazuki felt the boy standing between them fidget, no doubt uncomfortable with being pinned between the two of them. In fact, the mage could almost feel the heat burning from the young elf’s cheeks. He listened to what she said and chuckled. “You seem very eager to have nothing between the two of us. I wasn’t aware that that was your intention for being here. I would move him,” he replied as he leaned closer so he could whisper in her ear. “but that would leave me vulnerable to any attack you are planning now that you have me at such a close proximity.”

After moving towards him and seeing he had almost no intention to remove Nataku from the battle field she looked to the young elven boy and sent him a meaningful glance that meant, very plainly, 'Struggle, Nataku, make my job a tad bit easier.'
She smiled a bit, her white teeth reflecting a light that didn't exist in such blackness. It was a near shocking contrast, one that she enjoyed. "Ha! So you are a coward. Thinking to cower behind Nataku...Such an action does truly deem you unworthy to call yourself a mage. Mages take their chances. Mages are wise and brave. Mages...well...aren't you, obviously." She paused but a moment, looking him over with an assessing gaze that made most feel naked. Finally, she stared quite deeply into his eyes, seeking his soul, and said, "I loved an Angel Dark named Leareth. He was far more malicious than you and..." she smirked, "much more dangerous. He was slightly insane, actually. But unlike you, he had a chance for redemption." She paused again, thinking a bit of Leareth though keeping the greater part of her attention on Kazuki and Nataku. "You might be wondering why I'm telling you this. The fact is, I want to show you that you stand no chance. I won the heart of an Angel Dark and brought him nigh unto salvation. He was the only challenge I've had so far. Compared to him, you shall be nothing for your salvation shall be attained through force and I have plenty of that."
With a great amount of care, she backed five steps, summoned her sheathed sword Ise, removed the blade, and then got rid of the sheath. The sword bared with a gorgeous sight. Like a shard of ice, it shone and glimmered at one time sapphire and another as white as Nymeria's teeth. Sometimes it would strike clear and sing with a note so pure it made most cry. Nymeria's eyes remained dry, however, and all her trust went into her blade.

"I get first move then? Alright then." she murmured and immediately she moved backwards more than a mile and before her and Kazuki and Nataku lay a grand obstecle course in which some parts would not allow Kazuki to hold Nataku to him. Some parts blocked Kazuki's magic and others he would have to rely upon magic completely to get through for his strength would be sapped from his limbs.

She awaited on the other side, relaxing on her reclining couch, Ise bare at her side.
Nataku swallowed and tried to stop fidgeting as he continued to stand between the two. It was beyond uncomfortable, especially with the odd flirting that seemed to be going on above his head. The situation was bad enough at the moment as it was without anything weird like that going on. His face flamed further as he thought about what might happened if the two of them weren’t kidding and let the whole thing go on. No, it must be an act. She-she said she had gone into his mind to help him, not- he swallowed- get together with his inner demon. Nataku quickly glanced up at Nymeria, in hopes that he could see what she was thinking, and caught the look she was giving him. She wanted him to struggle, no doubt it was making it difficult for her to fight Kazuki with him standing there. But I…I cant… The young elf hung his head as he continued to obediently stand and do nothing.
Ha! So you are a coward. Thinking to cower behind Nataku...Such an action does truly deem you unworthy to call yourself a mage.
Kazuki moved so that his chin was resting on the top of Nataku’s head as he simply watched the woman, waiting patiently for her to finish her little insulting speech. Had he been in a bad mood such a speech would have angered him and driven him to finally push away his little toy and fight. However, at the moment he was having too good a time and he knew that she was doing that just so that he would release his hostage. When she finally finished, he simply chuckled. “Aww come on, am I really that bad? Be careful, you’re coming very close to hurting my feelings,” he grinned. “Well let’s address this shall we. Sorry to disappoint you, but I am not cowering behind my little pet. He is simply here to be the pre-battle entertainment and he has done a fine job so far; your little act there to get close to him was certainly entertaining.”
“Now, I do admit that he was a shield just briefly while you were trying to use those sexy looks of yours to get near me, but I hardly consider that a cowardly move on my part. I call it strategy. If you had attacked right then, when there was so little distance between us, I would have been hard pressed to block. I don’t see that as an action unbefitting of a mage. If your idea of a mage is a careless fool, then unfortunately I would have to admit I don’t fit into that category. However, might I point out, that I was no that one having to resort to sexual appeal to try to catch my enemy off guard,” the spirit replied lightly.
The two watched as Nymeria started walking back and unsheathed her sword. Kazuki had to admit it was quite magnificent; it was a shame that this dream world wasn’t real enough for him to take it from her. Before the spirit or his tamer could do anything, however, the woman suddenly moved back so far Kazuki could no longer spot her, due mainly to the sudden obstacle course that appeared in front of him. “Oh you’ve got to be kidding me,” he grumbled as he let go of Nataku’s shoulders and stepped back. However, before the young elf could even think to run off, Kazuki’s hand shot out and grabbed a handful of his white locks.
The mage turned him around so they were face to face. Though the spirit’s expression remained calm, his voice his usual malice. “Go stand over there. I don’t think I have to tell you what will happen if you try to make this difficult for me do I?” he said quietly. Nataku shook his head silently. “Good, now go play,” Kazuki finished as he pushed the elf away from him, almost causing the young boy to fall to the floor. Nataku moved as far as he dared go- there was no telling what might be hidden in the darkness out there- away from the course and turned to watch. “And she called me a coward,” Kazuki grumbled as he looked at the span of land separating them. Knowing she probably wouldn’t hear him from that distance even if he shouted, the mage simply shook his head and started forward, his expression no longer showing amusement, but boredom. Was putting a few things in his path all she could come up with?
