Name:
Incendanx

Species:
Salamando

Gender:
Male

Alliance:
Good

Age:
21

Human Age Equivalency:
21

Mature Adult at Age:
25

Appearance:
Incendanx’s form is that of an upright lizard, standing six feet tall, from his feet to the tip of his rounded nose. His tail original's length is four feet long. He has smooth orange scales covering his body. His front midsection is a lighter orange and he has a red line, about two inches across, running from the tip of his tail, along his back, to a point between his emerald green eyes.

Personality:
Incendanx has a calm, peaceful nature. He is very easy going and difficult to anger. He is very open to new people, viewing everyone as a friend until their intentions arise. The only time he his serious is when he is fighting an enemy. He tries to help out anyone who is in need. He hopes to see an end to all the conflict in the world.

Abilities:
Store Energy
Incendanx is able to store energy from the sun or any other heat source. He is also able to recycle energy he uses, an ability all Salamandos have that allows them to absorb the excess energy they release in their attacks. All Salamandos are limited on how much energy they can store based on characteristics such as age, size, and strength, though its hard to determine the amount due to them constantly recharging through either their surroundings or even their own attacks.

Tail
Incendanx is able to extend and retract his tail, controlling all its movements. He can also grow a new one if damaged or removed.

Fire
Incendanx is able to convert the energy in his body into fire. The fire exits his body from his mouth, palms and tail. The fire from his palms forms fireballs, which he can throw a short to moderate distance, or he can encase his fists in fire to aid in fighting. The fire from his mouth comes out in a stream or a larger fireball. The stream sent from his mouth can go almost any straight distance, but is mainly used in close to medium range due to its constant drain of energy and lack of a way to recycle any of it. He is able to send fireballs from his mouth at quick speeds, but at somewhat limited range. He is able to apply steam to the ball for added distance and impact, but it takes a bit more time to convert energy into steam for the launch, though the steam is recycled, making it take about the same amount of energy overall. The fire from his tail only encases it. When he is enraged fire comes out every opening, covering his body in flames.

Disadvantages:
Store Energy
Incendanx is not able to store energy well in cold temperatures or at night. He is only able to recycle the energy that is in contact or close proximity to himself.

Tail
Incendanx’s tail is soft and severed easily. He can't regenerate his tail instantaneously.

Fire
The strength and amount of flames Incendanx is able to make is determined on how much energy he has stored at the time. Using the fire drains his energy and can cause him to pass out if he uses up too much. Any fire sent from his body has little to no way of being recycled. *covering any part of his body in fire doesn't drain his energy due to him recycling it*

Family:
Salamandos don't have a specific mom or dad, they are hatched into a group of their bloodline and raised by the female of that group until they turn ten in which they begin early stages of training. Incendanx is not on good terms with his relatives.

History:
Salamandos are natural born fighters, and Incendanx’s group was known as one of the strongest gathering of Salamandos, often being hired by other species to assist in different wars and squirmishes. As Incendanx grew older, he started developing a pacifist attitude. This angered the leaders of his group, but was dismissed thinking that he was just young and would soon change his ways. As he got older he favored a more peaceful life, but had to hide his beliefs from the others as to not cause any problems.

It wasn't until Incendanx met the middle-aged Pacifendo, that he learned that in order to achieve peace, you must fight for it, but know when the appropriate time for fighting is. Incendanx left his group and went to live and train with Pacifendo and his group consisting mostly of Salamandos, but also a few members of other species. Soon after Incendanx turned nineteen, his old group attacked the group. They killed everyone but spared Incendanx, insisting that he return with them. He reluctantly followed them, but escaped when the opportunity arose.

Anything Else We Need to Know?:
Sorry most my entries are short, I'm new to this and still learning how to better detail things.

IC (In Character) Entrance:
Incendanx continued his trip through the barren wasteland, enjoying the blaring sun on his back. He had lost count of how long he had been there, but he had enjoyed every moment of it. He had never been in such a heat-rich environment, with its near-constant sunlight and its landscape covered with hot sands and warm rocks. Ahead of him was the outline of an approaching forest. He was both excited about this new area and upset at having to leave this sun stricken paradise. As he got closer, he could feel a cool breeze coming from the wooded area. Confident that he has stored enough energy, he stepped foot onto the lush carpet of grass before him. He continued into the tree line searching for any signs of life.

((OOC: Hey there. And nothing wrong with short posts; 'brevity is the soul of wit' and all that. I tend to yammer on a bit, myself. ... Like now, for instance. :DD ))

Incendanx didn't have far to go. Just a few minutes' walk from where the newcomer entered the forest, a donkey in ripped blue jeans was snoozing on his side. He lay in a patch of sunlight under a tree, with his back to Incendanx. There was some snow in the area, but little of it near the dreamer. This relative warmth was precisely why he had chosen that spot for a rest. 'Huh. Grass. And sunlight. In winter. ... Well, a novelty like this deserves a celebration. I'll just lie down a few seconds...' Funny how 'a few seconds' can turn into an hour-and-a-half of napping.

Of course, while the individual's mind was off in dreamland, his body was a little more aware. At each of the salamando's footsteps, the donkey's ears twitched up and down, making some effort to catch the sound. They did this for any little sound in the area, which usually made nodding off rather tricky for their owner. Aside from that, his tail was twitching a bit, and his sleep seemed even from the back to be a restless one. "Mnh... Nooooo..." he groaned softly, "No cabbagggge..." The creature rolled over in his sleep, pointing his muzzle in Incendanx's direction, and giving his ears an even easier job of listening. Enough to rouse the creature, apparently.

His eyes gradually opened themselves to a squint, though not enough to really see anything. "Damn ears... Probably heard a squirrel. So much for a nice rest..." he mumbled, seriously considering rolling over and going back to sleep.

Shortly after Incendanx entered the forest, he came upon a figure under a tree. Curious to what it was, he started towards it. As he got closer, the figure turned towards him and Incendanx saw that it was a donkey-like creature. It mumbled something, but he couldn't quite figure out what he was saying. "Excuse me sir," Incendanx called out.

((OOC: No worries. Just keep writing, and you'll get closer to where you want to be soon enough))

'... No way I'm getting back to sleep. Eh, better get up...' The donkey had begun to pull himself into a sitting position with his forehooves, still squinting into the day. He was just about there when Incendanx called to him. His ears shot up, and he fully expected to give a little sound of surprise. He just didn't expect the sound to be a bray. The donkey then did three things more-or-less at once: his eyes opened wide in horror, his ears shot back against his head, and he brought his front hooves to his mouth. Unfortunately, the last of these left his upper body without much support. So the next thing he did was fall down, back and to the side, with a wumph.

"Oof!" He lay there a moment, taking deep breaths and trying to slow his heartrate. 'C'mon. It's going to be fine. Just clear your throat and... Say 'hello.' Right, there's company. And he just saw that whole thing. ... Spectacular.' His tail swished in annoyance, and he wished it wouldn't. Though he was glad he'd missed falling on it by a few inches. As the donkey began to pull himself up again, he gave the salamando an embarrassed little smile. He cleared his throat and said, a slight quaver in his voice, "Eheh... Sorry about that. Top of the morni-- Err, afternoon, to you."

Incendanx watched as the creature let out a strange sound and suddenly lose its balance as it rose its arms up. Poor guy, he thought. Must be one of those experiments to turn animals into humans. The creature caused Incendanx to jump a little when he got back up and started speaking to him. "Afternoon sir," he stammered a bit, realizing the guy before him was an intelligent being, "I was wondering who you were and where I am."

The donkey's smile faded a moment at the stammering; it hadn't been the first time someone had been surprised to hear him speak. 'And really, what do you expect? You're not even upright! What would you think?' Still, though it stung a bit, he decided not to focus on it and the smile returned. 'Eh, better to get that fun moment out of the way early. At least I probably won't be making that noise for a while, now.' Incidentally, had Incendanx said the first thing that came to mind, he would have gotten to witness the recent waker giving a roll of his eyes and a little chuckle; the salamando essentially had things the wrong way around.

Once the donkey pushed himself into a sitting position, it was easy enough to rise up and stand on his hind legs. 'Much better.' He was mostly calmed down, and his ears resumed their upright position. He stretched a little as he answered the questions. "Ah, gotcha. My name's Devon. And we're both currently in-- Oh." He stopped his stretch and his ears perked up high. He seemed to consider something a moment. 'Well, after that display, he probably already knows you're weird. And you did plan on trying it...' Devon's grin turned sheepish, as his ears drooped slightly. "Sorry, humor me, would ya?"

He approached the newcomer and considered the mechanics of trying the Nism greeting he'd learned. Devon put his right hoof gently on Incendanx's chest. With his left arm, he pushed the salamando's right arm closer, trying to get the right hand to his own furry chest, and hoping the guy got the message. He was failing to keep a straight face, and felt more than a little silly, but plowed ahead. The ex-human said, "Heart and Breath and Welcome, along with Warmth." A moment later, his ears shot up again, along with a tail twitch. "D'oh. I mean..." A cough. "Heart and Breath and Warmth, along with Welcome. There." He then tried to maneuver both scaly hands together with his hooves, held them a moment, nodded, and released. Then realized the question was unanswered. "Err, welcome to Deep Forest," he said hurriedly. Another awkward cough. "So, who would you be?"

Incendanx listened intentively as the donkey started his introduction, but was curious when he suddenly stopped. As he started approaching him, Incendanx watched to see what would happen. Devon, who he just learned was his name, placed his hoof on his chest and seemed to be trying to position Incendanx's hand. He placed it on Devon's chest, hoping he was doing it correctly. He listened as Devon said, or attempted to say, a form of greeting. He smiled as he released his hands and answered, "My name is Incendanx, it's a pleasure to meet you Devon."

Devon nodded, glad that the... interesting crack at the greeting was out of the way. He smiled. "Likewise. Incendanx?" He said it in a probing manner, fishing for confirmation that he was correctly pronouncing the unfamiliar name; he'd long ago gotten sick of people calling him "Dev-AWN" instead of "DEV-in." And now that 'AWN' sounded a bit too much like him, mid-bray, he had even more reason to hate the sound of it.

"So, err... Thanks for playing along, Devon said, rubbing the back of his neck, next to the mane so as not to ruffle it, with a hoof. It occurred to him he hadn't taken a very careful look at the individual before. Which, given his usual 'walking on eggshells' approach (a side-note: it's especially tricky with hooves), was surprising. 'Huh. Guess I'm not quite awake, yet. Or I'm really getting used to this place.' Not that Incen was inherently dangerous-looking, but... Well, the guy was a giant lizard; the general human response is to freak out a little bit. And that would be before the firepower capacity factored in, not that Devon knew of it. "So, what brings you all the way here?"

Incendanx smiled at Devon getting his name right at the first try. "Thats correct, just how its spelt", he proclaimed. (((OOC:im not exactly sure how to pronouce it, its a mixture of latin words.))) He noticed Devon taking a good look at him and realized that lizards probably don't normally walk around on their hind legs, or stand six feet tall. "Well, I was raised with a bunch of salamandos that i just couldn't see eye to eye with, so I left them only to be tracked down and forced to return. But thankfully a opportunity arose and I escaped once again. Im not sure how i came across the wasteland, but it led me to this forest," Incendanx replied.

Devon smiled at having hit the pronunciation correctly, and swished his tail. The amount of control he had over speech had been a pleasant surprise, once he actually thought about it. His lips were a bit more rubbery than human ones and his tongue quite a bit longer, to say nothing of what might have changed in his throat, or the subtle effect his differently shaped teeth might be having. Yet -- with the obvious exception -- he seemed able to manipulate them to speak just as well as when he was human, with no trace of a speech impediment, or hoarse, braying tone of voice. Actually, not that he'd cared enough to notice, his voice actually sounded more pleasant than his old one. 'I guess that's fae magic for you.' And how.

Devon nodded as Incen gave the abridged version of his life story. "Ah, I see. ... Sounds like you've had some rough times." He gave a sympathetic frown. "Sorry things didn't work out with your old group. The people here seem pretty nice, at least. Though some are a little on the screwy side. And crossing the wasteland? I hear that thing is huge!" He gave a little smile, and wondered idly how well his own body would have made the trip. "You must be exhausted."

Incendanx was a little surprized when he heard Devon speak as if he has never been through the wasteland. He had figured that all the creatures here passed through at some point in time or another. "So you've never been to the wasteland?" he asked. "Oh, sorry," he continued, "my journey..well, it wasn't as harsh as it would seem, I rather enjoyed my little stroll. Well, there was a lack of food along the way, but I managed to find what I needed when it came up." "So how did you end up here? Are you a native of this area?" Incendanx inquired.

Devon opened his mouth to answer the first question, but closed it again as Incen changed tracks. He gave the lizard a nod and listened to his description of the journey. "Ah, I see. Well, I'm glad it wasn't as bad as I'd heard." And not only for the salamando's well-being; Devon wondered if he'd ever have to head out there himself for great lengths of time. Now that he thought about it, he might not have such a hard time, either. As far as crossing the desert was concerned, he'd sorta hit the jackpot for species. He didn't need to eat much -- and could eat the scrub grass, more to the point -- or drink much, he had stamina to spare for long-distance travel, and he'd actually been fairly comfy during his few trips out to the wastes. It was always nice to get a reminder that, for all the qualms he had with it, his new form wasn't all bad.

Then came Incen's next question. It also meant Devon had a decision to make about whether to tell the whole story about his condition. At the moment, of course; he didn't plan to keep it a secret from everyone forever. 'But for now... Eh, why get into it?' Still, if the salamando was attentive and good at reading non-reptilian body language, he might have picked up on some things. Specifically Devon's smile and ears, respectively smaller and drooping a little. "Ah. No, I definitely wasn't born here. I actually have been out into those wastes; it was kinda where I... Well, dropped in, actually. Magic," he said this last word with a kind of 'what are ya gonna do' shrug, and a grin. "But, like I said, everyone here is nice. Really helped me get used to the place," -- 'Among other things,' he added to himself.

"Well, I think the only reason it was so simple for me is because me species thrives in warm environment, though I can see how other species would have a problem," Incendanx stated. At this time he took a good look at Devon, he had no knowledge of any donkey creatures, so he wasn't sure what advantages or disadvantages he would have. Hearing Devon mention that he had been there before made him believe that his body was well suited for that kind of area. At hearing him mention magic, Incendanx decided that was probably as deep as they would go into it. He had experienced magic users before and knew of the various effects they could do. There was also the always present thought of whether or not the Salamando's abilities were a form of magic or not.

Devond nodded at Incen's reasoning. "Right. I think..." He paused a moment, not fully comfortable with saying, "my species," yet. "Donkeys have a fairly easy time out there, too." He rubbed the back of his neck with a hoof again. "Wish I knew why..." While he was at it, he also wondered why Incen's kind did well in the wastelands, and began to look the salamando over, as though hoping the answer would jump out. 'He would be coldblooded, right? Doesn't that mean he needs some temperature variety to stay comfy? And I think deserts get kinda cold when the sun goes down. ... Then again, there are gila monsters and komodo dragons, so...'

After a few moments, Devon realized he might have been a bit too obvious in his staring, and made an effort to appear otherwise. 'Yeah, he'll never buy it.' The donkey wondered if this might change under the smokescreen of changing the subject. "Uh, so. Now that you're here... What's your next step?"

Incendanx watched as Devon observed him questionally. He wondered what kinds of thoughts were going through his head. It had been awhile since he had any contact with other creatures and was hoping that he didn't make a wrong impression. His thoughts were interupted when Devon suddenly questioned him. "Well, he answered, I haven't really given it much thought, I suppose I'll just check this area out and see what it has to offer."

Devon gave a nod, still feeling a bit guilty for the staring, as his ears made plain. "Good plan. The best way to get to know the Forest is to get out there and see it." It was certainly how the ex-human had visited a fair number of places in the area. ... Not that he could describe how to get there or find his way back; where sense of direction was concerned, he very nearly reached the level of Ryoga Hibiki. Actually, he had a few other things in common with the anime character, among them being far stronger than he looked, resembling a barnyard animal when his curse was in effect ('i.e. by default. At least I don't have to fear the rain...'), and having a rather humble and polite personality.

The last of these characteristics prompted Devon to smile and add, "If you'd like some company, I'm not really doing anything right now. Let me know if you have any questions, too."

After hearing Devon's last remark, Incendanx smiled at the thought of having someone friendly around. "That would be wonderful", he replied, "It's been quite awhile since I've had anyone to socialize with." Incendanx started pondering about the area around him and his current situation. What kind of creatures ((would people be a correct term, or is it too humanish?)) will I come across? Will they be friendly or threatening? Will the environment meet my need for energy? Will they be able to track me here? Will I find even greater threats then those after me? Incendanx suddenly snapped out of his daze and glanced at Devon. "So where should we go from here?" he inquired smiling.

((I usually go with 'people' and Devon does, too, but I think it's your call))

Devon chuckled and nodded at Incen's response. "Yeah, I don't think the wastes are well-known for that. Here's hoping I make for better conversation." He gave a smile and then noticed the lizard seemed to be thinking about something. 'Ah. Well, I did about the same thing a second ago. I wonder if he's thinking about me, or something else...?'

Regardless, Devon felt a yawn coming on, and so politely turned his head from the salamando, who got a good look of the donkey's head in profile. Jaw opening wide, eyes closing, ears going back... and more of a hint of a bray to the sound. Which sent the eyes snapping open and the head shaking ever so slightly in surprise. 'Beh! Ah, well. There had to still be something to catch me off-guard.' Devon got back to what might pass for 'composed' in time for the return of Incen's attention.

He returned a smile, albeit a tad more sheepishly, and answered, "Eheh... I'm afraid I can't suggest much more than 'further in.' I've been in the habit of just wandering the Forest, and checking out anything I hear. I... don't have the best handle on the layout, yet. So, unless you've got a special direction in mind, this one," Devon said, gesturing with his head in the direction Incen had been walking, "is as good as any. Unless we run into someone who knows what they're doing, anyway."

Incendanx was a little upset about Devon not knowing the area, but soon got excited about the thought of both of them being able to explore new areas. Incendanx looked towards the direction in which Devon motioned. He then glanced in the surrounding directions, noticing that they all looked similar. "Well, he started, I suppose that direction would be as good as any other." Incendanx tilted his head to the side, suddenly noticing the snow covering many spots of the ground. Uh oh, this could be trouble. "Umm...is there more snow deeper in, or is it clearer ahead?" Incendanx asked, trying not to sound worried.

At Incen's apparent disappointment, Devon kept the smile going, though the ears started drooping a bit. 'Come on. You can't actually have expected him to be glad you couldn't tell him much of anything about the Forest!' Although, he observed, that seemed to be exactly what happened. '... Huh. Well, I'll take it.' Alongside a stronger smile, back up the ears went. 'But really, could those things just stop moving for a little bit? Would that be asking too much?' Given how often he thought such things... Yes.

At the new guy's head tilting, Devon also leaned his head to one side. "Hmm?" In the reptile's question, the donkey thought he heard a note of... trepidation? He frowned a little. "Would that be a problem?" he asked. And then gave himself a light tap on the forehead with a hoof; 'Not quite a facepalm, but eh.' He flashed a brief smile before returning to the frown and said, almost more to himself at first, "Right, that makes sense; people who like the desert heat probably wouldn't like the snow... Umm... Well, it... depends." A shrug. "I've only been here around a week, but this is the warmest I've felt in this neck of the woods. So, maybe there won't be as much as I remember, but... Yeah, I think there's probably more snow ahead." The frown gave way to a smile as the ex-human continued. "But further than that, there are some stretches that made me think spring had come early. Yeah, it's weird, I know. Anyway, just push through the snowy places, and I think things should be fine."
