Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
Aw, that's a shame... Though I kinda like Clara (so far) and for the first time would have rooted for the Doctor to return the feeling for once. But, it's just awkward with River >.>
Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
I kind of think their dynamic would work. Isn't River due to go poof soon, anyway?

Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
I wonder if they'll really make her go poof, since technically, she can still show up years from now. Time travelers are hard to manage.
But yeah, the actress won't keep forever, so she'll have to go poof eventually... Was this ever confirmed somehow?

River went poof in her first episode
But regardless, the producers said they'll be phasing out River over the coming years now that the pond's story is finished.

Poor River, getting phased out.
Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
A shame. I'll miss her eccentric methods of contacting the doctor, and it was a nice change to have a character who wasn't ashamed of simply shooting the monsters.
Romantic interest between the doctor and a human companion never really felt right, and has been badly overused since his return.
Any opinions on the most recent episode?

Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
I kind if think a romantic thing between Clara and the Doctor would be ... refreshing? Rose was clingy. River *fantastic*, but it never felt like a totally mutual thing. They were basically star-crossed lovers that end in tragedy.
Clara and him actually seem to click. And really, it would be nice for the universe to hand him something nice for once, considering he'd been getting screwed over by losing his companions for years.

Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
I agree with Windra, Clara's personality, or at least her interest in the Doctor (so far) seems to be healthy, non-clingy. It would have been great to have River really be the partner that I thought she would become after the library episodes, but yeah, it did feel a bit one sided. I kinda feel bad for Ten, judging from his reaction he thought it would become a whole lot more as well.
SPOILERS: I loved Clara in the new episode, the way she reacted and handled things was great. The episode itself however...when I finished watching it with my mom, my first comment to her was "that was a weird episode". It was just...that planet was a god/parasite and then it was gone? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's really, really bad. And what the hell was wrong with the "audience"? Giant monster of mega doom wakes up, so let's stay calmly seated and enjoy the show?
I liked the songs though, the music in general ^_^ And the Doctor mentioned Susan! Oh how I wanted Clara to not get distracted and ask him about that!

Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
Well, the gravitational consequences alone of something that size simply vanishing would be little short of apocalyptic, espescially to anything living in its rings, but then again evidence suggests its gravitational field was still present...that planet was a god/parasite and then it was gone? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's really, really bad.
Got to agree there-the last quarter hour was very big let down of what was otherwise a good episode, partly because the 'Old God' was simply too all-powerful an adversary to be plausibly vanquished so fast and easily, and partly because the doctor himself, dissapointingly after the ruthless cunning with which he outmanouvred his adversaries in the previous episode, reverted to his old habit of charging in with the sonic screwdriver and no plan at all and hoping for the best. I really prefer the version of him that seems to know what he's doing underneath the outward craziness.

Exactly, they'd all get shot off into space, or should have.Keltres wrote:would be little short of apocalyptic, espescially to anything living in its rings
I love it when he seems to know something, yet tries to pass it off as nothing, or just trying to random or vague to cover it up. We know something is coming, the question is when and what it is. I really liked how Clara figured that out so quickly, or the Victorian Clara anyway, when she worked out that the umbrella he brought was for her convenience, not his own ^_^
Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
I missed the new one.
I FAIL.

Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
I missed the first half of the one aired today, I was watching BBC 2 instead, which was so much fun I lost track of time D: The second half seemed excellent though! I'll need to download the episode to see all of it though.
Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
It was a little different.
Clara finding out she was speaking in Russian = fun!

It's not necessary considering the topic title, but it would be nice to have a little warning of what you're about to announce since it's been less than 24 hours since it aired.
Loved the episode btw, though it had a few "huh?" moments.

Re: Doctor Who (new season spoilers)
Yes'm! Though, based on the reactions of my friends, for every one person who watched Who, there were 15 who watched My Little Pony.
Yes.
