Egret-The resident BirdKid (Still open to anyone...?)
Name: Egret
Species: Human-Avian-Hybrid (Does anyone have a better term?)
Gender: Male
Alliance: Benevolent
Age: 12
Mature Adult at Age: 18
Appearance: Egret is a very slender youth; his body is built such that he only weighs sixty-five pounds. He has very pale skin, bleached from long hours inside of a lab. His face is very narrow, his chin tapering down to a point, eyes silver and reflective in bright light (similar to that of a cats.) He has very thin, downy feathers on his chest, down the back of his legs, and in the area around the groin but does not have any hair, save for that on his head. He also has tail feathers, about two feet long, emerging just at the bottom of his back, which are white with jet black tips, about three inches long, and are there even when he is not morphed. His hair is very straight, coming down just over his ears, and similar in length; it is pure white. Egret is four feet, seven inches tall. His main distinctive feature is his nose. It is similar to that of a bird’s beak, except only the upper part, ending as his upper lip, golden/tan in colour. His chest is just slightly expanded, similar to that of a bird. His eyebrows are very faint, but are in such a way to give him a startlingly fierce expression, especially when he concentrates. His hands, starting at his wrist, are the same colour of his beak, and are made of the same hard material, and each of his fingers ends in a tapered point, and are as sharp as talons. His feet are the same way, and his toes are very flexible, allowing him to grip branches, etc. Also, he has a number tattooed into his right wrist, reading 112-901.
When his arms are morphed, the wing structure is similar to that of a dove, or other smaller bird (smaller near the body, grows larger towards the middle of the wing, before tapering back down), and his wingspan is eleven feet, also, the feathers which normally only part of his body expand to cover nearly his entire body. His feathers are silver-white, except for those near the very tips of his wings, which have about four inches of jet black. The only clothing that he wears is a pair of fitting black jeans, which fit very low to allow his tail feathers room to breath. After some time he has acquired a few more items, like a light tan messenger bag that he wears with a belt along his lower back, which is filled with some basic supplies as well as paper, and pens. Also he wears, generally up above his eyes, a pair of goggles, reminiscent of those used by plane pilots with open cockpits, quite some time ago.
Personality: Egret is very quiet and shy; he is also suspicious of everyone, border lining on paranoia. He is incredibly intelligent, and his words are clipped and precise, if he even talks at all. If he is around those that he knows he is a little more open, if he does not, very little will escape his lips. When faced with difficult situations he sometimes panics, although he tries to appear calm. Although this is true, he is extremely adaptive, and can overcome most things with sheer ingenuity and quick thinking. He is very pessimistic, accounting from his past experiences. But is actually good-natured deep down, and does everything to avoid injuring another person. He prefers quiet and solitude to a large group, but will go to great lengths to help someone in need, although his nature causes him to come out as indifferent to others problems. Also, he is left-handed and very analytical, and is extremely suppressive of emotions. Over time, however, he has grown more open, yet infinitely more curious about everything he sees or touches.
Abilities:
Enhanced senses: Egret, as he was born with genetic alterations, has enhanced senses, mainly his sense of sight, effectively allowing him to see objects at distances miles away when he focuses. His hearing is also better than that of a normal humans, but, for some reason, has a weaker sense of smell and taste.
Reaction time: When it comes to his reaction time, essentially in trying situations, time slows down for him (this is known by athletes as being “in the zone,” and has to do with certain chemicals in the brain reacting, pushing the brain into overdrive. His metabolism is higher, also.
Flight: Egret’s entire body is made to facilitate flight. He is extremely flexible, especially his legs and neck, to allow mobility during flight. His back bone and rib structure is slightly altered to supply an anchor for the muscles which power his wings. Also, his bones are honeycombed to minimize weight and maximize support. His heart is extremely powerful, his heart rate almost doubling during flight. Since he has not been flying for long, he can only sustain flight for around thirty minutes, and reach about seventy five miles per hour, but nearly two hundred while diving. He still is also is not very good at landing. (You’ll see, XD)
Telepathy: Due to his enhanced brain, Egret has developed some slight physic abilities, such as minor telepathy. He can "reach" with his mind to find other individuals, although he is not trained in this. (Able to read thoughts, but the mind has to be fully unguarded)
Healing: After some training in the arts Egret has developed the ability to heal minor wounds, from bruises to cuts and scrapes. Even though it is not the most helpful tool, it Is still something useful in his quest. Essentially he can convert physical energy into accelerating the healing process in his body, but only for anything minor.
Disadvantages: An unusual disadvantage of Egret's is his relation to the magic of the forest. It will affect him in unpredictable ways, such as, in better scenarios, increasing mental capabilities. In worse scenarios, he will suddenly have horrible headaches, and see things that are not really there. Also, in order to be able to fly, he is very fragile; his bones can crushed in easily. His main disadvantage, however, is his age and maturity. Raised in a world where he was nothing more than a lab rat has done wonders for his self-esteem (did anyone else notice the sudden aura of sarcasm?), and, as a child, does not always cope with problems well, at all. Furthermore, he cannot continue to be active through hardship after hardship, day after day, without eventually breaking down, cut him some slack, he is just a kid. He lacks a lot of physical strength, and whenever he pushes himself to the limits, he is extremely fatigued afterwards. He cannot see as well in the dark. Using telepathy requires full concentration, and is taxing on his body after prolonged use. Even though he can only heal basic wounds, it is still taxing on his body if he continually uses this ability, or tries to heal anything larger than what he is used to. Healing small wounds leaves him short of breath, anything more can make him pass out.
Family: Egret has never known his family; he was raised in a lab, as a test subject. This leads him to feel incredibly lonely and longing for company, but past experiences keep him at bay.
History: Egret, although that was not his original name, was born in a hospital, under the name of Michael, but his parents never knew that he survived. They were told that he had died, as he was born prematurely, and was immediately taken to Biotech laboratories for testing; all signs were green, he had survived the first stage. In actuality, the experiment had begun before he was even born; as he was the result of in-vitro fertilization, but some extra genes were added into the mix. Even from the moment he had opened his eyes, they knew that he was a success; he had already begun to track objects with his eyes, was already analyzing his surroundings. Throughout his early life, Michael, or test #112-901, was subject to many painful alterations, some which almost cost him his life. It was when he turned six that he learned that he could morph his arms, being forced to move across a pool to a platform (which had food, and he had not eaten in two days), and, in his frustration, something clicked, although, when he morphed back, he still had the tail feathers, and some of the feathers on his chest (which have grown in a little more since then.) He was immediately removed for more testing, (not to say he did not get food since then.) This continued for most of his monotonously horrible life, until the fateful day arrived. One of the scientists assigned to his project had a lapse of sympathy, and formulated an escape plan, hacking the network and opening his cage. Needless to say, Michael fled (who was known as Egret by some of the scientists and teachers; they educated him, at least) through the corridors, but managed to find himself in a large room, with a complex machine, consisting of two arched towers, surrounded with machinery. As guards ran by and alarms rang, the scientists in this division were enacting an experiment which could prove more ground braking than anything which had come before. They were attempting to open up a portal to another world, dimension, or surprised families house, whichever way it went. This was unknown to Egret, however, who decided to hide behind one of the towers, just as it started humming, lights blinking off of the many complex pieces of machinery. A faint blue light appeared in between the two towers, expanding as the very ground shook, a piercing noise filling the air. Egret, panicked and confused, screamed as he felt himself being pulled in. He grabbed onto one of the towers, attempting to remain out of whatever was pulling him in, hanging on until his fingers began to pop, then he was sucked in, banging his arm on one of the pieces of machinery before entering a maelstrom of colours.
This is what led up to what was the most amazing times of his life, leading him into a world that he could live in freely, and he did so without limitation. For some time he travelled with Crystal, learning the arts of healing and basic survival, and he grew in spirit as the shreds of his heart mended from the damage that had been done. After some time he left to be on his own, coming back occasionally but spending more and more time in the forest, spending his time in an unusual way. He would spend as much time as possible without exhausting himself airborne, enjoying the freedom that the forest allowed him to have, viewing the forest from the air. He would map, as best as he could, different areas on one rather large scroll, dotting landmarks. Also, he would put places of interest: sources of water, interesting looking rocks, et al on as well. Sometimes he would sit in solitude, observing an area and drawing it onto paper, his vivid mind allowing him to draw lifelike scenes even long after seeing them. In short, he spent his time freely, finding himself in the wilderness after long years of being withheld within the lab that created him.
IC: The wind rustled the trees ever so slightly, in their ever shifting dance of the early Spring, disrupted only slightly by the lone figure who sat in one of the highest branches, swaying almost in tandem with the hypnotic motion. He was dressed very sparingly, onle wearing a pair of dull brown pants that looked soft with wear, showing off a very slim physique, the chest covered with a small plume of feathers, gleaming white with jet black tips. Even compared with the immaculate white, he was pale, abnormally so, even his eyes seemed bleached. Coupled with this cold stature, however, was a cheery softness held in those young eyes, curiousity and an adventurous spirit barely kept in check by the hauntings of a shady past. On his lower back, held with a belt across his waist, was a messenger bag, half full of various object, but largely curled scrolls with labels scrawled in an unusual, left-handed style. For the moment he just sat, staring across the barren landscape, watching for the spot where he himself had arrived here. Vaguely he remembered, using distant landmarks to hone in on the spot, and he blinked. That was the spot. After some time here he had realized that this forest had, if you will, a sense of humor, and it was just possible....Reaching into a bag he pulled out a pair of goggles reminiscent of those used in the earliest airplanes...not that anyone would know about those from around here. Not even sparing a second thought, he dove forwards from his perch, rocketing towards the ground with a practiced precision. As he grew closer to impact his arms melded quickly stretching and morphing into gleaming wings, shining brightly in the sun up to the tips which seemed to eat the light away, contrasting violently. Flaring and arching he curved upwards away from the ground, and pumped heavily for a moment, moving quickly, low to the ground, across the barren landscape, wind streamlining past his slim body as he defied gravity. banking to the right he circled the spot curiously before flaring his wings and running to a stop, his talon-like feet leaving furrows in the hard earth, before he stumbled, almost falling forwards. Sheepishly he thought how far he had come, but there was always more work to do, always room to get better. Standing there quietly he thought, and thought. About everything that had happened and everything that could happen.

Re: Egret-The resident BirdKid (Still open to anyone...?)
Among the things that could have happened, one of them was that there could have been a loud bang from somewhere nearby, telling of a rather sizable explosion. Another thing that could have happened was for a girl with silver skin, bat-like wings, and a pointy tail to come hurtling through the air from the direction of the explosion, helplessly flailing about like a rag doll before hitting the ground and tumbling along for several more feet. In fact, both of those things did happen.
Seconds later, another girl, this one distinguishable by her purple hair and long, pointed ears, came running from that same direction.
"Entropy!" she shouted quite frantically upon seeing the first one lying in a heap where she had finally come to rest.
Without pausing for even a moment to look at the bird-like kid, she ran to Entropy's side and knelt down to check on how bad the damage was. As she got close, though, the winged girl stirred and looked up at her, apparently not unconscious at least.
"Nei? Why's there two of you?" Entropy asked. Then after a moment, she started to pick herself back up. "Alright, so that Overcharged Fireball spell is still a work-in-progress, I guess. I really need a proper lab to work on these--"
And that was when she noticed the other winged person standing nearby. Without wasting another moment, she quickly hopped to her feet and slapped an "innocent" grin onto her face.
"Why hello there, stranger!" she cheerily greeted the unknown kid. "As you can see, I was just now totally not doing anything suspicious in the least!"
Nei, meanwhile, just gave Entropy a momentary odd look coupled with a quiet sigh, then turned her attention to the other person as well.
"Uh... yeah, hi," she greeted quickly, then looked back at Entropy and proceeded to pull her back in the direction they had come from. "Come on, En. We'd better make sure you didn't start a fire."

Re: Egret-The resident BirdKid (Still open to anyone...?)
Egret was startled, violently so, at the newcomers appearance. In fact, he stumbled and almost lost his balance. Shocking. Staring owlishly at the two, he tried to figure out what to do or say, and settled on a simple greeting.
"Well....hi?" He said, sheepishly, his voice soft. It had been awhile since he had actually spoken to anyone, and it seemed more difficult than it used to be.
As the second girl ran up he waved timidly, unsure of what these individuals were up to, seeing as one was just literally blown out of the forest. As they turned, running back towards the original impact, he turned to follow, shouting "wait!" Sharply, confused and alarmed. A fire, although he had never heard of it happening before, could possibly pose a threat to the forest. Maybe not so much a fire as a large, violent blast caused by unknown forces, probably this anything other than innocent individual. Shrugging, he followed. Something interesting was happening, at least.

Re: Egret-The resident BirdKid (Still open to anyone...?)
(OOC: Sorry. I did say I'd be slow, but didn't really think I'd be this slow. Here's a post, though.)
Hearing the bird-kid shouting for them to wait, Nei and Entropy both stopped and turned to look him over.
"Tagging along?" the winged girl asked. "Alright, as long as the boss doesn't mind."
The succubus then proceeded to look at Nei for a response. Nei's response was simply to blink a few times in mild shock.
"I'm the boss now?" she asked. "You're always the one pulling me around every--"
Case in point, Entropy suddenly decided right in the middle of Nei's sentence that the conversation was taking too long, and grabbed the newman by the arm to pull her away in the direction the succubus was previously being ushered. Nei just sighed at that point, letting the discussion drop and going along without any further protest.
Luckily, it wasn't very far of a walk before they reached the disaster zone. As it turned out, all there was to see was a fairly large area, about twenty feet wide, of charred ground and blackened tree trunks. Fortunately, or possibly unfortunately if one were looking for a bit more excitement in their day, no fire had broken out.
"A proper fireball just creates a quick flash of heat," Entropy began to explain, despite receiving no particular prompt. "It's intense, but doesn't stay around long enough to ignite anything. Usually, at least. Depends on flammability."
Nei nodded for a moment, taking that information in.
"Well... alright," she finally acknowledged. "But we've got a perfectly good wasteland just west of here. If you're going to toss anymore fireballs like that one around, you might head out that way instead of scorching everything in sight."
"Sure thing, boss," Entropy immediately answered with a wide grin, giving Nei a friendly slap on the back that nearly knocked the wind out of her, leaving her reeling. The succubus then turned her attention back to the kid that had followed them. "You know, if you're going to be hanging around with us, I think some introductions would be in order. Name's Entropy, and my friend here is Nei."
Nei just confirmed this by giving a thumbs-up, being a bit too concerned with getting the breath back into her lungs to actually speak at the moment.

((Hope it's still ok if I join in.))
Dilana Sylva
Curiosity has drawn yet another to the scene of the explosive fireball. She is a golden hind, and having picked up the sound of the explosion from some distance away, she arrives just in time to see the succubus and her friend, along with the bird kid wander back to the charred patch of forest. She didn't come right out into view at first, though the sound of those golden hooves against the ground will have already alerted anyone who was listening to her approach. She hides behind one of the charred trees for a moment, peeking out at the three strangers before slowly walking out into the open, still keeping her distance for now.
Once she is in plain view, one will notice that she seems to be some sort of deer variation on the centaur theme, sporting golden hooves and a pair of short two point golden antlers. She is dressed in a long-sleeve periwinkle blouse, and is armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows, both strapped to her back, but she looks more timid than threatening. After a few moments she offers a wave as she finds her voice, giving a soft "Hello." as she continued to watch them. Someone with a keen eye might also see that there was another hiding at the edge of the forest, watching, it was a young doe, and something about its actions hints at the fact that it's not a fully wild deer.

Re: Egret-The resident BirdKid (Still open to anyone...?)
"Entropy," Egret muttered, "The measure of uncertainty with a random variable..." This was only a brief relapse, unwanted thoughts trying to enter his mind before he pushed them away. "My name....well...." He trailed off, really considering it for a moment, "I have gone by Egret for years...I guess you can consider that my name, then." He smiled, a distant look in his eyes for a moment before it faded once again. As far as the newcomers, he had shrugged off the approaching noise, imagining it was just another deer in the thick woods, until he heard it speak. Spinning around deftly, his talons scraping furrows into the ground. "Oh....hi there!" He said, grinning softly. New people, all at once. It was almost overwhelming.

As the bird-kid said something about the meaning of her name, Entropy stared at him momentarily, though beyond that she didn't really give much indication as to what she made of his analysis. Once he told her his name, or at least a name she could call him, she gave a nod. Then, as the attention shifted to the other new arrival, both Entropy and Nei turned to look at that one.
"Hullo," Entropy replied to the deer-centaur-person. "Come to see the big explosions too? If they're getting that popular, I could always toss out another--"
"No, no," Nei interrupted, catching Entropy's arms as the succubus was raising them up in apparent preparation to throw out another fireball. "We just got through deciding not to do that in the middle of all these trees, remember?
"Oh, right. Must've slipped my mind. Can't keep every little detail in my head forever, you know."
"We... had that conversation... ten seconds ago..."
"I'd say closer to twenty."
"Why do I do it?" Nei responded simply, letting out another defeated sigh.

((Profile Accepted :3 continue rping for a bit. Rule of thumb as far as people posting: Contact the person about it just in case, and if they don’t get back to you for more then a week it may be easier to continue through 1 more round and then wait for a short bit again. If they’re busy they will let you know :3 just be sure to send a PM))

((ooc: Accepted!))
There are so very many dramatic ways that vast, incomprehensible galactic phenomena can kill you, that every single day that you go unmurdered by space is a miracle.
