Name: Neonautilus necopinus gigantos is the scientific name; "Bathos" was given to it for the sake of simplicity, by human scientists who claim that it exists, but really can't prove it. Also Xenonautilus necopinus gigantos (giant unexpected strange nautilus). 
 
Species: An ancient relative of the Chambered Nautilus, highly radioactive due to concentrated levels of heavy metals and other elements contained within it’s body, not excluding mercury, cadmium, arsenic, chromium, thallium, lead, uranium, thorium and several others, including large concentrations of iron. The DNA was altered to the extremes, classifying it as an entirely different mutation of Nautilus pompilius. Neonautilus necopinus gigantos explains it roughly with "giant unexpected new nautilus". It is far more advanced than any known sea life. 
 
Gender: It contains both male and female reproductive organs, and reproduces asexually (however unsuccessfully). 
 
Evil/Good (directly connected with Personality)  :   The concepts of 'good' and 'evil' are irrelevant to Bathos. It is neither, it just is. Some might consider it to be evil, certainly because of that lack of concept, and likely because of its strange and alien appearance. It is a creature of the very deep sea, where survival is key, and love and hate do not exist. It just happens, things down there just happen, and Bathos accepts it for what it is, making it seem cold and unfeeling to other creatures. It has no mercy, and no warmth towards others, is coldly didactic, and analyzing. 
 
Age/Mature Adult At Age: Bathos evolved from a very early form of life, about 3.8 (3,800,000,000) billion years ago, in the warm shallow seas of the young earth. Even then it stayed to the bottom-most places, preffering dark rocky crags and lightless places, hunting and evolving. It is mature, but still always changing and growing, so seeming eternally 'growing up'. It reproduces by laying billions of white, golf-ball sized eggs. 
 
Apperance/Abilities: One the bottom of the ocean, Bathos is a vast mass of writhing tentacles, similar to a squid or a nautilus. The tentacles are attached to a centrally located 'head' or 'body', just like a squid, except that Bathos can alter the shape from torpedoed and streamlined when jetting at high speeds, to globular, like an octopus, when 'crawling' on the bottom, or when feeling the area out. The body, when fully expanded in either shape, can be either three thousand feet in circumference or three thousand feet long, with over nine hundred two thousand foot long tentacles...your regular sea monster. This form is transulcent but glowing green is the brain and nervous system, blue the circulatory system, the large suckers on its tentacles a deep purple, the long grooves on the arms a deep red, and everything else a clear color, with mottled pinks, oranges and yellows on the 'surface'. The eyes are large silver-white orbs with round black pupils, huge and impassive eyes. The tentancles ring a huge five part gleaming black beaked mouth, with opens upon a mouth cavity lined with ripping raduli (tongues). The grooves in the tentacles are lined with black hooking barbs. 
 
But Bathos has this dissadvantage: the huge size may be great for bottom dwelling, under huge amounts of atmospheric pressure, but poor for surface dwelling. Like many deep sea animals, if it is its original size and taken to the surface, it would almost literally disintigrate when touched. To compensate for this, Bathos shrinks, contracts its molecular structure into a more compact form. Because of Bathos' highly elastic nature, it can easily contract to the size of a large humanoid form, but it's far from human in appearance. Standing roughly eight feet tall and about four foot through, it bears only a vaguely humanoid face, legs, and primitive arms ending in clumsy looking four fingered hands. The back and shoulders are a mass of tentacles, each grooved and suckered. The eyes are the same impassive silver-white eyes of the original form, and the face is noseless, sporting instead two long slits running from between the eyes around to where the ears would have been on a human, the amphibious breathing apparatus of Bathos in this form. The mouth is covered with shorter tentacles, but it is still the black, five part beak and raduli. The grooves in the tentacles are lined with black hooking barbs. The entire form is structurally supported by an internal skeleton of metal, and the outer skin is either covered in gray metal plates of lead or so much lead is incorporated into the skin that it appears to be made of metal. 
 
The amphibious humanoid form is more compacted, and the metals in it's body are drawn to the inside to form a skeletal structure, and a damn hard one at that. What's neat is that the radioactive metals are drawn to the center of the being, and the body developes an outer layer of lead plating, keeping the radiation inside. It can be both extremely strong and entirely gentle, and very deft in it's movements. 
 
Anything Else: Bathos' other abilities include being amphibious, being capable of advanced telepathy as a result from complex brain systems (created by 'tuning in' to the brain waves and speech patterns of the creature it is conversing with, and then creating a conversation within the creatures own mind), a highly organized and analytical brain, and the capability to see heat signatures and electrical impulses associated with brain and nerve activity. Batho's is also capable of limb regeneration, and advanced healing. It is capable of going from salt to fresh water, but must also return to water, though it can hold enough in it's body to surve a few days out of water. 
 
A strong smell of ammonia and lead accompanies it. 
 
Family/History: Fortunately for the rest of the world, most of Bathos' eggs either don't hatch or result in such twisted, physically impossible creatures that they don't survive for more than a year in the ocean before dying or falling prey to other dangers. There have been sightings of Bathos ocean wide, both by human divers and military personnel. Human scientists took these sightings and tried to work of them, but there was hardly anything to go by, and they became the laughingstock of the scientific community. Bathos remained a mystery. 
 
Bathos is a digger, and has been partially responsible for the excavation of the forest floor in a deep trench. Bathos has been exploring the deep cliff of the land shelf, following the current of an underground river. It has since been digging out a 'river tunnel' under the surface of the land for many years now, and it finally came out into a huge underwater lake, buried deep underneath the mountains. This lake filtered out into another underground river, and then into a huge land locked body of water, which drained into it's own river and finally spread out among the swamps.

The Rivers Deep. Bathos knew it to be that name, after recording the brainwaves of a surface creature that passed by for a drink. Bathos had not spoken to the creature, only left it alone. 
 
It sat on the silty rocky bottom, feeling the confines of the lake out with it's long tentacles, exploring the murky black depths. This was the deepest part. Light did not reach here, and was replaced only by the glowing of the huge radioactive squid. 
 
Impassive silver-white eyes staring about and recorded the movements of fish as they darted by. A sticky tentacle shot out and slapped against a large specimen, and drew it struggling to the large beaked mouth, where it was torn apart and processed by the working raduli. 
 
And Bathos contracted, and surfaced. 
 
A creature out of some horror movie emerged slowly from the water, tentacles writing and touching, exploring the surrounds, as the great slits in its inhuman face flared and absorbed oxygen. 
 
Iron gray and seemingly plating or made of metal, only the large round silver-white eyes broke the drab, glistening iron gray of the form. 
 
It perched on the sand, watching emotionlessly, water dripping off it in trickles.

The smell of rotten flesh travled slightly on the air. Flies buzzed over the body of a walking corpse. The beast was much more a skeleton of a six foot dire wolf, but still insects buzzed in the remains of a brain and the little bits that stuck to the bones. Black diamond plates reflected the light on various places of the body. 
 
The hollowed skull lifted to the sound of water. The white bones littered with pieces of reamins walked at the same pace. Paw bones never picking up a wider gait to move shoulders and hips. 
 
None existant eyes saw the creature, but stayed behind some foliage. No nose sniffed as the skeleton raised its head to do so. Seafood... 
If only the saber toothed skull could eat... 
 
The wolf of bones stepped forth swaying a collection of short tailbones behind. "Hello?"

There was the strong, burning smell of ammonia thickened by the thick metallic tang of lead, as Bathos turned its head slowly, the tentacled lower half of its face writhing as the breathing slits expanded once more. There was a raspy clicking noise that seemed to come from it, but from where it emmanated was unknown. 
 
Tentacles from behind wrapped around its torso, the thick suckers facing outwards, and two silver-white eyes dead to emotion stared impassively at the thing that approached. 
 
It was dead. Bathos knew dead things. Bathos also knew dead things didn't walk or talk. But here was a dead thing, doing exactly those things. Fine. Bathos accepted it for what it was, in the habit of the deep sea creature. 
 
No hint of its thoughts showed. 
 
It spoke aloud. Bathos spoke to its mind.

The creature repeated Blood's own words. The skeleton did nothing, but sighed. His body moved as though he took a breath and exhaled. Ribs moved in and out as if lungs still forced them into movement. 
 
Lower jaw bone moved on its hinge as he went to speak, how it stayed in the air with nothing to whole it was one of many questions left unanswered. "If you are just going to repeat what I say then I will move on." he said with nothing, "I can stare at a tree and speak to it to have the same effect." 
 
Bones cracked as the wolf took a step.

Again the clicking rasping noise, and Bathos twisted, it's body seeming to writhe as it changed position. 
 
"If you are just going to repeat what I say then I will move on." he said, "I can stare at a tree and speak to it to have the same effect." 
 
The voice came back, emotionless.

"But what would I get from a tree but the echo of my own words?" replied the skeleton, "I have no need of knowing how moist the soil is or how dry it's been lately." He shook out his body throwing insects in several directions along with loose tissue. 
 
His body cracked and crunched under the pressure of another step, "So, tell me, what brings you from the river?"
