Raine walked slowly into the forest, his hand in Kiyanu's. He scoweled at the majectic, <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>beautiful</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> trees. Powerful, yet gentle. Everything about them he hated. He hid his expression from Kiyanu, not wanted her to think he was 'cold hearted'. If that line wasn't already crossed, of course.

Kiyanu was looking the other direction while Raine was showign his distaste of their surroundings, and she didn't notice a thing. She was looking between the trees at some oddly shaped shadows, and it was very quiet.<br>
"Hey, Raine... what are you thinking? You're pretty quiet."

"She liked trees," he said quietly, dejectedly. He hadn't realized that she had asked him. "Loved them."<br>

His mind was full of memories of his first love. She was gorgeous. He could stare into her eyes for hours, amazed at how deep, secretive, yet warm they seemed. She was the only one who ever had calmed his fiery spirit. Made him settle down, at least for awhile. He missed her, but at the same time, loathed her. With every fiber of his being.<br>

"I'm fine, Aeryn." He muttered, and then realized what he had said. "Er, I'm fine, Kiyanu." He covered himself up, hoping she wouldn't notice his slip up, or if she did, wouldn't care. "I'm.. sorry, about that.. " He squeezed her hand tighter, not so much to make her uncomfortable.<br>

He looked at her eyes, and realized they were much, much like Aeryn's. He stared for awhile at them, just as he had with her, so many times before.

Kiyanu looked into Raines eyes, and hers filled with sadness. She relised that he was thinking about his past girlfriend, and found that she was a little jelous, and dropped his hand.<br>
"Hey, are you having second thoughts about us? I mean, she must be gorgeous, and I'm flattered that you just called me Aeryn, but if you're all depressed, than why are we even... well.. us?" she asked, not angry, more like sad and taken back. She looked away from him, and found that she had something in her eye...

Raine's eyes turned fierce, not at Kiyanu, but at himself. "Kiyanu.." He started to say, but then he turned her around. He always thought it best to let his actions talk for him. Thus, he pulled her towards him and locked his lips with hers, not caring if any others saw him. "I'm sorry. I'm not.. having second thoughts. I promise."

Kiyanu received the kiss, and heard his words. She smiled, trusting him, and completely pushed away the rules about male Elves she had learned as a royal child. She enjoyed the kiss, and it made her happy.<br>
"Thank you, I trust you. I'm sorry, perhaps I should think twice before I speak..."

"You had every right to say what you did. And I don't think twice before I speak, so I don't care if anyone else does as well." He smiled, glad that Kiyanu took his mistake so well, and glad that her eyes showed she enjoyed the kiss. He put his hand back in hers, where he thought it belonged.<br>

He never imagined finding love like this again after Aeryn. He swore to himself that he would not fall in love again, would not get hurt again. She was the only person who had ever made the 'cold-hearted' Raine Gabria weep.
