Raine sighed at the question, for there were so many answers. "Alright, fine. I'll give the good 'uns first. Lesse.. there are pixies, elves, more elves, different kinds of elves, wolves, dogs, angels, pheonixes, gryhpons, unipegs, unicorns, of course, I even saw a winged cat once. Hope that's enough. There are many more, but you'll hafta find out for yourself. Now for the evil, much more interesting I'd say," He added with a grin. 
 
"There are shapeshifers, ghosts, evil unicorns, wolves and gryphons again, and some others that none know for sure what they are, and dark elves. Ah, and let us not forget, vampires." He added the last statement because he had already guessed what Christian was. Half angel, half vampire. For no angel wishes to fight, and none are that pale. 
 
"Yes, you'll fit right in here, Christian, with the wierdo creatures we got here." 
 
Hmm, he's very defensive, isn't he.., Raine thought, and he then thought of Kiyanu. She was defensive too, but it was just a facade. She had an offensive side. Perhaps he did too. But Raine wouldn't delve into Christian's personality just yet. Maybe when they met again.

Skyshadow shook his head at Raine's blunt analysis of the different species in Deep Forest, however he said nothing, intense brown eyes watching the newcomer's face curiously for any reactions, ones that may or may not need his help in diffusing.

Christian felt a twinge inside himself at the mention of those creatures. "Vampires!" His face remained stone cold, giving away no sign of anything within himself. One thing Christian had mastered over his years in exhile was to hide any and all emotion, especially to strangers. The thought of vampires through a log on Christians fire of anger. Whilst he had accepted that he was a half-vampire, and sometimes embraced this fact, he did had certain..."issues" with other Vampires. Christian mentally analysed the Elf's pidgeonholing of Vampires into the Evil basket. "I cannot blame him though" thought Christian. "I have never come across a Vampire of smiles yet, and a part of me does fall into that stereotype". Christian would wish to learn more of the solitary being that Raine had mentioned...this...Kiyanu. 
 
Careful not to get trapped on a one way road of thought, Christian thought about all the other creatures that Raine had spoke of. "Elves. Unicorns. Flying felines" Chrstian thought intenselly about the strange differant lives he would encounter here, and also wondered about Raines distinct preference towards the dark creatures in the forest. He felt a slight pang of nervousness strike his stomach, although no-one would ever guess. "Have I been alone so long? So long that I've forgotten what its like to care, to be cared for, to have, to give...to love". 
 
Christian turned away from the mischievous dark elf, towards Skyshadow. 
 
"It seems to me the line between good and evil in this great land is a thin one. " 
 
Christian turned back to look at Raine 
 
"You already spoke of this winged unicorn...the one you say defends this land, although you say she is most differant now. What about the other leaders of the land? Without beings at the forefront of thriving colonies, madness would ensue. Who holds the major cards of power in these woodlands? I would wish to know whom I might need to speak to if a...problem should arise"

"Well, there are leaders of colonies for certain species, like dragons and elves and such, but the two main ones are Gaeva, the unicorn, and the Lord of the Mountain. Lord of the Mountain is shrouded in mystery for me, I know not exactly what he is. What I do know is that he holds incredible power, and resides in the Boundary Mountains, seperate from the forest. Also, another unicorn called Gaevan, but he's just a guardian of the forest. Might not want to cross him."

Skyshadow inclined his head slightly. "The line is slight because it depends mostly one what you classify as evil. After all, just because someone's view are a bit different than yours does not mean they are evil, though some seem to believe that is how it goes," the brown centaur said wisely.

Christian's mind swam at such a prospect. "Surely not" he thought. "Surely I cant have stumbled across a land of anti-judgementality, where creatures and beings can live together, with no fear of being labelled". Christian swore he felt a flutter of happiness in his heart, but it faded as he remembered the raw black colour that his blood pump was designed with.

Christian thought about this statement by Raine. "I might not want to cross him? But maybe I do want to cross him. Maybe the people with the most to defend would offer up the greatest source of sheer, brutal battle". Christian shook his head slightly, removing the violent thoughts that sometimes plagued his mind. 
 
"I wish to enter this great land. Whom do I seek permission from to walk upon the conflicted soil of this magnificent forest?"

Skyshadow paused thoughtfully, momentarily at a loss for words. "Gaeva used to...but...." he glanced at Raine as if somehow he would know the answer. The demon centaur had not been much of a greeter since Gaeva had left, having been looking for her after all...

"Gaeva used to...but..." 
 
Christian silently, mentally kicked himself. "Tread more carefully next time" thought Christian to himself. "This land has been plagued with a larger amount of damage than I first suspected. My questions will have to be more careful". The severity of the situation was dawning on him. These people, these creatures had been hurt. To what expect was anybodys guess, but Christian felt an urge to help them. At the same time, an imaginary, fanged, white skinned wolf in Christians chest was clawing at his heart, telling him to feed off these people in their slight mentally frail states. Christian shook both feelings off, his heart settling, his mind clearing. 
 
"Do the fights continue?"

"Eh, you'll have to find that out for yourself," Raine said, not for any particular reason, just because he was tired of questions. "I'm leaving. Have fun gettin' in, Christian. Maybe I'll see you around some time." 
 
He hoped he didn't come across as too mean. He was just trying to prepare Christian for what he would encounter. Maybe the next time he would even try to be a friend to him.

Christian watched Raine leave. The prospect of finding out if battles still raged was an exciting one, but one that may require company. "I hope to meet this one again" thought Christian.

Skyshadow bobbed his head in agreement, simply because he was not quite sure when nor where the inevitable battles would rage.

With that, Christians huge black wings spread and he lifted into the sky, sending swirls of dust flying around the floor. Christian disappeared into the trees...

Skyshadow smiled at Christian, then he too faded into the surrounding forest that was his home.
