Reply A Unicorn Child Comes To The Forest
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Tracy (pronounced TRAH-cee)

Gender: Female

Species: Unicorn Child (unicorn centaur, or unicentaurian)

Age: 1027 years

Mature Adult at Age: 20 (physically) 100 (magically)

Evil/Good: Good

Appearance: Very beautiful, eternally young kind of creature. Her lower body is a luminescent white, with light gold splashes on her haunches, light gold stockings and cleft hooves. The hair falls over her hooves like a curtain. Her tail is like a squirels: long and thin, with bushy fluffy hair of the same white as her body, the hair long and very silky to the touch. She stands about eleven hands at her forequarters (some of the big males can range over seventeen hands at the forequarters). Her upper body has skin of alabastor rose; her hair is light gold and very long, tumbling in soft silky waves and curls over her shoulders, down her back and around her foreqaurters. She often wears a crown of wild flowers, and braids adorned with carved stone beads interwoven with more flowers. Her face and upper body are that of a young woman in her prime, complete with shapely breasts and all (she doesn't wear anything to cover herself, for the body is a natural work of art, and derserves to be displayed as such). Her lips are full and pink, often curved in a quiet, confident smile. Her eyes are large and a bright, clear blue, and a light gold horn spirals from her forehead, coming to a sharp point. Her ears are long and horse-like, covered and tufted with silky white hair. A kind of aura surrounds her with peace, happiness and light.

Personality: She's quiet and kind, softly but well spoken. She loves children and nature.

Abilities: She has a very powerful kind of magic that nullifies and dispells all evil magics. It extends as far as two or three feet around her body, the full extent of her aura, which is like a soft pale mist of light. When she walks over the ground flowers and ferns sprout in her hoof steps, and dead and dying plants and trees are restored to their full health and rigor. Her magic is a cleansing power, allowing good to resurface from the ugly and scarred. She has the ability to soul speak: talk to the souls of others that are trapped underneath the thinking mind. Her horn can heal and purify the mind body and soul. Her aura, and when she sings, creates a field of magic that calms the angry, soothes the panicked, upset and sorrowful, eases the pained and slows everything down to a fuzz comfortable stillness that is also a healing agent. She corrects the bad, makes the good better, and cares for all living things.

Her physical strengths are fast running, leaping long distances, dancing (yes, the Children can dance), and swimming. They are poor climbers, but their swift hooves make them very fast and hard to catch. Mountain climbing is about the only climbing they can do, because they are capable of leaping from boulder to pinnacle.

Family/ History: She is from a long ancient line of earth-tenders, who had been created as very long lived mortals by the earth goddess Sefaria after She had created the Earth. The Children were blended of chosen men and women and White Unicorns, the purest form of magical animal life. They were set forth to tend life and nature until the ends of their very long lives. Their life cycles are complicated, involved with lot's of thorough care and ritual.

As children, the unicentaurians are virtually helpless: they do not begin to develope their magical powers until puberty (around 13 years of age). They can do minor healing magic (the kind that allows them to heal their own small cuts, scrapes, and minor bruises) and the young spend many years schooling in earth tending, for it must be taught and learned to be fully understood. Believe it or not, the average "classroom" for these youngsters is an open forest glen or quiet grotto, each place usually equiped with water and plentiful plant life.

They reach sexual maturity at 20 years of age, but can start having children whenever they choose. Most reach magical maturity at age 100, give or take a few years, the earliest being about 95, and the latest 105. From then on, unless they are attacked and killed by outside sources, they live very long lives, the longest known being about two million years (this is, of course, in the extreme: this age hasn't been reached since the very few and first have passed to their rest).

The average life span is about 7 to 10 thousand years. Afterward they wander away and become the Untouched: basically their bodies simply mist away and their purely benevolent souls are left to free flight on the earth. On the solstices and mid season days and nights these souls will congregate in gatherings, in places of water: streams, water meadows, springs bubbling from rocks, rivers, oceans, you name it and they're probably gathered there.

These are the only times the souls can gather themselves and create images of their former bodies, and here the living and passed and can celebrate life together.

Anything else: They are able to detect all forms of breathing life, so it is impossible to hide from them.

IC:

Tracy's hooves made no sound as she walked from the wastelands into the forest, leaving behind the beauty of an oasis: flowers, trees and ferns stretched in a straight line, following her hoof-steps. Her aura was bright this morning, radiating in white light. Her golden hair flashed in the sunlight, and her white lower body gleamed with luminescence.

As she walked slowly among the trees, flowers sprouting in her wake, Tracy explored this forest that was new to her.
((ooc)) Hi... hope this isn't too graphic, but... I figured, if Tracy doesn't wear clothing (natural work of art, and all that...), it wouldn't be fair if Roose did, either... after all, he's also a work of art. Well... you wouldn't put pants (or, as I heard was done, a fig leaf) on the Statue of David, now, would you? Anyway, here's hoping you don't go blind.... ((ooc))

------------------------------------------------------------

Roose's feet made very little sound as he danced, out along the edge of the woods. His seelers were folded over his head, down along the back of his neck, shuffled into his mane fur's thick softness... his H'rik Eye pulsed gently to his heartbeat, a flickering blue-white glow. He was not far from the trees, his body bathed in the morning light, ears twitching, his mane ruffling in the breeze...

... his Nute, belt, pouches... and pants... neatly folded on a nearby outcrop of rock, with his Boonwood staff laid on top.

Yes... his body moved, eyes closed... just fur and scales, exposed to the morning's air and light... nothing between him and nature. Nothing to restrict the wildness of his movements, nothing to block the sun's warmth... nothing to hide his maleness, not even his... additional, unique... 'Twill attributes. No wrappings on the animal. But, more importantly, his unfurled wings reflected the morning sun... thousands of tiny prism-scales on their inner membranes broke the sun's light into tiny rainbows... painting splashes of color across the ground, the rocks, the grass, the trees...

... yes, Roose practiced his mating dance, the one he intended to give to Chorri, when he returned home... though now, he practiced the more intent, focused parts... where each movement of limb, each twist of body and lash of tail, each heartfelt leap... expressed his deepest feelings for her.

With his folded-back seelers just as closed as his eyes, Roose's senses remained undisturbed... undistracted... from his focus... all of his remaining senses focused within his own body, feeling every breath... every heartbeat, every pull of muscle under fur, and every slide of a bone's joint in response... every touch of wind over his fur, as he moved... the rush of blood in his ears, and all through his body. What it felt like, to use his wings for their intended purpose... to flicker. Even his unique male attributes... took part in the dance, with Roose only half aware... both feelers extended, waving their part of the dance, in the open air, then retracting back inside... only to peek out a few moments later, to again add their yellow banded red to the moving rainbow colors....

He'd kept up this focused practice, nonstop, for the last... fifteen?... twenty?... minutes? He didn't care how long, with his senses so deeply involved within... it seemed he'd danced forever, so intent was his concentration. As always, he'd lost himself in the moment.

Each touch of foot to ground, each heavy but quiet breath, each and every movement... came smooth and steady... rapid or slow, depending on need... flowing naturally with the pounding of his heart, the rush of his blood...

... his body's... his very soul's immortal expression... of his unwavering love and dedication, to the one female of his choice... to Chorri... to beautiful, wonderful, bright-eyed Chorri....

To their future together....

Yes... an elephant could have farted right next to him, and he wouldn't have noticed....
Tracy passed through the bushes underneath the trees and encountered a most peculier life form. It breathed, obviously, because her sense of the electrical was alerted, and it appeared to be deeply engaged in a ceremonial dance of sorts. She was intrigued; like any other of her species she loved dancing.

She stood there silently, watching him with eyes of blue blue blue, and twisting a strand of her golden hair around her fingers. The gold patches on her back gleamed like the spun metal, and her horn shimmered in it's field of magic. The area around her, within her aura, was becoming like a lush forest jungle, plants and flowers sprouting like beautiful mushrooms, in an instant.

As the creature came to a pausing point in his dance, she bent forward with a smile on her lips.

"Hello," she said in a voice that was soft and sweet, yet as rich and detailed as the most complicated song.
.... However, an elephant fart was not what Roose heard... oh no!... the voice that spoke one simple word... "Hello"... held a complexity he'd never heard in any speaking voice before, but... this voice was unmistakably... FEMALE....

Roose's eyes snapped open in shock, as he snapped his wings tightly shut... for an instant, absolutely mortified... frozen stiff, in the middle of a dance step transition, only his fine sense of balance keeping him from falling on his tail... his open eyes staring at the vision... of... of...

... he saw the plants grow from the ground around her... even with just his eyes, he could see the power flowing from her Spirit. He realized... yes, it would be wise to keep his seelers folded... her patterns would most likely be blinding....

In another instant, he realized his feelers were almost fully extended, rubbing against the oil glands on the inside of his thighs... he hissed, grabbed his muzzle with both hands, and suffered an intense quandry... if he turned, to conceal his retraction, he would expose his wings, but if he didn't, he'd... he'd...

... oh, bother!... Roose shook his head, slowly relaxed, and released a great, deep sigh... it was not like she hadn't already seen pretty much everything a male 'Twill had to show a female. In other words, it was way too late to matter... and this female creature was definitely NOT a 'Twill. And yes, with a blink, Roose further realized this female wore nothing, as well... even given her humanoid... female... ahh... attributes.

Still, he cringed a little, as he tried to casually retract his feelers... back into their interior pouches, and out of sight... just under, and on each side, of his normally exposed maleness... not for the first time, blessing good fortune... that 'Twill males had nothing that dangled in the breeze. Yea, everything neat and tidy, and... mostly tucked away....

Roose shook his whole body down, still carefull to keep his inner wing membranes hidden against his back, as his fur fluffed... then, to cover his discomfiture, he dropped to all fours, stretched, and waved his tail tuft overhead in a greeting, his eyes meeting hers....

With a grin of embarrassment, Roose returned...

... "Hi... ahhh, hurr... if you don't mind my asking... hmmm... did you see enough... well..." Roose cleared his throat... "enough to provide me with your opinion... your critique... of my performance?...."

Roose had no idea how long she'd been watching him....

------------------------------------------------------------
(ooc) Silver... exactly how many feet and inches is eleven hands? Roose stands 5 feet, 10 inches... also, how tall would that make Tracy, to the top of her head? In other words, will Roose have to look up to her...? (ooc)
OOC: A "hand" is four inches. That's weird. I thought a hand was six inches. To make her proportional, I think I'll have to make an adjustment, do you mind? She should be about five feet at the forequarters, her upper body stretching another four feet above. I think that's proportional. I can't picture it very well right now. But she's certainly daintier than the much larger males. Give me time to edit. But yes, you probably will be looking up at her.

IC: Tracy leaned her weight back on her hind legs, flicking her long silk tufted tail in a similar greeting. She smiled, showing even white teeth and a brilliant surge of her aura.

"It was a magnificent performance," she stated simply. "You dance very well, with good balance and precision." She shook her head, a vaguely horselike gesture, her waves of golden hair spilling like liquidized gold around her torso, sometimes covering and sometimes revealing her appealing female attributes.
Again, her voice... a sound like nature talking, in song. Roose felt... humbled, by that music. This bit of awe, as he watched her, was not something unfamiliar. He'd seen and experienced many things that had made his heart rise to his throat... made his pulse soar. One did not travel the universe lightly, without a firm belief in the powers of Creation. Roose felt a bit of that, here and now....

Still, his own life felt no less awe inspiring, no less of worth... in her presence. After all, he was as much a part of Creation as her... just as alive, just as important, in the grand scheme of things. Every life had a place and purpose.

Roose would never forget that Truth....

Bent low in his stretch, butt in the air, Roose made a Decision... and couldn't help feeling the glow of pride at her praise. Yes, he'd worked hard to build his physical skills, in preparation for his maturity... and, though he still felt distressed at having his open wings... his display... seen by an unrelated female... the feeling rapidly faded, as time continued to pass, second by second...

... "Thank you..." he returned, his embarrassed grin turned to one of gratitude... "I think Chorri will be pleased."

Roose hopped forward on all fours, and plucked one of the flowers growing at this female unitaur's feet, as he stood fully upright... lifting the flower up, his H'rik Eye brightly lit... at the end of his gracefull standing motion, muzzle turned to sky, his feet left the ground... and he floated rapidly upward... hovered... eye to eye with her... and slipped the flower into her hair, behind her left ear, his gratitude visible in his expression... even though his grin had turned serious...

... "Again, thank you... I've been away from Home for a long time, it seems too long... meeting others helps the lonliness... the being apart from loved ones...."

Roose nodded, arms folded against his chest, then he dropped lightly to the ground, the light of his Eye fading to a soft glow...

... and, with his feet now back on solid ground, he bowed... with a flourish, a step, a whip of his tail, and these formal words...

... "My parents named me Roose...."

------------------------------------------------------------
(ooc) Actually, I think six inches is right... four inches being the non-equine measure for a "hand". Eleven hands, at six inches, is 5.5 feet... at four, 3.66... so, it's up to you. I wrote my above post on the assumtion of a nine foot hight, based on your "five feet at the shoulder, four above that" paraphrase of measure.... (ooc)
Tracy smiled in pleasure as Roose placed the flower behind her ear. She stepped forward, bent a foreleg and dipped in a graceful bow, her hair falling about her, and she straightned, her blue eyes alight.

"My name is Tracy. I am new to this forest." She looked up at the trees. "It needs help, in places."

She looked back at Roose. "Your wings are beautiful," she said in simple compliment. "Be assured. Your loved ones love you, even if you are far away from them." She touched the top of his head, bending forward and rubbing her hand in the direction the fur grew, smooting it back, like brushing someones hair back to tell them everything would be all right.

"You will never be forgotten."
Roose closed his eyes in pleasure, as Tracy rubbed her hand over his mane. With his seelers folded back, out of sight, she most likely hadn't realized they were there... or realized how sensative they were to touch, how... yes, how...

... good it felt, to have his seelers stroked that way.

Roose felt his tensions ease... if he hadn't looked towards the forest, when she did, maybe... maybe he could have prepared himself... maybe he should have taken her comforting words... her praise of his wings... as a warning. But, her words... "Your will never be forgotten..." lingered in his mind. He knew the truth of her words... he never doubted the love of his family... and of Chorri... only missed the daily exposure to that love, a contact and commitment all 'Twill held most dear. He felt the hole in his Spirit... missed having someone warm curled up in it...

... but, Tracy's words... her unknowing touch... something in the very essense of her Spirit... gave Roose comfort, a peace in his heart....

And made him wish he had his pants on, right now....

Roose reached up, gently lifted her hand away from a very sensitive area, where the base of his central seeler met his skull... just above his forehead... and smiled up at her, his eyes slowly opened to the world again... their emerald green a shade brighter, his Eye... above and between the emerald brightness... flickering, like a blue-white candle-flame...

... "Thank you, Tracy... as one of the few who have seen my wings exposed to the daylight, your admiration is of great value to me... and so is your comfort. I will never forget your encouragement, nor you own beauty... inside and out...."

Yes... though she was not 'Twill, she didn't need to be... Roose had seen much beauty in the Universe, from the hearts of stars, to the varied sunset vistas of alien horizons... to the many forms Life took, wherever it was found....
Roose glanced at the place where he had left his staff and clothes... reoriented his stance... aimed the toes of one foot towards the stone, raised his right hand... and flared his Eye bright....

His staff arced through the air, fell into his grasp...

... "Only a few days..." he answered, raising his staff towards the stone, and flaring his Eye again....

This time, a ripple of distorted air rushed from his foot to the stone, and a swirl of wind twisted around his body... ruffled his fur. And encompassed the stone. Like his staff, this wind... this flow of energy... shot upward...

... followed by his Nute, flung open in the air by the twisting currents... caught on the end of his staff, and brought to hand.

Roose fixed his staff to ground, then slipped this traditional vested shirt over his back... with a ritual flourish, as his arms settled in the sleaves. His wings now covered, he breathed a little easier, in his present female company...

... "I've set up camp very near the river...."

Roose paced over to the stone, and recovered his pants. It only took him a moment to slide into them... to refasten the open seals and zips... around legs, tail and private parts... making sure everything was secure and comfortable. Then, the final touch... his belt and pouches, latched around his waist and settled on his hips....

Ahhh, yesss... though there was a time and place for naked freedom, he still felt better with everything in place. Besides, the style, patterns, cut and color of his clothing looked good against his fur and scales, complimented his physique... without needing to be skin-tight. Roose bowed again to Tracy... walked up and recovered his staff, breaking its upright contact with the earth. Staff in hand, he took a deep breath... took in the scents, relaxed in the early morning sunshine... turned his eyes out towards the Wastelands, then in to the Forest... then returned his attention fully to Tracy, a half-smile lighting his face...

... "Would you walk with me?" he asked, gesturing with his staff, indicating a 'path' leading along the edge of the woods....
"Of course," she said. "I would be happy to."
Her delicate golden hooves glimmered as she turned down the path his pointing hand indicated.
Even as Tracy wondered at the constrictions of clothing, Roose... his youthful awkwardness covered and, yes, dismissed from his mind... wondered just who she was, that Life grew in her very presense. She'd touched his head, stroked his seelers, and he'd felt the power... even with his seelers closed. Yes, even now, he felt unusually relaxed, despite his earlier mortification at having a... hmmm... strange female... view his wings... unfurled, and flickering in the morning's warm sunshine. Normally, he'd still be nervous, with her so nearby, following beside his footsteps...

... but, she was not 'Twill. And, yes, that did make a difference... he'd thought coming to the edge of the woods would give him some privacy, where he could practice his mating Dance... undisturbed. In Deep Forest, he'd found most, if not all its inhabitants, lived and played deeper within... tending to avoid the Wastes, out here. Though some, like his friend Red, spent a part of their time watching the edge for visitors.

Roose didn't watch for visitors, no... but, even in his few days here, he'd met a few... Tracy, of course, being the most recent... without trying. He looked towards her, ruffled his mane and twitched his ears, then gave her a quiet smile before he spoke, his pace slow and steady... toeclaws barely tapping the ground, his staff making a gentle clack every time it touched a patch of stone...

... "Have you eaten yet, this morning?" His tone held an invitation, an offer to share... "It's a bit of a walk, but I know where we can find a blackberry patch... and a few apple trees...."
Standing close by, just through the trees, were a centaur and a smallish furred creature, something she wasn't sure of. They were walking together along a path, past where the gryphoness stood.
Tracy had sensed the gryphon before it spoke aloud, feeling the presence of it's soul with her magic.
She turned and looked at the gryphon. "Hello," she said softly.

More Company...

Post by Roose Hurro »

Roose turned towards the voice, a bit surprised by what he saw, just through the trees... and very amused, when he realized he had another female for company... yes, he'd had enough... difficulty... with one female seeing him exposed, let alone the idea of so nearly being seen by two. Considering he'd only redressed less than a minute ago, he felt lucky... at the same time, he felt amused by his own past embarrassment, under the present circumstances. That, and he'd always found contrasts to be humorous... this female was clothed quite thoroughly, completely opposite from the totally naked unitaur at his side. By comparison, his own clothing barely covered his visible maleness... if not for a brief whiff of scent, Roose would not have been sure this odd gryphoness was female, since he still had his seelers closed....

Anyway, the hurr of amusement in his voice certainly couldn't hurt... given this gryphoness looked a bit nervous, when her eyes fell on him...

... "Since a 'hello' has been given already, I give you the greeting 'welcome'... and the promise I won't bite."

Roose licked the end of his snout, and bowed gracefully in her direction, his eyes meeting her's....
