Doom upon us

Considering this place is a RP forum, it's not going so well, is it? It doesn't seem to be from lack of members or characters, since we have both, and I see different people online all the time. Not to put to a downer on everything, but I'm starting to think it may be time to close this place down soon if this doesn't change... It's not a threat or anything, but I don't want it to come as an unwelcome surprise when it does come to that.

Sometimes it happens to a RP site that the RPing slows down. Right now, most of the members have lots of stuff on their daily work list and thus have little to no time for it. It can be fixed in many ways, but all of them typically require what is typically calld time and patience.

The difficulty we've been having, Forger, is that everything has slowed down at a scary pace since coming to phbb3. Things haven't ever really 'sped up' we've tried loosening the rules, and all sorts of other things. When it comes down to it, it just seems like people aren't as interested in UV as they use to be. I don't think there's enough RP incentive anymore.

There are always slower times, but I can't even remember the last time RP was really going smoothly. And literally days without posts? That's new in the history of UV.

I just reread my post above and I should clarify I meant I'd shut down UV as a RP board, I'd obviously leave the place up for the regulars to come back to of course.

Or you could just leave the RP up for those that want to rp still...*shrugs*

Also, we are nearing the end of the school semester-most of us, at least. Around this time things get really busy. Let's wait for Summer vacation and see what happens then..

Ohhh.... well, I don't want the Forest forums to go down either. I mean, if worse comes to worse.... if they must go, could one general roleplay forum be made for people to just rp? It wouldn't specify any certain location, it would just be a forum called "rp". I know. Stupid idea ^^'

And what Forger said, that's probably what'll happen. I'd most likely just keep the Vision forums open ^_^

*Crosses fingers* I as well would love to see UV standing tall for another six years and more, it seems like this place has always been here!

As far as inactivity goes... Aren't a lot of the senior group of Roleplayers beyond or approaching the end of collage? From what I understand that's a busy time for everyone, not to mention trying to figure out where you're going to go once school's finally over and done with. Could it be simply that it is this stage of life hitting a large group of the more active members all at the same time, and after everyone is settled back into a normal routine of some kind activity will pick up again? Especially with the new members we've been getting, provided they stick around.

Either way, I hope UV stays openopen for a longlong time! *Clings*

As far as my theory for 'activity fail' goes, Crhisa kinda hit it on the head. The impression I've gotten from those of us in Chat, and for others besides, is that the desire is there, the time is not. Summertime means an end to that for many of us, so I'd expect much more activity in the months to come.

As for everyone without that problem slowing down, my guess is, among other things, seeing a large number of people losing tons of activity doesn't do much for enthusiasm. There are fewer people with whom to talk thread ideas. There are fewer characters available with whom one might want to interact. And there's a lower chance when making an 'anyone can jump in here' thread that anyone will actually jump in there.

Just theorizing. Right or wrong about the reasons, here's hoping for a jump over the summer.

Well, as Blue pointed out this isn't recent, but I do hope you guys are right though. I may complain now and then about the work and such, but UV has been a part of my life since I was 20 years old and I honestly can't even imagine what my adult life would be like anymore without worrying about it in some shape or form every day XD

I'll try pimping UV and the various communities I'm a member of, as I hear from a lot of people who are interested in play-by-post roleplay and are probably looking for a forum just like this one. I'd hate to see UV close down, it was such a fantastic place to spend time during my teenage years, and I'd love to see it return to its original vitality.
