Entropy
Name:
Entropy
Species:
Felcaeri
The world-city of Felcaer - the Deadly Fortress - lies within the dark planes of the Demon Realm. The felcaeri are a race of demons who dwell here, locked in eternal war as each vies for supreme rule, hoping to claim the title of Overlord and subjugate everything set before them. Though often called succubi and incubi for their humanlike appearances, the felcaeri embody not lust, but the brutality of cold, calculated warfare. Strategic caution is all that keeps their society from collapsing into total chaos, but every felcaeri knows that all felcaeri are constantly scheming and plotting to advance themselves towards their ultimate imperative of total and absolute power. As their wars are not constrained to Felcaer alone, but often spill over into mortal worlds which they conquer and exploit in their singleminded quest for military strength, the felcaeri are known throughout the multiverse as fearsome and ruthless destroyers. Though this certainly makes it easy for felcaeri to find mercenary work wherever they go, they are always viewed universally with fear and suspicion.
Age:
Young adult in physical maturity, but untold thousands of years old
Gender:
Female
Appearance:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v431/ ... tropy4.png
(HeroMachine 3 image)
Entropy is human in appearance, with a thin and wiry build, but her skin is silver-colored and she has a pair of bat-like wings on her back as well as a pointed tail. Her hair is perfectly straight and she wears it parted evenly down the middle, falling to just below her shoulders, or else tied back into a ponytail. Her wings, tail, hair, lips, and claw-like nails are black in color, and her eyes green. She is five feet and seven inches tall.
Personality:
Power-hungry. Entropy's ultimate goal in life is nothing short of total conquest of the universe. She likes to call herself a genius and indeed seems to have a very strong command of magical theory and military strategy. Several times throughout the millenia she has risen to the position of Overlord in various netherworlds, but that can be a difficult position to hold for more than a few hundred years. Luckily for her, she usually knows when to disappear. However, she also has a decidedly un-demonic heroic side, generally unable to ignore someone in need, and extremely loyal to anyone she considers a friend.
Traits
As a demon, she is extremely strong and fast, with muscles that simply do not tire. Though the aerodynamics of her wings would not actually grant her flight, she is able to fly by more mystical means. The only actual function of her wings is as a shield, as they are extremely tough and can even stop small-caliber bullets. Her claws and her pointy tail can pierce most armor. And finally, she is very skilled in elemental magic and resistant to elemental damage, especially fire and extreme heat.
However, as a demon she is weak against holy power. Furthermore, though she is physically very strong, only her wings are very resistant to physical damage. If she has these completely wrapped around herself, she cannot move well or cast spells that require much movement. Furthermore, she is a sucker for luxury and incredibly fond of herself. Also, getting her tail pulled hurts a lot.
Family:
Unknown
Known History:
Overlord Entropy is uncertain how long she has been around. Her memory shows only a seemingly endless cycle of war, triumph and ascention, defeat and destruction, continuing on into the mists of time long past. Countless times she has risen to command armies, taken kingdoms under her dominion, and conquered world-spanning empires, holding them until they fell to greater powers or collapsed from the inevitable growth of internal strife.
Entropy most recently rose to power 86 years ago, wresting control of Felcaer's southeast peninsula and invading the interior districts from there. Though this set her empire off to a solid start, allowing her to expand to multiple worlds through Felcaer's numerous portals, it came to pass that the rogue angel Carina Xelindrae defied the Celestial Accord and led her host in a direct assault upon the Demon Realm. Entropy's forces were caught up in this war for several years and depleted beyond recovery by the time the angel was defeated. As her territories were captured and divided up by opportunistic rivals, Entropy escaped Felcaer and fled once again into the mortal realms.
How did your character find these lands?:
As Entropy crossed worlds far from her own, she learned of a newly-discovered land, yet unnamed, drawing enterprising and adventurous souls from far and wide. Out of curiousity and, perhaps, ambition, she traveled there, deeming that she had run far enough. Here she might stake out a claim and live a new life, at least for a time. Perhaps she would venture to do more...
First RP in these lands:
Eras and eons passed. Kingdoms and empires rose and fell. But always, Entropy lived on.
She hovered above the trees for a while, looking down at the forest below. So this was the "new land" she'd heard of. In the distant south, the famed mist billowed over everything, obscuring all within it. She might venture into there, or she might not. From what she knew, there were dangers within, but where there was risk there could be reward. On the other hand, one didn't live as long as Entropy had by taking blind risks.
But where she floated now was far from that place. The forest below her was peaceful. This seemed to be a land she could use, to build what she needed without being disturbed. Slowly, she lowered herself into a glade below the canopy, touching down next to the moss-covered trunk of a tree that had fallen beside a pond.
And her foot sank straight into the ground. Frowning, she tugged it back up, but the mud sucked her boot from her leg. Grumbling audibly now, she reached down and gripped the footwear in both hands and pulled it free. And tumbled back on her rump.
Entropy let out a frustrated sigh as she pulled herself up to her feet again.

Re: Entropy
"Such a graceful entrance... no doubt." his voice hissed forward from the above canopy. The forest below was indeed peaceful, quiet, just the way he liked it. The creature that fell was different then what he had been encountering recently, though she did not wear armor, much to his dismay, he was quite interested either way.
His form slowly slithered into existence, finding a long vine up above. The thick black and brown form curled and winded around, his now snake-like form above Entropy.
Eyes opened, small white holes appearing across his serpentine skull, a mouth cracking open as his head slowly hung from the adjacent branch with ease. Black ooze dribbled down into the mud below, not all that far from where she had plucked her boot from the ground,
"Having a little trouble are we?" he finally continued, a long oozing tongue flicking from his lips. Lemartus's body stretched up the vine at least seven feet, curling and winding up against the branch, his bright red symbol glowing at least half way down his long body, "Who might you be, dear traveler of mud?"

Re: Entropy
Entropy stood up rigidly straight as a voice hissed from above her.
Despite the startle, though, she collected herself quickly and looked up to view the speaker. The creature forming above her certainly wasn't like anything she had expected to meet in this place. Entropy wandered if this could really be what the native creatures of this forest were like...
The felcaeri was sensing a certain predatory feel from the creature, and that put her on edge, but it hadn't jumped out and attacked her yet. It did, however, seem to be making fun of her, so Entropy decided to be indignant.
"I'm not a traveler of mud," she asserted. "I'm a succubus, and I'm made out of... of... demon stuff."
That should set that issue straight. Conjuring up a small jet of water from her hands, she began spraying down the muddy boot.
"My name's Entropy," she answered offhandedly in the meantime.

Her answer was amusing to say the least.
He remained where he was, thick droplets of black liquid dribbling down into the water below. His symbol let off a single looming flash before his head slowly lingered down further, as if to get a closer look. His endless eyes narrowed, watching as the 'Succubus' began to clean the mud off. Though their were similar traits of her that reminded him of the creatures from where he had come from, there was something certainly more alive about her that he could sense.
His head turned, the thick of his serpentine body lingering up in the branches of the low hanging tree,
"Entropy?" he questioned once, words bubbling, "Such an interesting name..." the snake tilted his head back, the edge of his neck bending lightly to look across her form, trying to get a sense of the attire she wore, "And what has brought you here may I ask?"

Re: Entropy
(OOC: Time does slip away...)
Entropy's attire at the moment consisted of a loose tunic belted at the waist, a second layer of cloth draped over her shoulders and upper arms, a set of trousers, and a pair of the previously-mentioned leather boots. All told, it would have looked like a somewhat fancy traveler's outfit, but the layers of cloth were all dyed various shades of purple.
As for what brought her here...
"Oh, you know how it goes," Entropy said casually. "You build yourself up a nice little kingdom, but it's all got to come crashing down eventually. Then you need to go away for a while and let things cool off."
She followed this lackadaisical statement with a shrug.
"Kind of a shame with this last one, though," Entropy mused. "I was really just getting started with it, and it had some promise too. But you just can't always account for every possible outside force. Oh well..."

Re: Entropy
The forest was a big place, and it was sparsely populated. When Orb's Friend Mode was in a restless enough mood to want to run around aimlessly at supernaturally fast speeds to burn off some excess energy, she typically didn't pay too much attention to where she was going. Enough to avoid colliding with trees, of course, but those were big and hard not to spot no matter how little attention she was paying.
On this particular day, it was only when she fully entered a clearing containing a small pond that the foliage thinned enough to reveal that Orb was careening at top speed right towards an unsuspecting, silver-skinned, winged grown-up.
With no time to come up with a better plan, Orb simply leaned backwards and planted herself boots-first into the ground next to the pond in an inelegant slide. This stopped her a couple of meters in front of the grown-up, which she could now clearly identify as female, but the edge of the pond was quite muddy, and, aside from covering the lower backside of her own dress and her hands with mud when she involuntarily plopped down into a makeshift sitting position, the Companion ended up splattering the winged woman with the spray kicked up from her boots. It was better than colliding with her, sure, but it was still not a good way to make friends.
"Oops." Orb reached up and adjusted her crooked hat, the act finger-painting four fresh, brown half-handprints onto the brim's black edge. "Sorry about that, ma'am. I didn't see you until…I…saw…you…Hm. That made more sense in my head…" It was only then that she noticed that the woman was using a stream of water produced directly from her hand to clean off one of her boots. "Oh, awesome! You're a magic user! So am I! I mean, kind of. That's how I was running so fast! My name's Orb. Nice to meet you! Wanna play? I'm pretty good at tag, what with the speed and all, but I can do all sorts of other things, too!"
As she spoke, the Companion began to stretch her arms upward, elongating them in an attempt to grab a branch somewhat above her to pull herself out of the muck, until the distracted Orb suddenly noticed that her preferred branch was wrapped in a dark, slimy, dripping occupant already. "Ack! What's this?! Is this your familiar, magic lady? He's scary…but kind of cool, actually. Hey, my hands are up here anyway, can I pet him? Does he bite? What's his name? Mr. Goo? If I had one of these, I would name him Mr. Goo. If it was a boy, of course. Say, can you make one of these for me, Miss Magic Lady?! I would take good care of it, I promise! How much do they eat? What do they eat? Mr. Goo looks like he eats bugs. Would you like some bugs, Mr. Goo?"

Re: Entropy
(OOC: Well, I'm going to need to get this thing moving.)
As Entropy continued cleaning her boot, something darted out of the woods towards her at an incredible speed. Entropy immediately straightened and made to spin off to the side, but the approaching... creature... skidded to a halt at the last second. For a brief moment, Entropy stared studiously at the orb construct. Then the latter fell onto her rump and splashed more mud onto the succubus.
"Absolutely," Entropy noted at this final development.
The orb being then uttered a moderately lengthy string of words, somewhere in the middle of which she revealed her name as, appropriately, Orb. It wasn't until Orb asked Mr. Goo if he would like some bugs, however, that Entropy found a chance to respond.
"He's not my familiar," she answered. "I don't really do familiars, actually. Too easy to get them killed. And then, you know..."
Entropy made an odd gesture with her hands that probably signified an explosion.
"Blam!" she exclaimed. "There goes a whole big chunk of your life force, just like that! Bad deal, if you ask me."
At that point, the succubus remembered the mud that now adorned her fancy clothes and began conjuring more water to rinse it off.
"My name's Entropy, by the way," she added. "And I like Tag, but I'm kind of... wet, right now."

Re: Entropy
Orb giggled in delight upon seeing even more of Entropy's magic in action. "It's okay if Mr. Goo isn't your familiar, Miss Entropy. That means I can make him my own pet!" The Companion suddenly reconsidered the look that the black, dripping creature was then giving her and her closely-hovering hands. "Uh…maybe not."
The marble-girl quickly un-extended her arms to regain a more humanoid shape, then took a long moment to inelegantly stand up out of the mud, getting more of the stuff on her person and her clothes as she did so. Once she was fully upright, the mud-caked Orb looked at Entropy and spoke again. "That sure is a lot of water, Miss Entropy! You seem pretty powerful. What kind of things do you like to do? With all that magical power, you probably have some really cool hobbies, like terraforming or decoupage! Do you eat planets? I have a friend named Lyrial, and she eats planets! Or at least she could if she wasn't…well, I don't really understand what happened to her. I guess it's sort of like when your parents ground you, but…with gods? Anyway, she was sent here as punishment. Were you sent here as punishment, too, Miss Entropy? Or maybe you're escaping something, like me! I had to escape here because I accidentally became sentient and the grown-ups in my civilization wanted to erase my consciousness. But that's okay, because this place has been really neat! It's got dangerous cliffs, a water volcano, a beach, a bunch of mists that lead to other dimensions, and a coffee shop!" A pause. "I like your tail."

Re: Entropy
Entropy's tail swished at the final compliment, though her mind was busy trying to patch together another set of replies to Orb's onslaught.
"Well, I can't stand decoupage, but I guess terraforming's alright," she began. "But I'd have to say my favorite hobby is taking over the universe. I mean, I suppose it's more of a job than a hobby, but I enjoy it enough that it doesn't really feel like work. I don't really eat planets though. They're too... dirty."
And... what else.
"Oh, and like I was telling Mr. Goo, I'm laying low out here because things got a little too feisty back home," she went on. "Taking over the universe is a lot like Poker, you see. You've got to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em. Look out!"
With the final utterance, Entropy shot up into the air, straight into the path of an oncoming fireball. Wreathing her own body in, she flew straight into the projectile and detonated it in mid-air. The force of the blast hurled her back to the ground where she landed in a sort of braced crouching position and slid backwards a yard or two, looking a bit disheveled now but otherwise none the worse for wear.
"Scatter!" the succubus yelled with sudden authority.
No sooner had she, a brown-scaled winged saurian creature descended rapidly through the forest canopy, making straight for her with claws and teeth bared. Though small for a dragon, it was easily twice her length from head to tail. When she had a moment to spare for the thought, Entropy would classify the creature as a drake. But for now, all she could do was dodge backwards as each of the creature's fierce strikes lashed at her. Entropy moved with impossible agility, but she was trapped on the defensive, being driven constantly backwards...
And then a second drake descended from above and came rushing at her from the side.

Re: Entropy
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
In response to the exploding fireball, Orb had grabbed her muddy, wide-brimmed hat and crouched low underneath it. As soon as the conflagration cleared, however, the dragon-kin that had apparently loosed the fireball in the first place swooped down from the canopy and began attacking the Companion's new friend, giving the marble-girl little reason to lower either her guard or her level of fearfulness.
Orb peered out from underneath her hat at the violence in front of her, and was on the verge of obeying the previously-given "scatter" order, when the second dragon-thing appeared and began to close in on Entropy.
OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHWHATAMIGOINGTODOWHATAMIGOINGTODOWHATAMIGOINGTODOWHATAMIGOINGTODO????!!!! I can't handle this situation! I'm just a little kid! A thought suddenly dawned on Orb. Wait. Why am I still a little kid?!
Orb twisted both of her arms backwards into her rucksack and grew in size as quickly as she could manage, yelling at the second attacker as she did so to get its attention. "Hey, butthead! You picked the wrong forest!"
The newly adult-sized Orb thrust both of her hands forward. Multi-colored energy beams shot forth from her Caregiver Mode's palms, completely frying various spots on the second beast's body. The injuries didn't kill the thing, but they certainly hurt it. And convinced it to attain a new target.
The dragon-kin made an aerial charge at Orb. The Companion responded by raising an invisible field of force and energy around herself. The dragon-thing struck the transparent dome with a great deal of speed and power, but the shield easily held. Orb's attacker then began to desperately and single-mindedly claw at the barrier.
Orb was safe, and she had prevented Entropy from being caught by surprise from behind, but she wasn't close enough to her new friend to extend the protective barrier around her as well. The Companion fearfully looked out from between the futile attacks of the dragon-kin, in the direction of Entropy, to see how (or even if) she was managing her own opponent.

Re: Entropy
Focused on avoiding the first drake's savage assault, Entropy didn't become aware of the second creature until it was almost on top of her. But just as the succubus was about to panic, a few beams of multi-colored light came from Orb's direction and struck the newcomer. The damage was enough to draw the drake's attention, and it flew off to exact its wrath against the marble construct, who seemed to have become larger since the last time Entropy had looked at her. Unfortunately, that meant Orb was on her own against the drake, since it was all Entropy could do to continue avoiding the strikes of her first attacker, but Orb at least managed to put up a barrier that seemed to hold the creature off for the time being.
For her own part, Entropy was still hard-pressed, and the distractions of the near-disaster and her own subsequent brief attempts to ascertain Orb's situation had earned her a few near-misses. Still, though she may not have looked it, she was an ancient acquaintance of combat, and had already been in no small number of scrapes easily as close as this one. She continued losing ground, but she was surviving, and steadily beginning to recognize the patterns and quirks in the drake's movements.
Eventually, she recognized a tell that the dragon-kin was about to lunge at her with a bite. When the attack came, Entropy bolted up into the air above its head, then flew over its length, channeling a powerful stream of lightning into its body as she went. This sent the creature into a fit of convulsions, but it still spun to face her again as soon as it regained some degree of control over its muscles. But despite the rage of a wounded animal now overtaking it, its muscles continued to spasm and slow it down. Not giving the drake a chance to attack again, Entropy flew around its side, faster than it could now turn to keep up with her, and sent a hail of icy shards into its legs and wings that embedded themselves and began to spread through the creature's body, freezing up its muscles. As Entropy reached the creature's rear, it lashed its tail at her, but she easily saw this coming and somersaulted over it, shooting more ice shards into that appendage until it was immobilized as well.
The drake tried to turn to face Entropy, but with half of its body chilled to the point of uselessness, it could barely move. Deciding that now was the opportunity for a decisive attack, she flew up into the air, flipped over and arced back down, then spun one more time just above the creature, slamming the side of her foot down with a kick to its head, sending out a loudly audible crack that reverberated throughout the surrounding trees.
At this, the drake immediately convulsed one last time, then slumped over into unconsciousness.
Just to be safe, Entropy performed a midair dance with an elaborate series of ritualistic movements, and a thick shell of rock emerged from the ground, covering the drake's entire body other than its head. This prison would break up on its own in a few hours, but Entropy had no plans to still be in the immediate area by that time.
With her own opponent dispatched, the succubus looked again to see how Orb was doing.

Re: Entropy
Orb watched Entropy with progressively decreasing amounts of fear. Seeing the silver-skinned woman handle herself in combat made it clear that she wasn't in quite as much danger as it initially appeared. But that still left the marble-woman with her own opponent to defeat.
Orb turned back to the dragon-like being that still thrashed against her shielding. She pointed her hands at the thing, waited until it made a particularly committed strike, and instantly dropped the shielding. The creature didn't have time to rear back for another attack before the Companion blasted it once again. The new injuries compounded themselves with the older injuries, and the dragon-kin responded to the critical mass of damage and pain by retreating.
As soon as it was completely out of sight, Orb lowered her hands and turned to Entropy. "I have never seen such creatures before, thus I do not know their habits. It is possible that more of them will shortly descend upon this area in force. We should make our escape while we have a chance. Do you have a preferred destination? If not, I know where a few combat-capable individuals might be found fairly close by, and I am certain that they would assist us if we were to be attacked again."

((ooc: Character accepted!))
There are so very many dramatic ways that vast, incomprehensible galactic phenomena can kill you, that every single day that you go unmurdered by space is a miracle.

Re: Entropy
(OOC: Thanks, forger.)
Entropy watched Orb drive the other drake off, then landed as the latter turned to speak to her again. With the danger past, the succubus was struck by how different Orb now seemed - not only larger, but she spoke in a more mature fashion than before. This was certainly curious, but there was a more immediate concern to address presently.
"I've only just landed here myself," she answered. "I've seen enough creatures... similar to those, but you never know about the different habits of local species. So... yeah, I'd rather go with safety in numbers. I need to get my bearings here before I decide where to strike out to anyway."
With that decided, she waited for Orb's lead.
