It's a Loverly Spring, Charlie Brown! [Open]

(Willy Nilly rules here! Post whenever you feel like it, NO TURNS NECESSARY! Let the 10 minute delay be your spam guard!)

At the cause of chaos:

The prison, a great gash of ash and smoke, blasted from the heart of deep forest. There rivers of orange acid ate away, sucking what little life was left while spires of ghostly white energy rose of from the scorched earth. In the dead center of this lay a mighty tree, untouched but slightly uprooted from the blast and around lay 5 beings key of the forest, hovering about. Their vital states however could not be determined at this time...

A few miles away and approaching the area however:

"Bum buttery, flit fluttery
Dum diddly-ooh
Bum Buttery, bluebird
Is singing a tune."

An airship, sped over the remaining tops, avoiding the seemingly random pillars of billowing smoke and any pockets of distortion brought about by the calamity rocking through the area.

"Daffy-down-dillies awaken
And prune"

Upon this ship was a pirate... well he didn't look like one but he was at the helm none the less, his pink hair cut to neck length and ruby eyes sparkled in homicial joy as he sang, not really caring about the haphazards in the way of his vessel. Serving and snaking about the bush of the forest, trying to strike the tender neither region of Geava's Deep Forest.

"Bursting in bloom
All the flowers assume
It's a loverly, loverly spring."

-And he was singing.

"La-la-la. La-la-la-la-la Ohhhh
Chit-chattery chipmunks
All singing along,
Humming their
Join-in-a-spring-along song."

Ironically all the things he was singing about were either on fire, dead or about to be blasted into the air by the tremors originating from the crater.

"Spring is the springiest time
For a song
It's a loverly, loverly spring!"

The ship served as the result of a shockwave hitting it from a nearby blast, luckily the pirate in a back jumpsuit with some sort of futuristic doohicky managed to correct this minor hinderance and keep on track to the target.

"In the forest we play (ah hhha ah haa)
with the rabbits all day, (ah haaa ahh)
the bees and the birdies and fishes (ah haaa ah ahhhaaa ahhhh)
There's nary a care (ah haa ahhh aaa)
and there's spring in the air (ah ha ah ahhh)
The feeling is just too delicious
8] (ahh hhhaaa ah ah ahhhhhh)"

As a side note, I as the narrator have no idea how he's singing two vocal lines at once.

"Bum-buttery buttercups all in a row
Trilling and frilling and stealing the show
May is the merriest month that I know
It's a loverly, loverly,
la-la-loverly
La-la-la-la-loverly spring!"

And now the ship took a nose dive slipping off the trees and dipping into the crater itself, all to the cheery shout of:

"Oh hey! We're he-!"

Slumped up against the cabin’s wall, Naira was a little ashamed to admit that she’d zonked out for a bit. Sleep was something hard to come by in the last few days, especially considering the jump from one world to another. As soon as singing pierced the depths of her dreams, the Reaver reacted as if it were an alarm clock: grumbling while attempting to smack the electrical contraption of torment off of whatever shelf it was on.

Of course, there was nothing there. Naira awoke to realize that it was Juno singing. ”And I thought the music box was bad … “ Really … the chipper tune didn’t quite fit the turmoil of Deep Forest right now. But when one line rang out (”Chit-chattery chipmunks; All singing along – “) just as nearby squirrel came to the edge of its branch to let out an incredibly loud lion’s roar not befitting the rodent, Naira burst out laughing.

Right. This wasn’t supposed funny. Back to serious-ness.

From the looks of things, they were nearly there. Naira stood to stretch. She passed a casual glance to Barbannis, offering a smile. ”One thing I probably should’ve mentioned … “ A thumb-jerked was directed towards the pirate. ”So long as you’re in his company, you might as well check your sanity at the door.”

The Prison was within spying range. What had once been a brightened pasture of greenery and trees became a blighted welt on the face of deep forest. The earth was barren and scorched. Cracks ran deep within the ground. A mote of churning red fluids marred the center – stuff that could have been easily mistaken as lava. Given the corrosive properties, it might as well have been. And there in the middle of it … a tall tree, totally untouched by the ongoing cataclysm of time and space.

Four lifeless bodies hung limp around its branches. They were suspended in mid-air as if being held up by giant invisible hands. Naira had only seen Gaeva a few times. It was hard to mistake that purple mane.

Wretched. If the winged unicorns were awake to see what was becoming of their home, they would certainly go ballistic.

”Oh hey! We’re he – “

”Wut?”
Oh. They weren’t moving on trees anymore. They weren’t moving on anything. Nightmare pitched forward at a 90˚ angle. No longer were they facing the sky … Any attempt to grab onto something sturdy failed when she found nothing to grasp. Naira slipped onto her back and went skidding towards the edge of the ship. Good thing there were handrails. She latched on and extended a hand to catch Barbannis if he were to slip and fall as well.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

High above the forest a dragon named Aianna flew, surfing the winds. Great feathered wings moved slowly, leisurely as the dragon glided through the air like a big winged serpent, long legs tucked carefully in under her. The long, spiked tail moved slowly, aiding the wings as she continued to glide smoothly, with no real purpose. She was just out enjoying the sensation of flight.

Her senses was turned on to their highest capacity, she flicked her crests, taking in information about the winds and the weather. Suddenly she picked up something unusual slightly to the west of her position. Heat, like the wastelands, but far more intense, ash and smoke and fire burning. Danger. Explosions. The stinging scent of smoke filled up her nostrils and she sneezed, hovering up in the air for a moment, trying to decide what to do. She was high up above the clouds, so the danger was still far, far below her, but her curiosity urged her to find out what could cause such sensations, such a blaring mark of danger and destruction.

Hesitating, the big feathered dragon changed her course to the west and downwards, gliding smoothly on the winds. She dove into the clouds, mist covered her feathers as she did, glistening moisture on her scales and finally she reached below the clouds and could see the destruction below. The hot air quickly took care of her wet scales and feathers, even though she wasn't that near to the source of it.

A huge, unnatural gaping hole in the forest. Looming beneath her just a couple of wingstrokes to the northwest. The area looked small from above but she could tell it took up a big part of the forest. It was a field of destruction, with red hot lava surging in rivers, strange white energies swirling around, ash and smoke billowing and polluting the air, travelling upwards with the winds. Something loomed in the middle of the field, something green, but Aianna was too far away to see what it was.

A faint sound distracted the dragon from the horrible sight, her ears swiveled curiously. The sound was oddly melodious, cheerful, almost chippery. She turned her head, trying to locate the source of the sound and spotted an odd sight. There was a thing nearing the destruction, a ship of some kind, she guessed. The sound came from the ship. It was not at the terrible area yet, but nearing it, steering towards it as a matter of fact.

Aianna hesitated only for a brief second before going into a dive, wings folding closer to her body. She had to warn the ships inhabitants of the dangers ahead! Why had they not noticed the smoke, ash and tremors?! She raced towards the ship, noticing as she neared that it was far bigger than her even, but she could already see she was too late. The ship was not far from the crater now and suddenly, when she was only a short distance away (she could see people onboard!) the ship nosedived into the crater!

Almost as soon as he departed, he returned with the satchel hanging about his neck. A rather daunting beeline was made towards the hippogryph and her mysitcal pool -

"Brace yourself!"

- and he pushed her in with extended forepaws. The water splashed up to meet him in the face. But soon he was submerged ... encased in water one moment, and then ... nothing.

And the valley they left behind simply ... blanked out of existance. Talk about perfect timing. Had they left any later, there was no gaurantee they'd exist at all.

****************************************************

Simi's memories were a blur of split seconds. One moment she was guiding her friends to the mystic ponds... the next, filled with flustered and confused dismay when Attor had gone flying the wrong way... the next, seeing the dragon return with satchel-on-neck, shoving her with his huge forepaws as they were both hurled into water once more...

And then...

And then air all around...

Simi tried to take a breath, but found that the wind was blowing upward into her face far too strongly for her to inhale. She forced her tightly shut eyes to open and, despite the burning sensation of the air drying her eyes, her expression widened into that of shock.

The forest below them was marred by a large, barren circle in the center. Flowing with lava streams and steaming with smoke, the place was only graced by swirls of cirrus hovering over the landscape... and the presence of one tree shielding four shapes underneath its branches.

Also, they were falling.

.... Wait, they were falling!!!

"Attor!" the shiftergryph screeched out as she spread open her wings, the movement jarring her bones and bruising the muscles, although shaky elation threaded her voice. "Look, down there! It's the place where I was earlier!" She glanced around to catch sight of the dragon, but concern flashed in her dark violet eyes as she searched for her other companion. Where was Klinge?

She knew that the half-dragon had leaped with them, so why was he nowhere to be seen...?

Simi broke her train of thoughts, shaking her head furiously. Klinge would be alright, she scolded herself. After all, he had wings, too. But her friends may still be at the damaged crater beneath, and she was anxious to know if the inhabitants from earlier were still okay.

She angled her wings to glide down. "We need to get back down there!" she called out to Attor as she neared the Prison, but slowly came to notice that they weren't the only ones here. Below there was another dragon, although covered in feathers. Simi was about to call out to her, but stopped when the glint of metal caught her eyes.

It was a ship! Maybe not quite like the one she'd seen before, but a ship all the same. Perhaps Lyrial and Devon were inside?

But Simi hadn't even time to entertain this thought either, as she realized with a paling horror that the ship was teetering on the edge of the surrounding trees, about to hurl itself into the smoking crater. She dove down, heart racing as she thought only to help, barely taking the time to realize that there may be little she could do for the unfortunate machine. The phoenix fire covering her wings had continued to burn since their arrival without her even caring to notice, and only brightened as she neared the Prison.

"Anyone in there could-- Oh no no no no no!!!"

He remained silent, still.

His arms folded over his chest, feeling the wind slipping through his armor lightly with each tree they passed, closing nearer and nearer to their location. His eyes remained closed, waiting quiet to himself, not taking notice of those behind him. With a flicker of light slipping from the edge of his armor side he opened his eyes, turning his gaze to Naira a moment, nodding his head to her comment.

It felt different.

He was not at the forefront of a battle, an army at his side. He was not standing against a greater enemy he knew the dark secrets of. Instead he was being led to the apparent destruction of the forest itself. The world falling apart around them.

The Tyrai wolf slowly stepped forward, his hand wrapping around the edge of his hilt, eyes peering into the open skies as the ship passed over the edges of branches and tree's alike, atuned to song from its captain. He came to the front, hand pressing down across whatever he could hold on as they came closer.. closer.

Barbannis tightened his grip of both sword and ship, eyes peering down into the cater as their transport made its final push, diving nose first towards the hole in the forest, his eyes caught sight of that what lay in the middle, but he lost sight as the ship dropped, feeling the air brush through his armor once before. Fingers tightened against the ships side, feet rising from the edges as his light began to slip from the edges of his back,

'Here we go..' his mind whispered.

Simi’s words were dim to his ears with all the wind rushing past them. He was falling at a much faster rate, and while the hippogryph had regained control of her flight pattern … Attor was still tumbling out of the sky.

Cloudy white cumulonimbus patches parted as he slipped through. Within no time at all, land was visible from above. A darkened haze of vision offered him no sight of this, save for the indistinct color of brown earth and something red … Every few seconds the veil would be lifted, only to blacken a moment later. During one of these sporadic moments, Attor was able to glimpse the forest and some massive abomination skating along the treetops.

He was also able to comprehend the direness of his situation. Barreling through the atmosphere at mach speeds, the dragon was set on a collision course with said ‘massive abomination’. Closer inspection (brought on by his speedy descent) revealed the nature of the bulky thing below. It was a ship. That wood would splinter beneath his weight, moving this fast … and though it would not kill the dragon, it would certainly put a dent into his exoskeleton, rendering him vulnerable to others.

Only a few feet now. Attor was too weak to do much but minimally alter the degree of his trajectory by spreading his wings a little and shifting his tail. This altered the airflow beneath him. It would have come as a relief to those on the ship, no doubt, when his burly frame just skimmed the crow’s nest and left the rest unscathed. Continued shifting and flapping of his long wings also slowed the dragon’s pace.

The earth was still coming up pretty quickly, however. And the poisoned nectar Attor ingested before … the effects were still being felt. He succumbed as the last reserves of energy were wasted, falling unconscious in the last precious moment of his descent. The limp draconic body struck home, kicking stone and dust into the air. He skid across the arid plain, claws raking deep grooved within dehydrated soil. Wings splayed out on either side, taking on the appearance of a black cape despite the row of tiny, but long, spines striking through the middle.

Due to the worst of circumstances, Attor was out of commission.

Poor, naive Simi was at first under the impression that Attor was falling past her speeding to the rescue, about to use his mighty draconic strength to catch the ship and save it just in the nick of time.

... This, she quickly realized, was not the case.

The dragon was spiraling out of control, fast. And he was heading straight for the ship. But alas, Simi would never be able to reach either of them in time, even if she was diving as fast as her tired wings could push her. She was barely aware of her calling out to him over and over again, shrieking for him to spread his wings, to catch himself, to look out for the ship, to just open his eyes!

The dragon, thankfully, was just awake enough to glide out of harm's way, sparing both himself and those within the ship before slamming into the ground with a loud THUD. He skidded across the crater, sending acid and dirt flying in all directions before finally slowing to a stop, unconscious.

"Attor!!!" Simi screeched as she finally landed, galloping with clumsy hippogryph legs to his side and doing her best to ignore the singed limp in her foreleg. She circled the dragon's head anxiously, desperate concern and panic in her demeanor.

"Are you okay? Please, say something!"

But her attention was drawn again to the groaning, teetering ship at the edge of the trees, and Simi glanced up with wide eyes. Too many things were crashing to the crater!

Oh come on! Where is it? Where is it? Juno thought as his eyes danced about the several levers at his side of the wheel. Looking around for the correct one till he found it. A bright red lever reading "Emergency break"

"Ah-HA!"

This only popped out small waterlogged sign in front of the steering wheel that read: Juno, remember to fix the breaks. Love, Juno

"DANGIT!"

Juno tried another switch this one creating a few clanks and creaks below decks as the machinery inside whirled around and then with a slight popping noise and a whirll of converted energy the nightmare was... rolling along the inside of the crater.

The extended landing gear hidden on the under side of the ship was now acting as wheels to convert the energy from the vertical drop against the sharp edges of the crater so now mighty vessel has been scooped up with the curve and was now gliding towards the center.

Directly at the center.

Where the tree was.

With a quick dash of his hands Juno swerved to avoid the center/middle and realized why he was still going so fast. The engines were still on. With a few more clicks of the lever he managed to shut them off, just in time to see the opposite lip of the crater come up to greet him. Grasping the controls he prepared to make a turn...

And the ship was airborne once agian, but now in a rendition of one of those skateboarding simulators. In this case: Juno's Pro Shipskating 3!

So after looping past the edge again the ship managed to land and scoot along the bottom, this time though it Plowed into the ground stopping somewhere midway between the lip of the great crater and the midpoint. The wheels had been corroded by the dip of acid and had now firmly anchored the ship into a slab of ground, now an individual island of land, given the moat of orange.. stuff.

"Anyway as I was saying, we're here! Now if you'll give me a moment I have some repairs to make."

The next few seconds were so filled with action that Aianna barely could fathom it all. She was a dragonslength away from the crashing ship when another dragon came tumbling out of seemingly nowhere, completely taking Aianna by surprise. She hadn't sensed it, not at all! She should've been able to hear, see, smell or otherwise pick up the changes in the wind, the sounds of another dragon. But it was as if the dragon had just appeared, tumbling out of nowhere!

The foreign dragon was smaller than she and much smaller than the ship, but it still almost hit the machine as it fell, Aianna was still too far away to help, so close but yet so far! She shrieked a shrill warning, the only thing she could do. "Beware!"

The dragon appeared weak, but somehow managed to narrowly avoid the ship to Aianna's relief, she held out an excited breath but had to gasp in another deep one as the dragon didn't manage to completely right itself, instead crashing into the plain, skidding along it until coming to a stop, a gruesome sight.

Aianna could not stand by idly, she beat her wings hard, managing to reach the dragon not long after it'd crashed, carefully letting her claws impact with the horrid soil, her scaled feet shielding her from the heat. She kept her feathered wings tucked up high, hoping no ember would come her way. The least she'd need right now was to catch on fire. She'd landed only a short distance from the smaller dragon, she could reach out and touch it if she so desired. "Are you well? Are you conscious?" she asked, hesitant to prod the other beast, instead trying to verbally couch it into awakening.

Another being came soaring down, appearing to be burning, and Aianna stiffened her wings, ready to flap them if any fire reached her. This being galloped to the fallen dragon, most likely screaming its name. She looked at the much smaller being, partly confused and partly feeling sorry for the little female (she assumed the little one was female due to the voice being... a little shrill, but it could be the panic). She hadn't sensed this little being either, and faintly wondered if there was something wrong with her senses.

"Do you... think this one. Attor, did you call him? Will be fine? Why was he flying so unsteadily?" she spoke in a calm voice, trying to also calm down the little female.

Only now, she remembered the ship and cast a glance back, following the sight of the strange bird-horse female. She watched the ship barely save itself, somewhat, and clumsily land not far away, sending tremors through the ground as it crashed down.

Simi watched the upsetting antics of the ship, only letting out an exhale of relief when it finally skidded to a safe stop in the middle of the crater, just about ready to faint. However, she was distracted from her shaking legs and dizzied thoughts when a kind voice reached out to her, albeit rather loud.

Right, the dragon. The other one.

"Do you... think this one. Attor, did you call him? Will he be fine? Why was he flying so unsteadily?"

Simi turned to the dragon, and was rather taken by surprise with all the lovely feathers that covered her wings and beard. The shiftergryph shuffled her own wings in self-consciousness, although she was still panting from the flight down here and the frightening battle from earlier.

"Y-yeah it's Attor and... I'm Simi and he was...Tired... I think...." she began, panting. "I think the... flowers he ate... they paralyzed him and then... giant.. giant ants... we had to fight them off... so they... wouldn't eat us and then... there were these pools and..." She stopped when she picked up on the other dragon's slight wariness of her fire, and fluffed out her wings again before holding them tightly against her.

"S-sorry, they won't... hurt you or anything... flame up when I... panic... they'll go down in... a moment..." She winced when a headache pulsed at her forehead.

You know, I should really, really sit down right about now.

She finally stopped standing and kneeled on the ground, her hind legs splayed out to the side as her fore paws held the ground tightly. The hippogryph glanced back at the ship.

"Is everyone there... okay?" She wondered if the feathered one would check. Simi liked her. She had a nice voice, and it was so good to be in the company of others again amidst all this woodland chaos.

OOC:

Just to clarify for anyone here, Simi is supposed to be a unicorn that can shapeshift into a phoenix, but the reality shifts mixed up her two forms into one, turning her into a hippogryph.

"Anyway as I was saying, we're here! Now if you'll give me a moment I have some repairs to make."

"Awesome. If you need a hand, I'll be floating about." Naira regained her footing only to vault over the ship's banister. "Tally ho!"

Nevermind the fact that they were in the crater. Moments before they were almost divebombed out of the sky by a kamikaze dragon who now lay unconscious where he landed. Even though the Reaver wanted to investigate the anomaly involving the unicorns at the Prison's center, there was this little matter of somebody being potentially on the verge of death ... and she was never really good with leaving somebody to writhe in agony unless they deserved it. Finding a narrow point where she could jump across the acid bath took some time and brought her in the wrong direction. As soon as contact was made with firm ground, she was quickly walking to where the others stood poised around the defenseless draco.

Evidently the earth was not all that intact. Naira found this out when a patch of stone crumbled under her foot. She jumped back just in time to avoid becoming a melted glob of flesh and bone. The bits of rock sizzled and became molten before her eyes. Just need to watch my step from now on. All in all, she really didn't know what to make of this. Perhaps Deep Forest really was on its last leg ... ? How long before this trail of destruction spread to the other corner of the forest? How many would die? It was a haunting thought.

"What's up?" Naira called while approaching the hippogryph and the feathered dragon. She arrived in time to hear 'poison' and 'ants'. Passing between the two idle creature, she knelt by Attor's side and felt the exoskeleton on his forehead, carefully avoiding the spines arching from between his brow. There was definitely fever ... but it wasn't too terribly bad. And his breathing retained a normal rythm and depth.

"Everyone back there is fine ... " She glanced casually over her shoulder, regarding the ship with a raised brow. She didn't know if Barbannis was still on it or not. She assumed he would have gone towards the tree by now. "So's your friend." Attor turned about in his unsconsious state. Was he snoring? "He's asleep. Whatever you went through must have taken a lot out of him." A quick look-over didn't reveal any obvious fractures, but there were a few spots where the firm casing of his body was cracked and bleeding lightly.

"I don't suppose either of you can heal ... ? All my supplies are back at the inn."
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

The feathered dragon watched warily as a figure vaulted over the side of the ship, starting to make its way over to the two dragons and Simi. It took the figure a little time to find a safe way towards them, but once she drew nearer Aianna realized she was staring at a female, humanoid figure. She didn't make any assumptions this early on though, she'd learnt the hard way that not everything was as it seems.

Her ears listened as the little creature babbled, musing about what kind of creature she might be. She remind the feathered dragon of a gryphon, but the back end was all wrong, horse instead of cat. She shook her head slowly, directing her thoughts in another direction, focusing more on the words spoken. The little female, Simi she introduced herself as, had apparently been through a lot. Ants and poison, it all sounded perilous and dangerous to the big dragon. Most of it made no sense though, Aianna couldn't quite fathom how ants and pools fit together with beings randomly appearing out of nowhere.

She relaxed her wings a bit as the little female apologized for the flames. "Not to worry, Simi. I am just... wary... of fire, that is all. My name is Aianna and I am very pleased to meet you. Although a little bit surprised at your sudden arrival. Just take deep breaths, there's no cause to panic here." Her tone was calm and soothing as she assessed the situation, glancing from Simi over at the unconscious Attor and the ship. "I think they should be alright, the people onboard that vessel. It didn't crash that badly. One is already making her way over here."

The female approaching called out to them and Aianna once again looked over at the approaching figure, letting her pass as she headed straight for the unconscious Attor, fearlessly touching the unconscious dragon. Was that courage or just stupidity, Aianna wondered.

"I am pleased to hear that." she said, letting out a deep breath. "This situation has been exciting enough, and near disastrous. I am afraid I don't know much healing to be of use, I know of some herbs back... home... but I haven't seen any of those around, and my people have a very basic view on healing. Burn the wound, bandage it and apply healing herbs. That's about all I know. If the injury is within, none of my people would be able to help, not even those that specialized in healing. Not that one of them could help either, most of them are long since gone. "

Simi nodded, glad, although she did give a nervous laugh. "Th-that's alright, who isn't scared of fire anyway..." she shuffled her feet underneath her as another headache pulsed behind her eyes and she stifled back a groan.

"Just take deep breaths, there's no cause to panic here," Aianna then continued, her voice reassuring and soft for a dragon. "I think they should be alright, the people onboard that vessel. It didn't crash that badly. One is already making her way over here."

Simi followed her gaze and realized that the feathered dragon was right. Indeed, the whole situation was turning out to be a lot better than she'd originally thought. The shiftergryph decided to take the advice Aianna had mentioned earlier, and inhaled deeply as she shook her wings to get rid of any last nervousness. Even now, the flames were finally dying out.

"Everyone back there is fine ... " the human-like woman assured her before adding, "So's your friend."

As if to testify to that statement, Attor rolled in his sleep, snoring. The noise and movement was so sudden, however, that Simi had leaped to her feet with a squeaky whicker.

"He's asleep. Whatever you went through must have taken a lot out of him." Following the soul-reaver's gaze, the hippogryph had to grasp at her face with a foretalon. Attor was indeed injured, and bleeding... ohh why hadn't she noticed before?

"I don't suppose either of you can heal ... ? All my supplies are back at the inn."

"Ohhhh, I could have!!!" Simi blurted out as she pressed her eyes, looking down in shame and helplessness. "If I was still a unicorn, I could have healed all those wounds at least a little, a-and I could have even removed his poison. B-but the forest changed me, and I don't have my horn anymore and... I can't... do anything right. I couldn't even protect him from the ants..."

She was trying hard to listen to Aianna's explanations, but was simply too distraught to be much of a good listener at the moment. In her stress, Simi had failed to bring attention to the lightning-zapped bruise on her foreleg- among a series of small cuts and bruises over all her feet- or the thin gash on her side. When her head started to throb again, she absent-mindedly tried to push the headache down with her fore-talon's wrist, the spot on her forehead burning with alarming warmth...

... Only for her to realize that the burning sensation on her leg had vanished.

The shiftergryph pulled back to study her wrist, stunned. The burn was still there, but it barely hurt at all anymore, and the little cuts over it had stopped bleeding.

"Wait...?"

OOC:

The touch of Simi's forehead can slow down and even stop bleeding and pain, though she can no longer close and mend wounds. I'll only have her tend to Attor with Windra's permission.

Naira listened as the feathered dagon went on about burning wounds and applying herbs. Indeed, cauterizing the open injuries would stop the bleeding ... but with the insect-dragon's unique hide, there was no telling what it would do to the surrounding exoskeleton.

"I think the wounds are all superficial," she told the bigger draco with a tone of certainty. "If there was any internal hemorrhaging, he would've gone into shock by now." Given his massive size, Attor's organs had to be huge ... and holding massive quantities of blood. It would take a minimal losss of red blood cells for his enlarged form to begin compensating. As it were, Attor was bleeding very lightly from every cut ... and that wasn't the problem The real issue was the number of cuts all across his body.

Simi spoke up. Between bashing herself and sounding very ... introverted ... Naira had this sudden desire to all her Fluttershy. The Reaver shook her head at this strange thought. She opened her mouth to reply, but was cut short when the hippogyph's own wounds began to mend themselves. Well ... maybe only a little. At least there was no more crimson flowing over her charcoal-hued talon.

"So you were a unicorn?" Naira sounded bemused, if a little confused. This had to be the work of ripping dimensions ... "I doubt your abilities would've left when you changed form. After all, it comes from your own will and heart ... and that doesn't go away." She grinned at Simi, doing her damndest to make the hippogryph comfortable and confident in her powers. "Can you give it a shot? I'm sure Attor would appreciate it."
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

To Aianna's great relief Simi was calming down, the flames dying out. She relaxed, finally lowering her wings to rest upon her back and sat down, trying to do it as gently as possible to avoid jostling the smaller beings. The crests behind her ears finally began to move again, no longer rigidly frozen in shock and surprise. The wind in the crater was hot and stifling, barely there, instead there were drafts coming from the small explosions and hot air rising from the burning acid. She did not dare to look at the white lights, they were beyond her comprehension. Best to just ignore those for now.

She nodded solemnly at the humanoid, staring down in concern at the sleeping dragon. Some of Naira's words were foreign, words she'd never heard before but she assumed they were some kind of healing lingo. Terms for complicating matters that she had no understanding of. But it was clear that the many small wounds needed tending to.

Her gaze redirected onto Simi as the small female spoke and the feathered dragon watched in surprise as the hippogryph's wounds started to mend. It had to be some kind of magick, there was no other explanation. Healing magick! It was not the first time Aianna saw someone heal using magick but it amazed here all the same. She turned her head, focusing her amber eyes on the little female in fascination. "Amazing. That is beyond anything my people could ever accomplish, as far as healing goes." She took a step back, putting further distance between herself and the fallen dragon. Give healers room, her aunt had always used to say. Her gaze stayed on Simi though, both amazed and fascinated at the prospect of watching another healing by magick.

"I think the wounds are all superficial. If there was any internal hemorrhaging, he would've gone into shock by now."

So... it only looks like a lot of blood... Cause he's just that big?

The thought had reassured her, but barely. They still looked terrible to someone like her.

"So you were a unicorn?" The elven chimera replied, sounding a little stunned after Simi's somewhat shameful display. "I doubt your abilities would've left when you changed form. After all, it comes from your own will and heart ... and that doesn't go away."

She said this with a smile, and the shiftergryph couldn't help but feel a little better from the kind words, especially as she continued to examine her fore-talon. She hadn't done much more than to stop the bleeding and take the pain away, but maybe... maybe this woman was right. Maybe she could do more, if she just put her mind to it?

"Amazing," Aianna then chimed in with her rich, gentle voice. "That is beyond anything my people could ever accomplish, as far as healing goes."

She felt timid under the praise, but when the Soul Reaver suggested giving it "a shot," Simi decided she very well should. Aianna stepped back, most likely to give her space.

She leaned forward to the dragon's nearest wound, pressing her forehead to the affected area. At first it felt sticky and wet, but as the familiar warming heat pulsed from the place between her eyes, she could feel it... retreating. Drying beneath her. When she pulled away, she saw that the cut was indeed much better than before. It may still be open, but the healing process had at least been sped up. It was a little disappointing, but maybe that chimera's words were still right. Perhaps, later, she'd be able to do what she used to. Maybe she'd just have to learn to dig deep enough.

The shiftergryph continued to tend to each of Attor's injuries, carefully stepping onto his back only when absolutely necessary, before finally letting out a sigh of accomplishment. Even if she'd failed to protect the dragon, she'd at least healed the wounds she had caused. She crept off gently and returned to the dragon and the woman, ruffling her wings.

"It... worked..." Simi told her, surprise and relief on her expression. "N... not all the way, but maybe soon, I could! I think you're right... I can feel the healing... inside, trying to all come out, but it just can't yet. Not completely. At least he's not bleeding."

"I'm... sorry."
She then added. "But I don't believe I know your name."

OOC: Yay for moving on from emo moments!

Barbannis leant over the edge of the ship, it had come to a sudden stop, not far from the center of the madness. His eyes flickered lightly with pale light, watching onwards as Naira had left the ship to attend to the others that had gathered. It had all moved too fast for him to keep track of the beings that were appearing now. His attention side tracked to the tree that lay within the center.. the figures that awaited.

His hand finally loosened from his blade.

There was no Undead, there were no Balraa platoons around the corner, or an army of Necrosis to fight. The ominous sounds that echoed in the deep hole in the forest caught his senses off guard, the world was wrong.

The knight turned his gaze once, glancing to Naira across the way and nodding as she assured everyone was okay. His hand loosened on the edge of the ship as he finally leapt from its side, dropping to the breaking ground with a slight stumble. His wings slipped back within the shell, curling back into his armor with a soft hum, his armor lightly flicking light white flame.

His attention once more finally diverted to the tree. He passed the ground lightly, holding at the edge of his hidden sword as he began to make a move for the center..

OoC

*snort*
Simi = Fluttershy. Totally.

When the feathered dragon moved back to give Simi space, Naira did well to follow her lead. Brief time spent with Siltharyn in the past gave the Reaver the impression that healing magick required great concentration and sometimes a little sacrifice of your own energies. So she stood beside the great eastern-winged dragon, arms crossed and observing with a keen eye. It was like she'd told Toki at the Edge: the thrill of watching others work their abilities was endless and amazing. Time away from the scene also gave her a chance to glance about their current setting. Aside from many acid lakes, there were .. swirling columns of energy, circular and white and glowing. They dotted the landscape like blights. How didn't Naira notice it earlier? Definitely something to investigate ...

The blood beneath Simi's roving talons eventually stemmed to a complete halt. The hippogryph's interruption of the wound allowed Attor's natural bodily defences to kick into action at a quicker pace. All those breaks in his skin were shut off by platelets working together to form blood clots. Inside, white blood cells were seeking and destroying any pathogen that might have broken into his body during the wound's exposure to open air Evidence of this would have been spied from the outside: every cut was becoming inflamed. But this was a uniform response and shouldn't be seen as something potentially dangerous.

Attor was definitely acute to what was going on beyond his comprehension, if only a little. He grumbled and groaned in his sleep. Limbs twitched. Eyeballs rolled about beneath closed lids. The dragon was still dreaming, but they were becoming something fierce. In fact, it was a good thing Simi moved ... He swatted the air where she was moments before with an open hand, claws raking across empty space. Poison still coursed through his veins, but it was dimunitive at best ... failing to overcome the dragon's personal immunities and eventually wearing down to nothing.

The hippogryph approached the idle forms standing nearby. As she spoke, Naira nodded. "A little bit of effort goes a long way. If you doubt yourself too much, you shut down any potential to do good." A gesture to the spasming Attor enunciated her next statement. "And that shows you have a lot of potential." Asked for a name, the Reaver suddenly felt awkward. She really did just stroll up to them without properly introducing herself, hadn't she? "Oh, ah ... sorry about that. I'm Naira. And you are ... ?"

"Ya know, I wonder if anyone's gonna need this." Juno muttered as he tinkered in the below decks of the nightmare, dislodging a first aid kit that had managed to gum up the gear system, oblivious to the injured party outside.

With a shrug he picked the white package of bandages, swabs and gauze and placed it back on its mounting holder, then ween back to the gears below to where the breaks were.

"Hunh there's something jammed here..."

Using the tip of the emmiter from the backpack dohicky he tapped it a few times before giving it a solid push, with a large POP the gears spun freely and the coil finally went out. Flooding the vicinity with padding and crushing the pirate inside for a brief moment before the soft cloth like bubbles deflated and reset into the ship.

So that's why the airbags didn't deploy.

Juno now gazed around and found the jam. It was white, it was skull shaped, it was Alexander.

"About friggin' time I got out of there! I swear if I wasn't invincibl-"

"Wait wait wait, I thought I left you in the bar, how the hell did you get on the ship?"

"Well you see when a sweet young thing crosses my path I just have to follow and-"

"You stowed on because of her?"

"Heck yes she's got a *Censored for little kiddies! Seriously, this block has to be so big to prevent the vugarity of his lecherous comments and descriptions that are better reserved for grown ups!*"

"But how would you do that without a tongue?"

"Evil finds a way."

"Right, well anyway I'm going to need you so..." Juno picked up the yammering skull and duct-taped it to the top of his backpack. "You're the expert on all things weird so you might be able to fill me in on what might be going on."

"Yeah yeah and hey, at this angle I might be able to see her *Censored* next time you talk!"

Alexander, the invincible talking skull. No brains at all.

OOC: Lol, now that you mention it. xD

BIC:

It was a good thing Simi was so tired, or she might have realized that the noise behind her wasn't Attor snoring, but his paw nearly having crushed her. She had instead happily rejoined the two other conscious people here.

"A little bit of effort goes a long way. If you doubt yourself too much, you shut down any potential to do good. And that shows you have a lot of potential," the elven chimera praised her, and Simi couldn't help a timid, but grateful smile. If it weren't for her, she may not have calmed down enough to be able to heal the dragon in the first place.

"Oh, ah ... sorry about that. I'm Naira. And you are ... ?"

"Ah, I'm Simi," the shiftergryph said with a gentle shake of her wings. "It's nice to meet you, Naira, Aianna." Her attention then wavered when one of the ship's passengers headed for the tree at the center, and when Simi remembered who was there, she couldn't help but to stare, both in awe and dread.

For there was the ruling family of Deep Forest. All there... and far from awake.

"I don't understand... why are they all... what made them like this?" she then spoke, quietly. "And... is that... Gaeven? I thought he'd left..."
