What a minx!
Moderators: The_Vizir, forgerofsouls
What a minx!
Name: Minx
Species: fae shapeshifter
Gender: female
Alliance: evil
Age:20
Mature Adult at Age: 18
Appearance:
Minx at 6'5" is only average height for her kind, although taller than a human woman. She is also incredibly slender, nearly androgynous, weighing only 152lbs. She almost looks like an elf, with her pointy ears and thin features, emphasized by the short cut of her hair. Her skin is a deep chocolate brown, with a smooth tone, except for a patch of pale skin starting from just under her nose, going around her mouth, covering her chin and extending in a stripe to about the base of her throat. When she smiles, you can see she has fangs and pointy teeth, instead of more human teeth. Her hair is dark brown, almost black, and the same texture as a mink's fur. A stripe of this fur, about an inch wide, extends from the top of her spine all the way down, until it seperates into a tail. Her tail somehow manages to be bushy and skinny at the same time. It is about three feet long. Although her hands are mostly human, they are tipped with claws and lightly webbed. Her legs end in mink's feet, which at first glance make it seem like she's wearing furry clawed socks.
Minx usually doesn't wear much clothes. She finds them quite confining, and she has no modesty taboo. But, for the sake of the weather and their slight protection, she will wear loose-fitting dresses. She doesn't have much preference for style or colour, and just takes whatever's available, as long as it's comfortable. She will leave as much skin bare as possible, at least when it's warmer.
Mink form - When Minx transforms into a mink, she looks very much like .. a mink, a European mink to be precise. A long, slender, flexible, rodent. Like all minks she has a bushed tail and webbed paws. Her pelt is sleek, waterproof, and brown. She has a white patch above her upper lip, and one below her lower lip that continues down to form ventral markings. She is about 1'2" long and weighs about 1lb, 5oz.
Personality:
Minx is evil, in that she has no concept of empathy, suffering or mercy. She also enjoys playing with fuzzy woodland animals, and while a nice game of catch or chew the rabbit's ear might seem perfectly innocent, it tends to be frowned upon. In spite of this, Minx is quite good-humoured. She likes playing jokes on people, laughing with people, tricking people. She also likes music, any kind of music, or even things that most people don't consider music, such as someone stepping on a porcupine, or a rabbit's neck snapping.
She is not human - she is a predator. Humanity is a foreign concept to her and her morality is entirely her own. She simply doesn't care if others percieve her acts as good or evil. All she cares about is that people (or creatures) amuse her. She is not very emotional otherwise; she doesn't seem to get sad or angry or even excited. She is usually calmly amused or bored, although she can get aggressive if someone touches something or someone she considers hers.
Minx also has an interesting quirk, which is actually part of her nature, she cannot tell the truth. (See disadvantages.)
Abilities:
Shapeshifter:
Minx's other form is a European Mink. She can shape-shift into this form and back again at any time, in mere seconds. While in animal form, Minx still possesses the exact same mind as she does in her normal form, and all her advantages/disadvantages still apply. She cannot speak in this form, only make noises. She isn't actually a mink, she is just wearing that animal’s shape. This is her only alternate form, and she can't get any others.
Telekinesis:
She can move anything up to around 5 pounds total, within sight. She can throw smaller objects fairly easily, buy it requires some concentration to keep things floating. The bigger/heavier the object, the more effort it takes to move it. More objects take more concentration, and their total weight combined still cannot exceed five pounds.
Fae Charm:
Fae are magically attractive. There is something about Minx that gets under the skin. A sort of fascination, but not neccessarily a physical beauty. It's something that makes it hard to want to destroy her, whether you love her or hate her. And it doesn't matter what you are, as long as you are sentient.
Semi-Immortal:
Minx's brand of fae age at the same rate as humans, physically and emotionally, until they reach about 50. Then their physical aging stops. She's immortal, as in she cannot die of natural causes/old age, but she can be killed. She does have to eat and drink, but she is immune to natural poisons
Minkness:
Like the mink, Minx is a natural swimmer, in both forms. She also has better than average hearing. Her teeth are sharp, making her bite a bit more painful than a human bite. Although untrained, she has a predator's instinct, and knows how to use her body to her advantage, but she fights better in mink form.
Disadvantages:
Each shift tires Minx a little. She could do two full shifts per day (from the first form to second form and back), but after that she'd be mentally exhausted. She can maintain mink form for two hours before forcibly switching back. That forced switch would knock her unconcious.
Using telekinesis also drains her energy.
Her abilities are natural to her - she has no magical talents. She is unable to learn magic.
Her attractiveness doesn't force people to like her or stop people from realising she's untrustworthy. It simply makes her interesting to them. People who are naturally resistant to charm or illusion would not be affected, neither would people with magical protection from it.
Minx is not invulnerable or immune to pain. She can be killed with weapons or magic or the elements. Magic-based or metal-based poison would work on her. Weapons tipped with poison would still hurt her, it's just the poison that wouldn't.
Although Minx is a strong swimmer, she is not supernaturally so. She can still drown and cannot breathe underwater. Like any exercise, extended bouts of swimming will tire her. Anything thicker than leather would protect against her bite, and her teeth aren't very long. Her instinct will not save her against a trained enemy or against an enemy with weapons. It only gives her an advantage against someone else who doesn't know how to fight.
Fae can sense iron when it is near and are extremely uncomfortable in its presence. Simply being near iron weakens their abilities. When Minx makes physical contact with any iron item, whether it is a weapon or a simple tool, it causes her skin to burn and blister quite painfully. Any wounds that she receives from an iron weapon are excruciatingly painful and aggravated. These wounds fester, burn, and will never heal without the aid of magic.
Due to a peculiarity of her species of Fae, Minx cannot tell the truth. There are many ways to lie and she can use them all, but she cannot by word or writing or even a nod, deliberately be honest. Even if she wanted to.
Family:
Fae birth is rather peculiar and involves some magic. Each type of fae is different though.
Her father, Ferris, was another fae shapeshifter
Her sort-of mother was a freshly killed mink
She was raised and taught by various fae or people, most of whose names she can't be bothered to remember.
History:
After her particularly violent birth, Minx entered the fae world. This world coinicides with other worlds, but is not part of them. It has various exit points, depending on which world someone wishes to travel to, most commonly the human world. Her father raised her haphazardly in this world. Being the same species as her, he couldn't tell the truth. The family bond is not very strong for fae, so once she was old enough to walk and talk, he left her to her own devices. More family oriented fae gave her little tips on how to survive, but she mostly learned for herself.
She was about ten when she finally got bored of Fae world. She quickly got used to the more common portals, and became very familiar with the human world. She discovered how much fun it was to tease people. How easy it was to get them lost, after they caught you stealing their chicken. Stealing, because of its challenge, was much more entertaining than the easy food of fae world. Her life was just one long amusement. Back and forth between fae and human worlds, leaving a trail of mischief behind.
But eventually she tired of that. Humans were becoming a little bland, and fae world held nothing new. So, at the age of 20, she headed for a rarer portal. She'd heard tales of a strange forest, with many varied creatures. Not simply the dumb animals of the human world, but animals that could talk, metal things, and fae-like creatures. She hoped it wouldn't be just another fae world.
Anything Else We Need to Know?:
Rabbits - nutritious and delicious!
IC (In Character) Entrance:
Minx stepped through the portal. She felt the usual wave of dizziness, as her body was shifted into a new world. At first glance, she thought she'd took a wrong turn. This wasn't a forest - it was a vast plain of sand. Then she turned around and saw the trees in the distance. Ah - that was better. She walked towards it.
As she got closer, snow became more visible and she shivered. Minx's dress was more suited to spring than to winter - a simple green dress, with short sleeves and a skirt that only reached to her knees. Luckily most of the snow only reached to her ankles, which were protected by her fur. Nonetheless it was still cold. And at the edge of the forest, a little windy.
Deciding she needed exercise to keep her warm, and feeling a bit hungry, Minx listened to the sounds of the forest. She was hoping to hear a bird or maybe a rabbit. Although she had heard that most of the creatures here were sentient, she figured there'd still be some rodents or something running about. After all, they did have to eat, right? Besides she didn't care much if she accidentally killed a sentient rodent.
She was in luck, she heard something scurrying around a nearby tree. She turned around and pounced, grabbing up a squirrel. She grinned, her teeth flashing. But the terrified squeaks the animal was making amused her. She decided to play with her food before eating it, tossing the poor critter up and down, as she absent-mindedly walked further into the forest.

Incendanx was busy sifting through the snow, hoping to find something worthwhile to sample. What is it about snow that makes the plants and insects hide...its not that cold. He soon heard what sounded like a struggling creature. Incendanx rose to his feet, standing about six feet tall, and glanced in the direction from which the sounds originated. He slowly made his way closer, standing behind a large tree as he glanced around it. A short distance away, he saw a small figure, only a little taller than himself, walking with a small squirrel in her grasp. Incendanx had never seen anyone like her before, being around mostly beast-like creatures, he couldn't help but stare. The small animal soon started squealing louder, returning Incendanx to his senses and reminding him of why he came in the first place. Well I hate to interrupt someones meal.
((Wow - I guess we're both doing short posts, sorry))
Although the squirrel's squealing was rather insistant, Minx was pretty sure she heard something else coming closer to her. As much as she enjoyed playing with the poor rodent, she was getting hungry. With her mind, she whipped it against a nearby tree, hearing a satisfy thunk as it hit and slid down into the snow.
As she bent over to retrieve the snow-covered critter, she saw a reptile's large orange head watching her from behind another tree. Minx grabbed up the dead squirrel and bit into it. Mmm rodent-sicle. Then she just held onto it, its blood running over her claws.
Minx turned and smiled at the giant lizard, licking squirrel blood from her lips, "'Ello, my little blue friend. Enjoying the view?"

((Don't worry about it, mine was actually pretty long compared to my other ones))
Incendanx thought he saw the small animal leap from her hands, but as it went into a tree, he realized that was not the case. Incendanx watched as the tall figure reached down to claim her meal and take a fresh bite into it. Incendanx had witness many killings during his raising, but couldn't help but have a small chill race down his spine as she turned towards him smiling. "Oh, I apologize," He said, bowing slightly, not noticing her remark on his color, "I didn't mean to intrude on anything."

Minx merely laughed at the orange lizard. He was different, at least in appearance, but he seemed to be like just another human. Or at least he seemed a little put off from her meal. The said meal currently flopped rather pathetically in her hand. It might've looked a little cute, its little tongue hanging out, if not for the chunk bitten out of its stomach.
"Hmm Fuzzy - what makes you think you were interrupting?" She actually didn't mind. He hadn't stopped her from killing her meal after all. And she felt he might provide some amusement. She had been wondering about the inhabitants of this forest. She wondered if he really was uncomfortable about her meal. She grinned again, showing her pointy teeth. Then she brought the squirrel back up to her mouth and bit its tongue off. Minx made a sound sort of like a purr in the back of her throat. She clearly enjoyed her meal. In fact, she did think the tongue was the best part, but she was also enjoying the thought of making someone squirm.
Casually she asked, her eyes glinting above the mangled rodent, "What's your name, fuzzy?"

Incendanx straightened back up as she laughed. "Oh," He started, "I just didn't want to keep you from your...meal." The figure before him smiled, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth, before biting into her prey once again. Incendanx shuddered slightly, "I see you enjoy savoring your food." Fuzzy? "Me?," he answered, "My name is Incendanx, what's yours?"
Sometimes, sometimes not being able to speak the truth could be annoying. Except it didn't annoy Minx really. She was used to it, but it made for awkward conversation at times. There were lots of things she could have said without this hinderance. 'That's an odd name,' 'It matches your fiery skin,' 'I creep you out, don't I?", 'My name's Minx,' But she couldn't say any of these.
Her tail swished a little and she settled for laughing at the orange reptile. It was an oddly girlish giggle. She brought her hand back down, still clutching her prey. She usually only ate a little bit at a time, but she wished she had thought to bring something to carry her leftovers in. She was getting a little cold, and still hadn't answered Incendanx's query.
"Hmmm... well Fuzzy, my name could be just about anything, couldn't it?" She cocked her head to the side, teasing. "What do you think would suit me?" She did a little twirl, so he could get a better view. Little blood dropets spattered onto the snow.
"What else lives in this world? Are they all as.. un-squeamish as you? Tiny, fuzzy, and blue?" The incongruity of the rhyme caused her to make another giggle. "I'm certainly not amused," she said with easy sarcasm, going for the bald-faced lie.

"Well," Incendanx started, "I suppose there are endless possibilites to your name." He watched as she slowly turned, then answered, "I'm terrible at names, I wouldn't even be able to make an educated guess at something like that." Incendanx grew increasingly confused at the further remarks and questions, and couldn't quite figure out the reasoning behind it. "Well, there are many different kinds of creatures here, I haven't been here long, so I'm not the best one to be asking." He then paused for a moment and stated, "I don't believe I've seen any small and fuzzy blue creatures, though I'm not sure where those descriptions are coming from."
Minx hissed, rapidly tiring of the lizard. Her tail twitched, like a whip. Dragging the words out, she said, "You are being very cooperative." She hoped that the other creatures here weren't as befuddled as he seemed to be. Sure he was rather interesting to look at. She'd never seen a giant talking lizard before. Even though she was taller than him, he was more bulky. But really, he was pretty much the same as any human in temperment and from what she could tell, not a very clever one either.
She put the hand that wasn't holding the dead squirrel on her hip. "Surely you could come up with something, Fuzzy! Did you never hear of nicknames?" She shugged. "Right native to this forest then?" A grin at his bafflement, "I'm sure there's plenty of fuzzy blue critters, if you just look hard enough."
She turned around, her tailing swaying slightly with the movement. Looking back over her shoulder at him as she walked farther into the forest, she called, "I'll just go fetch ya some, right now." She absently took another bite of the squirrel. Then she paused.
Minx was grinning wildly as she looked over her shoulder again. A small snowball fell from the tree above Incendax, aimed towards his head.
((For some reason my character has a Southern accent...
I think that name's gonna stick.))

Incendanx stood there, still confused at her way of speaking, trying to figure out what it was she was trying to convey to him. "Thank..you..?," he said slowly, noticing a slight aggitation to her voice. "Oh, not really. Where I grew up, there wasn't many nicknames used for people, they barely used their real names for that matter," he stated, hoping not to seem too odd for his lack of communications growing up. He soon dawned another confused look, "No...I'm not a native, I just recently came here." Incendanx scratched his head, "Well, I'm sure if you look hard enough your bound to find any kind of creature....even blue fuzzy ones." At this last remark, he couldn't help but grin, he was starting to enjoy whatever game she was playing with him. As she started to walk away, she turned and had a large smile on her face, but Incendanx noticed her gaze wasn't at him, but rather a bit above him. Incendanx looked up just in time to see a snowball falling from the limb above him. He quickly shot a small stream of steam from his mouth, but rather than evaporating the snowball whole as he had planned, the steam was only hot enough to merely melt it, causing the water from it to cover his face.
Snicker, snicker, giggle, "You breath water!" Minx exclaimed, unable to tell the truth even when giggling like mad. That show had just raised the lizard about 10 points in her mind. "You must just love the weather here!" she exclaimed, a nicer sarcasm.
She needed some way to keep warm, why not a snowball fight? The lizard may be a little dense. But making snowballs hardly required genius level intelligence. After all humans did it, even children. Still giggling, she hopped over to a tree with a low-hanging branch. She carefully put her half-chewed squirrel on top of the branch so it wouldn't fall down.
Moving away from that tree, she grabbed up some snow, quickly making a snowball using her claws, so that her fingers wouldn't get cold. Then she tossed it towards the lizard, with her hands this time. She wondered if he'd realise what she was doing. It was quite probable that he hadn't been around snow much. "Heads up, Fuzzy!"

Incendanx shook himself off as the lady before him commenced to laughing, obviously enjoying the scene that just took place. "Yes, the weather is quite....unpredictable." He watched as she made her way to a nearby branch, then back to the ground again and appearing to form a ball with some snow she had just scooped up. Still trying to make sense of everything, Incendanx didn't notice that she had thrown the snowball towards him, until it struck him in the chest. He stepped back a little, trying to piece together what just happened. A game? he thought, still not fully sure. He bent down slightly and got a handful of snow himself and started forming it into a ball, trying to keep heat out of his palms. "Like this?" He asked, softly tossing it towards her.
Unable to say anything to nudge him in the right direction, Minx simply laughed in what she hoped was an encouraging way. The way he had tossed the ball made it easy to avoid. She turned aside a little, her tail swaying with the motion. And the snowball poofed onto the ground. She glanced at him. Hoping that he realised the point was to avoid the snowballs.
Skipping a little, she reached her hand out and caught the trunk of a skinny tree. She spun around the tree, then as she was facing him again, she leaned over sideways. She attempted to spray him with the snow, but she was a bit too far away for it to work.
Minx smiled easily and sort of tumbled into the snow. Then she realised that it was too cold for that and leapt up. Shivering and brushing the wet stuff off herself. Her tail wrapped close to her body bristling. Then she grinned, and mentally sent a puff of snow up at Incendanx's face. She didn't want to be the only one embarassed in this situation.

((Neat character. I wish you luck on playing a character who can do nothing but lie. A feat you have set before you, but one that will be quite fun to play!

Incendanx watched as she simply avoided the snowball. Incendanx had never played many games before, and a game where you try to pelt each other with snowballs was odd to him. He was kinda catching on to what he thought to be the basics of the game. He watched as she gracefully twirled around a nearby tree, bending it slightly causing the pile up of snow to fall off. After witnessing her fall into the snow and then pop back up suddenly, caused Incendanx to smile and giggle slightly. Though he was watching her hands closely, anticipating another throw, he still didn't notice the small flurry of snow that hit his face. He shook it off and laughed a little," I guess that would make two for you. So," he continued, while reaching down with both hands to form two small snowballs," If I get you with both of these, then we would be even, correct?" While he asked this, he lowered his tail behind him and rolled another one with it, hiding it behind his back. He then threw the two snow balls towards her, the second one a few seconds after the first. When the second snowball got halfway to its target, he quickly threw the one in his tail from around his side.
Ooh he got it. She didn't consider it a contest, but Minx considered their abilities and giggled. She murmured, "We're even alright," not in reply to the lizard's question, but thinking of her own advantage. She saw the snowballs coming, but was only able to sidestep the first one - the second one caught her on the side. It left a bit of snow on the side of her dress. As she brushed that off, the tail-launched one caught her in the chest.
She thought, 'You're pretty quick,' but didn't say it out loud. Her grin was wider now. She crouched down, going through the motions of making a snowball, but keeping her eyes up. She pushed more snow off the overhanging branches, letting gravity do most of the work.
Then she sprung up and ran zig-zaggy in the opposite direction. Gleeful at the exercise, and actually feeling a little warm from the mental and physical exertion. Perhaps it was a bit of a cheat, telekinesis, but it felt natural to her and exhilirating to be using her talents so freely. There was something about a snowball fight to bring out the child in you.

Incendanx smiled at seeing two of his snowballs hit their target, He had planned on only the unknown one hitting. He watched as she started to prepare another one, and leaned down as well. His attention was then drawn above him as a shower of snow fell from above. He quickly rolled out of the way, avoiding the center of the blanket, but still getting covered by its outer edges. He rose to his feet and shook the snow from his body. As he rose, she darted away, rather quickly, but slow enough to show that the game was still on. Incendanx soon followed her, making sure to keep his distance. A short distance ahead, he saw a limb directly above the path they were traveling down. He quickly shot a small fireball from his hand towards the edge of the limb, hoping to either knock the snow loose from it, or snap the whole limb itself.
Fire and snow usually don't go well together, whatever the lizard's plan what happened was a nice sheet of water pouring onto a befuddled fae girl. That certainly didn't help her get any warmer. She looked back at Incendanx pouting and shivering. Her tail was down in the snow. Her dress was plastered to her skin. She did not look happy.
She made a decision and shifted. It was a quick change. One second there was a soggy elf-girl, the next there was a small, skinny rodent. This mink, not very happy at having been drenched, scampered towards the lizard. Minx wasn't sure what she was planning to do, but she was going to get revenge. Even if it meant biting his scaly orange toes.
((Sorry it's so short))
