Weird Dreams

Post by Windra »

Another old thread brought to life for boredom's sake!

This used to be a strange, wild subject to touch upon. Wacky nightmares and such. Everybody had such vivid imaginations. It was interesting to see what happened in one's mind ...

--

We'll shoot it off? I blamed this dream on the boi. Could have sworn he must have been playing one of the zombie assault missions in Saints Row the Third. Turns out he was actually fighting Draugr in Skyrim.

Same difference.

The world had gone post-apocalyptic: zombies, viruses, the whole nine yards. There weren't many human strongholds left. I was with boi and a bunch of others - some UV folks, I think. Somehow or another we'd gotten into a military complex. And it was totally overrun with the undead, so we had to get the hell out of Dodge.

In order to do that, one of us had to go into the basement level and jack one of the military convoy vehicles. Guess who was nominated to do the job?

... Exiting the elevator with baseball bat in hand, all was quiet. At first I thought that maybe none of the infected had gotten down to the lower levels of the complex. The sudden moaning from behind me negated such suspicions. I turned in time to see one coming from a room at my back, and promptly smashed it over the head. More came from the corridor I had turned away from. I was suddenly surrounded. They latched onto me. One got awfully close to my neck ... I pushed them off in the nick of time, ducking out of the way as more came, then more ... and more still. I didn't have the energy to take them all on, so I ran.

After a couple of weaving turns throughout the halls, I found that I wasn't the only living person down there. There were others. Soldiers - running in the opposite direction. As they breezed past me an to certain death, I progressed. The garage was just ahead. And so was whatever they were fleeing from.

Destination reached. There was only one military convoy truck left. I also found out why the soldiers ran. Apparently, an infected yellow jacket queen decided that the truck's interior would be the perfect place to make a nest. There were hundreds of her children inside.

Around this time, boi and the others arrived. We were armed with insecticide spray and began dousing every nook and cranny of the vehicle to kill the bastards off. Upon realizing most of them were still nestled deeper within the truck, I had the gall to start bashing on the sides of it with my fists. Yeah, that irked them. The swarm woke up to that. Combating the wasps was strangely easy. As soon as the poison spray hit them, they went down. no, the real trouble was big ol' Tyrant. He'd been lurking in the corner of the room and decided that now was a good time to play.

Between the wasps and Tyrant, I really didn't foresee some of our own people turning into brainwashed zombies and going after us. Our guns had somehow gone missing. So we sprayed them with poison too. Funnily enough, it worked (all while other comrades began yelling about how we were 'killing our friends' ... but friends don't eat brains ... )

When we finally got a moment, those of us that were left jumped into the truck, and on our merry way we went ...

--

Also, one last night. I was forcibly introduced to something that might be a new muse. I was dreaming about Arkham Asylum when this sleek-looking wolf, approximately six feet tall at the shoulders and about as sleekly built as a greyhound, popped into the picture. The wolf was a quadruped, but there was a moment in the dream where he ... or she? ... stood on two legs, hunched over. It's fur was a myriad of different shades of blue. Thick paws. We had a stare off. It didn't talk. Totally quiet.

Really pretty though.

Think it might be a water wolf, or something. >.o

Chaaa, now that my mind is whirring ... maybe it's Leise? The shape he takes was supposed to reflect the changes on Naira's soul (owl for tombstone mentality and quietly moving from one life to another, for example), and I was also strongly considering bringing him back a bit, ah ... different. And a little more real (as in, still ghostly, but now everybody can see him ... and can freely interact with others and stuff ... )

In the dream it's eyes and face did, in some way, still resemble an owl ...

Here's another one. Trying to draw people in, here!

So evidently I was a vigilante in this one. My mission was simple: locate and kill a man convicted of raping and murdering a little girl. Because I was that type of hero. Not really a contract killer, but I wiped evil clean from the world, so to speak.

I tracked down the criminal to a secluded 'dungeon' in the middle of nowhere. The forefront looked like your typical home, but as you got deeper in, the corridors became darker, the walls became rock, and the floor became dirt. I searched throughout the entire place and found nothing; forced to retrace my steps. Then I realized I had missed on hallway, and began making my way towards it.

That was when I heard the howl.

I don't know what kicked up in me. Some kind of instinct screaming for a fight, knowing imminent - and supernatural - danger was on its way. There was a small cinematic in my dream where I changed shape (rather painfully, I might add). Here it was revealed to me that I was, in fact, a werewolf ... but not your typical sort. Aside from fur and claws, muzzle and tail ... standing on two legs ... I also had the antlers of a deer. Gauntlets that weren't really gauntlets protruded from the skin behind my fingers and raced up my arms, fairly resembling thorny vines.

And the criminal? Let's not forget about him. The howls became louder, closer. I watched his huge, burly figure race through the doorways. He was also a werewolf, but a normal one.

Our fight was fierce. I raked my claws against his face, body, dealing a good deal of damage. But the wounds he inflicted were just as crippling. At one point I howled, summoning a ghostly version of a monstrous wolf that would either heal me or attack the enemy, depending on my state at the moment. The battle came to a close draw. Bringing him to the final vestiges of life, the criminal fell to the ground, severely weakened. All I needed to do was strike him one more time ...

... And at that exact moment, I saw the things that had happened to this man. The truth behind the murder. The child? He had admired her innocence because he, as a werewolf, had lost it long ago. But there had been no rape or any touching of any kind. He admired her from a distance, wishing he could be mortal like that. But something had happened. He realized that she was not human. Eternally young and an abomination. A vampire? Either way, an event happened that put his life in a threatened position - I couldn't tell exactly what it was. He killed her in self-defense.

There was another thing, too. The vampire girl had a scroll that told the true stories of creation, unedited by monks or religious zealots or whatever. The words themselves had been written down by the higher power. It seemed that while investigating, he realized that a crucial part of the scroll had been ripped out in the battle with the vampire, and flew into a rage while trying to find it.

I wound up sparing him, escorting him to safety while I attempted to clear his name.

There was more to it, but I can't remember. >.o

Had this rather disturbing (only through vibes) dream where I was watching a play in some kind of (reeeeally cheap looking) theater. The audience all sat on normal dining room chairs instead of something bolted to the floor, yet the podium was massive and fancy looking, weird contrast. We all sat two by two in maybe 8 rows total? Not a big audience, lol. A woman sitting next to me sort of annoyed me, but I don't recall what she did to annoy me XD

Then suddenly I was in the play, which was no longer an acting thing, but had become "real". Unfortunately for me the play had been about a group of people stranded on a deserted island, and not one of those fancy palm tree ones, but a rocky bare one, with seemingly perpetual grey skies. Very depressing place, and the sea was very cold. I don't recall what I did afterwards, but the stress and depression levels were very high among my fellow castaways, who just sat around while hope of rescue slowly left them.

I recall there being this thin outcrop of stones, like a natural pier, that reached into the sea. They used it for entertainment to jump of off and swim. It didn't seem like a very good idea as it was rather dangerous and the water was cold! But yeah, at least they seemed happy playing on that thing :p

It didn't have an ending, though I recall a vague thought crossing my mind "Why don't they just go back home?" like I knew of a way to leave the island, but nobody was using it for some odd reason. I think there were boats just out of their line of sight or something...

This might not be qualified to be under the 'Weird Dreams' category ...

But there's nothing quite like waking up to your two cats sitting in the doorway, staring at you expectantly because they're food bowl is empty. Or waking up to one or both of them sitting on and kneading you.

Last night I dreamed I adopted a dog that was half dobermann and half collie, who then aided me on some freaky Indiana Jones-ish adventures. I named him "Killer" (literally, in English) and he was an awesome dog.

Fun that I can actually see the symbolism in this one.

I dreamed that I was walking into the local grocery store, called Food Lion. The manager didn't realize I was still inside when she shut off the lights and locked the doors.

While roving the aisles, trying to find my way out, I came upon this kitten ... Or rather, it came upon me. The little guy was black with blue eyes. And it was followed by others of different colors. But all of these other ones were much bigger. Clearly, the little black guy was the runt. He was so cute and lonely .. I picked him up and got out of the store with him in my arms.

Turned out the kitten was totally infested with fleas and other insects. It took a lot of work, but we were finally able to rid him of his parasites and claimed him as a new family member.

The fun bit if ... my mother just got out of a crummy situation. She's been held back by a neglectful probation officer. After I did some nudging, the officer is finally allowing her to come live with us in November. And mom has black hair, blue eyes, and an affinity for black cats.

I usually only remember fragments of my dreams, which drive me mad since they're often epic and complicated stories where I escape evil in some form. :P

The most recent one had a Transformers-vibe (dreams often reflect things I'm into at the time, I had a lot of Harry Potter dreams when I was into that). I was in a very large, majestic building and I had a purpose being there, but I don't exactly remember what. The building was large on the inside with pillars, huge windows, imagine some old marble building. There was a war going on, that much I recall, with the Transformers mechs being present and stuff. I didn't much care about the war, I cared more about staying alive.

In the beginning it was more like some kind of negotiation or something, there were people and robots around, and they seemed to reach a conclusion of some kind. I was standing to the side, not really taking part. I don't really remember my own role in the thing, but I think I had some secret agenda due to what happened next.

An old man, seemingly a janitor of some sort, sneaked up to me and told me he had a very important mission for me. I never got a clear picture of WHO he was, but the whole man just radiated importance. He handed me a very small ring and told me that it had IMMENSE power, and that I needed to take it and run, that the Decepticons (aka the bad killer robots in Transformers) were coming after the ring and that I needed to use it to run and hide somewhere.

Immediately as I got the ring, I could feel it's power, it was amazing and wild and bubbling. I also could feel every single person (and robot in the room) looking at me. The old man had disappeared, and the ring was glowing with a weird black light. I remember shouting, people and robots moving towards me, but I acted before them.

The first thing I could think of was to make a dragon. The blackness coming from the ring started forming beneath me, and I was slowly rising to the air, sitting on a slowly forming, huge black dragon. The others in the room seemed to move in slow motion as the dragon formed. I was crap at using the ring though, the dragon was wispy and unstable and I could feel it, but I had to RUN. The panic of getting as far away from everything was making it hard to breathe and I only focused on getting airborne.

I managed to get the dragon into the air, crashing through one of the huge windows, but as soon as I got over the building, slowly rising above the city, I noticed that I was pursued. It wasn't the good guys from the building below, no, these were the bad guys. I don't remember what they looked like but they were huge and flying like me and I had immense trouble keeping away from them.

My dragon started disintegrating from the effort to keep the pursuers at bay, and eventually we landed into a street, the dragon dissolved away pretty steadily so it was an easy landing. At this point I was so very tired. I desperately used the ring again, to form a mask, a second face over my real one and entered the nearest coffee shop. I ordered up a coffee and huddled in a corner. Everything was quiet, too quiet.

Then, one after another, seemingly ordinary men entered the shop. Nobody reacted much. But I knew. I could sense the evil in the men, and I could see their searching gazes. I covered the ring on my finger with my other hand and tried to seem ordinary.

Then, something snapped in me. I have no idea what made me do it, but I stood up, ripped away my disguised face and started cussing at them, telling them they'll never have the ring. All the normal people stared at me, wondering what was wrong with me, but the men immediately reacted. A couple grabbed me harshly, their grip was like stone, I struggled but it was as if they weren't even made of flesh. One stood in front of me, gloating. He tried to take the ring, but it was glued to my finger, refusing to come loose. He then ordered another to cut off my finger, but as the other man tried (I was screaming and raising Hell all the while) something stopped him, some shield above my hand. They gave up and started hauling me away.

And there I woke up. :shocked

Had a dream I was at my new work, except instead of doing research on cancer, they kept a check on the alien presence on Earth. Kind of like a really, really boring version of MiB, without the uniform, gadgets, jokes, or young people. Everybody just sat behind their desk doing paperwork, including myself. Even when some aliens (which were never actually seen by myself) were acting up/causing trouble, the transformation of an office supply room into an actual office was much more interesting to everybody, even getting people to get up from their desks to check it out.

Seriously, what?

This one was before Scott joined the site.

He was stuck in an underground tunnel, blocked off by old and decrepit bricks. I was on the other side with some members from the UV. We each gathered a tool - a chisel, a pickax, a shovel ... anything with a hard metal edge. We went to work immediately, gradually chipping away at the wall keeping him from getting in. Once we had a big enough hole, Scott emerged in some kind of renaissance outfit, clearly getting into the groove with the rest of us. The remainder of the dream was spent going crazy on what was left of the wall, breaking it down for kicks.

Brandr, that dream was epic. Gaeva, that's hilarious, and Windra-- I wish I knew who Scott was, though breaking him out of that wall sounds awesome. xD

My three favorite dreams were recurring ones. Finding a huge, beautiful library that was only accessible through secret passages in my closet. When I had the same dream a year later, it had beautiful spiders making webs from the corners and the roof, but for some reason I wasn't afraid of them (and I'm a huge arachnophobic). The third time, another year later, the dream had this interesting cold, dark storage with ancient figurines and mysterious objects that you had to go through to access the library. Good times, I wish I could have that dream again.

As far as crazy goes, I once dreamed that all the characters from that disney Cars movie were trying to kill me. They all had Men-in-black sunglasses and somehow... were holding guns. I kept having to dodge them using interconnecting vents all around in this city.

My latest dream, however, was rather disturbing. In retrospect though... dang what a rush!

Basically, this guy had started... following me around. Invading my bubble of space. All around, just being a stalker. At first it was just annoying-- I didn't feel I had much reason to be afraid of him because he was about my age-- but annoyance soon gave way to wariness, and I started trying to take different paths home or mix up my schedule to throw him off. Didn't do a thing. He was always there.... Either on the driveway or in the front yard waiting for me to come outside with my car... It was incredibly unnerving.

When stalking gave way to violent attempts to get near me, such as throwing himself against my car or trying to break into the house just to be by me, I was scared shatless. I wanted to call the police, but for some reason "knew" they wouldn't be adequate so I called my Dad over instead.

He quickly scared the guy off cause he had walked here with his gun. And here's where things got crazy. Dad gave me a bunch of money and supplies, stuffed it all in my little buggy, and told me to get in and just drive far, far away. He and my mom and sisters would stay behind in the house to trick the guy into thinking that I hadn't left.

It was a great, great plan. Or it would have been, had he not been standing outside the secret garage just as I was pulling out.

I drove as fast as my car could carry me out of the neighborhood, but his own car was soon following close behind. Several times I was able to lose him on the road, or in cities, but there came a point where I knew I had to stop and picked a real crowded, confusing city for my cover. I bought some extra supplies, but... he soon found me in the store. I pushed past him and ran to my car, planning to lose him in the midst of the city and just drive and hope to lose him permanently.

For a short while, this sort of cycle continued. I didn't know where I was going and I didn't care; I just wanted to lose him, but every time I thought I had, he would somehow pick up on my trail and I'd see his car somewhere behind mine in the rearview mirror. I'd make close encounters with him while stopping somewhere to restock, or if I needed to find somewhere safe to refill gas. I don't remember sleeping, though I know this was about a span of two weeks. I guess sleep just wasn't a relevant aspect of the "world" this kind of dream was.

However... there came a point when one of my encounters... wasn't so lucky.

I was exhausted, weary, fatigued and weakened by all the stress, too much so to run fast enough to escape him this time around. He finally caught me on one of my new city's sidewalks and took me to this abandoned house an hour away. Not the kind you may think; more like a suburb house that had only recently been cleared out. For perhaps a few days he just kept me there, providing me what I needed but for the most part restricting me to that room, and oddly but thankfully enough, didn't "try anything". He had thought that he had finally gotten me all to himself, and was relieved because of it.

What he didn't know was that I still had my cellphone.

And for some reason the cellphone ran on self-rechargeable batteries.

I spent those days waiting for my cellphone to recharge again, and to my great surprise and dismay, realized that I was starting to fall in love with this guy. Luckily, however!! I was very well aware of the fact that I was only experiencing the symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome (I thank Cracked.com for all their little jabs at Beauty and the Beast) and made sure not to act on these feelings or dwell on them. I remember feeling angrily disappointed, for I had always thought myself to be someone who'd never be stupid enough to actually develop that syndrome. Oh well. there were more important things at stake.

When my cellphone was finally alive again, I immediately called my family to let them know that I was still alive. Then I called 911, but unfortunately, panic took over and I just couldn't get the words out. Besides, what was I going to tell them? I had no idea where I was and hadn't known for weeks now. I didn't even know this guy's name. I was starting to forget mine.

But then I heard him coming, so I hid the cellphone behind my back. He came into the room and was laughing softly yet hysterically, if that makes any sense. He tried to make a few jokes, I did too, but eventually he asked if I'd been calling someone. I said no, that I was just doing some stuff while he wasn't around. He seemed convinced and approached me, so I walked over and gently wrapped my arms around him only to KNEE HIM IN THE ABDOMEN!

... And also sock his face with my cellphone.

He was stunned enough that I was able to escape the room, and now had to deal with finding my way out of all these darn corridors. He was only a few yards behind me the whole time, but I didn't care, I was charged with too much adrenaline to let him touch me again. I found a room with a warm draft, knew that there must be a door to outside here, searched desperately around and grabbed the nearest household object to hit him with when he finally caught up...

But then I woke up in my bed.

This was probably the most intense dream I ever had, and the one that I remember the most details about, just because everything was too... disturbingly vivid and real for my taste. I spent my morning waiting for the adrenaline and emotional whirlwind to die down; watching random TV junk helped.

Very in-depth. O.o Creepy. I'd wake up shaking too.

I had a dream about a month ago that I still can't get away from. There was a road ... A big old tourist-type bus being followed by at least three cars. What was strange was it seemed like they were all being lead by a very thin, intangible string. Anybody ever see Donnie Darko? Something like that. Anyhow, the line of cars was going on an overpass on a highway. Suddenly the string in front jerked. The bus lost control, and all three cars behind it veered away to keep from getting tangled in the mess. Not that it worked, mind you ... Half of the vehicles went over the bridge.

I vaguely recall being lifted into the air and granted the vision of carnage below. Two people were ejected from their cars. one woman's head was crushed in. The other was a man who's legs were terribly mangled. Both were dead. A police officer was covering them with tarp.

Luckily they were the only fatalities, but I awoke from the dream feeling like it was real. Fortunately enough nothing like that has happened yet, though I've been skimming the news every now and then just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating a prophecy or something.

Had another one last night that kind of played out like my own private E3 convention. I was being presented with three video game premieres. The first one was a knock-off of Dino Run, which is an online computer game that's ridiculously fun. This version was upgraded to Xbox and was side-scrolling much like Mario. You played as dinosaurs that ran across logs on burning lava and other terrain, all while screaming their heads off. Great fun!

The second game was something called 'Family Time'. Don't derive any meaning from the title, please. It was nothing like it sounds. It revolved around a little boy and his dog. Sitting around the house one day, he stumbles across a book who's original title has been worn down and faded, concealed by another ... more promising title. The original name of the book? 'Unsolved Murders and Missing Persons'. Suddenly the world around you dissolves into a dank, depressing scene. The town he lived in, once lively, is dark and empty ... You're basically dumped into a Silent Hill-type environment and are assigned with solving these crimes against humanity.

And then the last game! It was called 'Human Element' after a promising soon-to-come zombie game that I'm absolutely DYING to get. Still set in the abandoned town from the previous game mentioned above, the streets are now filled with zombies. But this wasn't a typical survival horror thing! These zombies were conniving! Instead of watching you pass them and groaning, trying to reach you ... they would lunge and snatch at your clothes and drag you quickly backwards, then struggle to bring you to the ground. Should you shoot a zombie's legs out or hit them in the lower spine, they'll regenerate spider legs and attain the ability to scale walls. Unarmed? No problem! Elbow them in the head, and they get dazed for a few minutes!

And, uh ... that was it.

I absolutely adore Dino Run. xD Also, both those latter games actually would've been real fun. I'm not much of a gamer but I can't resist a good zombie story.
