Joining: Jiova

Post by Jadan Awk »

Looking up at the moonlit sky, Jiova wondered if he had finally found his way. His Gaia must have lived here, it was most likely. At first he thought he'd missed the village, but looking up he smiled. Row after row of house, built in the trees. He noticed a shop on the ground floor, and what seemed like, in the distance, some building work going on.<br>
<br>
He ignored these, and Jiova walked among the elven ground feeling a memory of his own home. An old memory that counted as his single positive one. Looking up at the treehouses reminded him of when he had stayed with his grand father, in his tree observatory. Although the memory was quickly filled with the horrors of the rest of Jiova's childhood. He smiled feeling that this place had a goodness about it. Even if there seemed to have been some recent problems. A scent of death was in the air, but it was not quit fresh.<br>
<br>
Shrugging off this feeling, Jiova jumped up one of the trees, landing nearby an old, slightly wrecked house. It was no longer in operation, but he could smell his wife, actually, he realised it was the scent of all Gaiyans, so was more likely his great-granddaughters scent. He looked for signs of what had happened. It looked like it had come into disarray, and although it looked carefully fixed, everything seemed like there had been a point, somewhat recently, were almost everything had been broken.<br>
<br>
He left the building, and sat down, the sky now filled with water, and his face was lightly covered in refreshing rain.

Blackback walked by, carrying the last of the shipments of rocks for his construction project down by the river. He led his draft horse Ruff and behind the horse was a long wooden stretcher with even more boulders. <br>
<br>
As he passed it out on the wagon tracks, Blackback saw that there was someone sitting by Gaia's old apothecary. He squinted. It was hard to make the man out in the drizzling rain. <br>
<br>
<!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"Hi there!"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> he called out. <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"It's a nasty wet day to daydream, pal. You lookin' for someone?"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

Jiova heard a voice, and looked up. Concern was on his face. "Hello. I am looking for a woman, green hair and skin, goes by the name of Gaia."<br>
<br>
Jiova looked at the troll, a mountain troll if Jiova knew them well, and a merchant by the look of him. He had seen a shop nearby, maybe this was the owner. If it was he hopefully did know about the occupants.

Blackback looked back up at the newcomer. A new face. <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"You're searching for the herbalist? Gaia? What do you want with her?"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> he asked back.

Jiova looked at the troll, "She's-" he held back. How did he know if this Gaia was truly his Gaia, or a relative. He couldn't. "She a friend, I believe. I was told she is the last of her kind, and that she lives here."<br>
<br>
He looked back towards the house, and suddenly a fear came. What if they were all gone? He couldn't stand it to know that. He wondered about his other children. He knew the son's would be identicle to him, maybe they were still alive.

Blackback sighed and looked up at Gaia's abandoned shop. "She has left. Or maybe she fell in the war, I'm not sure. If she left she never said goodbye. You're sitting outside her shop there, or what's left of it. Her plants and wines and stuff is blocking up the place more and more these days. "

At the words of a war, Jiova's ears picked up, he looked enquiringly at the troll. "Tell me troll, what has happened here, what has my- what has young Gaia done?" He turned to look at her home, it did have an ethereal essence about it. He could imagine it once a nice little Herbologists, that was his Wifes old profession. Or possibly a sage's home, that was what his daughter had wanted to become.

He stood up, imagining what life could be like if they were gone. What had acquired their power? Jiova felt cold, even though temperature rarely affected him nowadays.

"Were there any other, occupants?"

The troll scratched its head. "You must be new in these parts if you haven't heard of the war. Nasty business that involved a lot of death and sickness along the way. And mud. A lot of mud. My fur still reeks of the swamps now and then. Dark times that was."

Blackback looked over to the old herbalist shop. "Gaia had a way with plants and greens. They liked her I suppose, listened to her when she told them to do stuff for her. This was a healer's shop. I had some nice business agreements with her..." The troll nodded to himself. " Anyway, she was pregnant when she came, and she had two children in there. Twins. I was there when they came even. Little Thomas and little Gaia. Nice-looking kids -- if you like them without tusks, that is. Don't know what happened to them either unfortunately. Guess Gaia took'em with her when she left."
