Re: Tortured Dreams (open to all)
Kazuki continued to look the wyrm in the eyes the best he could as the creature stood on his hind legs. The mage had to admit, the size of the being was rather impressive. There were few creatures in the world that could match Slayer’s height. Had he not been confident in his abilities, he might have been frightened by just how much the wyrm dwarfed him. The spirit’s leg muscles tensed as he prepared to move from his position. He wouldn’t have been surprised if Slayer had decided to try to step on him; that was certainly the first thing that popped into his mind when he watched the being rear back like that. Like such a simple attack could defeat me, he thought with a snort.

It wasn’t until his senses started to pick up the pulsing energy of the barrier increasing that he realized what Slayer was doing. Kazuki cursed and tried to jump out of the shield while it was still breakable, but was too late. His hand ran into something solid and before he could start to hack away at it with his magic, he was suddenly picked up. “H-hey, put me down you overgrown snake!” he yelled in outrage. “Put me down right now or—” His threat was cut off as the wyrm suddenly tossed the orb he was in into the air like he was the creature’s toy. Kazuki fell onto his back as the barrier flew up, then began to hover in the air inside it as it started to move down. “Oh shit…” the spirit cursed right before Slayer caught the orb. The impact knocked him off his feet and caused him to hit the bottom of his little cage hard on his back.

Ok ouch, not cool, the mage thought as his eyes blazed with fury. Nobody did this to Kazuki the mage! He had been considering for a moment giving the being a quick death, but not anymore! No, he was going to enjoy the kill by tearing Slayer limb from limb until the creature begged him for death. “Why you sonuvof—” Again, his comment was cut off as the wyrm suddenly placed him in the branches of one of the towering trees. Kazuki knew that the orb was very precariously balanced; he could feel it. “Oh did I not introduce myself? Do forgive my horrible manners,” he said, acting as cocky as ever though his anger was aflame inside him. The mage raised a hand slowly of his head and pointed his finger at the very center of the orb above his head. If movements to the sides would cause him to fall, then he would just have to attack the barrier from below. A blast of fire hot enough to melt metal in seconds shot out from the tip of his finger and hit the barrier. The shield may be strong, but it couldn’t hold against that for long. “I’m Kazuki,” the spirit replied with a smirk as he felt his magic burning a hole through his cage.

Re: Tortured Dreams (open to all)
Void turned flat, quick silver eyes to the wyrm, analyzing with it's computer like 'brain'. When the creature spoke, Void took down it's speech mannerisms, and the fact that it's name was 'Slayer', just as the name of the one high in the tree was 'Kazuki'.

"I am Void," the Ethereal Quicksilver said in a voice flat and emotionless.

Re: Tortured Dreams (open to all)
Kazuki cursed as electricity shot around him and strengthened the shield, destroying his efforts to break it. However, that didn’t stop him from trying. The mage was not going to stay in this stupid trap like some stupid weak creature. It was undignified and humiliating and he was not going to let it continue. Just wait until he got his hands on that wyrm for putting him in this; the creature would wish he had never helped the screaming little boy he had come upon just minutes later. His death would be anything but quick and painless. Oh no. He did horrible things to his victims when he was in good moods, nobody wanted to be around him when he was in a bad mood.

Kazuki please…don’t hurt him. He was only trying to help me, Nataku pleaded, despite his memories telling him it was no use begging; it might even make the situation worse for Slayer. The elf just couldn’t help but try. Though the thought of the creature telling others that he was possessed scared him, the wyrm had only been trying to help him. He didn’t deserve to be punished for it. “Shut up you damn pest, I’m working here!” Kazuki growled as he continued to fire against the shield in an attempt to break it.

The elf looked through the spirit’s eyes up at Slayer. What if the creature knew someone who could get Kazuki out of his mind and body? Would they be able to give him back his life? The thought was so great…it couldn’t possibly be true. Kazuki was too strong; nobody would be able to get him out. But if they could? It was worth it to try. As the mage ignored Slayer’s words and concentrated fully on the barrier, Nataku did something he hadn’t tried for a very long time. He pulled up all the mental strength he had and pushed.

“What—” was all Kazuki managed to get out before a blizzard swirled around him. Like before with the flames, when the snow disappeared, Nataku sat where the mage had been. Wide, innocent eyes stared around him in complete shock. He had done it… What the hell did you just do?! the spirit ‘shouted’, causing the young elf to wince in actual pain. “I…pushed you back,” the boy said quietly in return. Had he been able to do that the whole time, or was it simply because Kazuki had pushed him back before it was his time and had been distracted when he attacked that it had worked?

"I am Void,"

The voice caused the elf to look around again and he quickly realized just how high up he was. He visibly paled and gulped. Nataku had never liked heights and being in a large ball that felt like it was rocking dangerously whenever he breathed, wasn’t helping. He quickly closed his eyes before he could get sick and waited to see what Slayer and the new creature planned on doing with him.

Re: Tortured Dreams (open to all)
Nataku tried to brace himself as Slayer picked up the orb, but with nothing to grab onto, he couldn’t stop himself from overbalancing a bit and rolling to the side. The elf pushed himself back onto his back before he laid a hand on the shield beside him. After a moment, ice spread from his fingertips across it before suddenly shooting to the opposite side to form a bar crossing the middle of the orb for him to hold onto. Like with Kazuki, Nataku didn’t even notice the cold as he grabbed onto it and stood up. Why was he still in there? Why wasn’t Slayer letting him out? He wasn’t a threat any longer, not while Kazuki was inside and not out, so why was he still trapped? Had he just saved the wyrm only to have the creature do something to him? The thought caused a thin layer of sweat to form on his brow. Was he going to hurt him for what the mage had done?

"You put him in his place, didn't you? Now maybe you should work on keeping him there."

The elf winced as Kazuki loudly, and painfully, protested in his head, but still managed a weak smile. Unless Nataku was mistaken, he didn’t hear any hostility in Slayer’s voice; it actually sounded like the creature was proud of him. You have not won Nataku! Another couple of hours and I will be in control again and you will wish you’d never defied me. For your sake, I hope you don’t decide to sleep during that time, Kazuki growled, causing his host to pale visible. Nataku knew what awaited him if he fell asleep and knew what would happen to other creatures once the mage gained control once more. He wasn’t sure which thought made him shudder more.

“I…guess I did,” Nataku responded with a small, slightly forced smile as he tried to pretend Kazuki wasn’t saying anything. Truth be told, he was rather proud of himself as well; he had never been able to push the mage back like that before, not when the spirit was so intent on remaining in control. “I don’t know if I can keep him back.” The boy bit his lip as he admitted it, knowing he had probably just made the wyrm want to release him even less. “Uh…Slayer. Can-can you let me out now?” he asked hesitantly.

Re: Tortured Dreams (open to all)
Void recorded the interaction of the two, before speaking.

"What is your species?" he asked in a strangely blank voice.

Re: Tortured Dreams (open to all)
Nataku let out a breath he hadn’t even been aware that he was holding when Slayer removed the shield that he was trapped in. The creature had obviously been planning on doing something with their body while Kazuki was in control, and had been using the orb to keep him in control. The elf had been worried that whatever that plan was, was then going to be turned on him. He wasn’t sure whether he wanted the wyrm to take him to someone who might to try to find a way to get the mage out of him. That was something he hadn’t really thought about. Though he would give almost anything to get the spirit out of his body, he did not like the thought of being someone’s test subject until they figured out something to do to help him. He didn’t like attention at all and certainly didn’t like people poking at him or…doing whatever one might do while trying to figure something out.

You don’t want them testing on you, believe me. It wont be fun at all, Kazuki said, his tone showing the smirk Nataku couldn’t see. It seemed the spirit was back to acting how he normally did. The boy wondered if it was to somehow regain the pride he had lost by being pushed back. He made sure to keep that thought hidden in the back of his mind lest Kazuki read it. Either it had worked or the spirit simply hadn’t been paying attention, for he didn’t mention it and Nataku knew he would have had he heard. Probably would have said something about him letting the elf take over their body. Believe me, I have heard what happens in labs and I’ve seen a bit of it myself. If the test subject survives the things they are put through, they aren’t really whole- in mind and/or body- when they come out. Kazuki added. He did not want the boy to get any ideas on getting someone to test him to try to figure out a way to kick him out of the boy’s body.

Nataku couldn’t help but swallow. Though he knew Kazuki was probably lying about that…he couldn’t help but wonder if a part of that might be true. The mage did know a lot more about the world than he did and Nataku had never seen what creatures did in labs or what they did to their test subjects. What if it hurt? What if he didn’t come out ‘whole’ as his other half said? The thought didn’t help settle his nerves at all. But, even if it did, would it be worth it? He would be rid of the spirit forever if they managed to help him. That was so tempting it might be worth it to be poked at. But he didn’t even know if that was going to happen to him or not. When, if, it happened, then he would think about it; Nataku only hoped he would be given an option.
“Keep it caged. Keep it imprisoned. Control him, and not him you."

“I’ll…try,” Nataku said quietly, not knowing what else to say. He had been trying for a long time and had never done it before, but maybe Slayer was right, perhaps practice would help and he might be able to push Kazuki back more often. Feh. Don’t get your hopes up squirt. If I have any say in it, that will never happen again. I simply had my guard down. There will not be a next time. The elf sighed. He had expected an answer like that. Nataku wanted to tell Slayer that Kazuki was too strong and that he might not be able to, but stopped, knowing it wouldn’t help anything.

"What is your species?"
Nataku couldn’t help but look at Void strangely for a moment. The creature sounded so…soulless, like he couldn’t, or wouldn’t, feel emotions. His tone was lacking a tone. He could have gotten more feeling from reading the same question out of a book. How could someone sound so dull like that? It sent a small shiver down his spine to think that Void might be soulless or something like that. “Uh…I’m an elf sir,” he replied, though he couldn’t help but wonder if he could still consider himself an elf after what he had become. Was there a name for a creature that was possessed? Was there a separate species for things like him? “And you sir?”

Slayer looked at Void with the same strange ex-pression Nataki did.

"I'm a wyrm. Why?"

This creature was so strange. It sounded bland, like it couldn't possibly feel emotion, or didn't have any emotion. It reminded him of an abyssal creature he'd met once, a soulless beast that made the hair stand on end.

This one was just like it, only there was nothing threatening about it...yet.
