And so, one thing leads to another ...

Somehow Windra'd landed herself on a land mine and got blown a couple of feet into the air. Her landing many kilometers from the scene of the zombie horde was impressive, and her survival nothing short of miraculous. After letting loose enough curses to make a truck driver blush, one hand scoped around for her weapon ... only to find a remote.

Yep. A remote.

Like a TV remote.

"Lol wtf?" Half-dazed and completely bumblefudged (not that the mild concussion helped any), she started jamming on the buttons.

Channel Up

This was kinda weird ... in a BAMF sort of way. Scarlet looked around cluelessly, mouth agape and pearly whites showing bright in the various flares igniting the surrounding houses. Had her lungs been sensitive to ... well ... anything, she'd back hacking up a storm right now because of the noxious fumes floating all over the place: debris from the collapsed buildings. Scarlet could have sworn that a few moments ago she'd not been so far from comrades ... There were others, and stuff! Survivors and zombies and people to blow up!

But here ...

It was just a stunned, eerie silence.

No moans.
No roars.
No booms.

Confused by her predicament, Scarlet turned her snout towards the sky and took a whiff. What came back to her was the stench of petrol, dew, homeless people and coffee. And cabs. Definitely cabs. The V-ACT spun in her place for a moment, took another sniff, then sighed deeply. A second passed and she burst into a cackling laugh. Of course! This was ... but how?! Moments ago she was somewhere in Twilight City. This place was similar in structure, but different in the fact that there was absolutely no sign of zombie activity ... anywhere! By some strange twist of fate, Scarlet was transferred from Twilight ... to New York City. In the dead of night. With nobody around.

Wait, she took that back. Somewhere in the flames that boiled up from destroyed buildings - Scarlet could see by heat signatures that they were slashed apart by something massive - the Juggernaut could hear screams. Sirens sounded in the distance. And there was another thing. Far off, beyond the sirens but piercingly loud, was a bellowing roar.

"Kitty?"

Reverse

Ashowan vaguely remembered how everything around her kind of froze in place. THe rocks stopped falling and the monster that attacked them stiffened as if something jammed a stick up its - and how everything suddenly slipped back. Not back as in ... literally, physically back. Back as in ... goin in reverse. The rocks that fell flew back into the ceiling. The monster walked himself out of the room. And Ashowan found herself going backwards down the stairs and out of the ShinRa building without her being able to control or stop herself.

So many images flashed before her at such a dizzying cycling speed that it almost made her vomit. ShinRa, the zombies, the helicopter crash, Twilight City ...

Then there was a bright white flash!

By the time her vision came flying back to her, Ashowan opened her eyes to find that she was standing in the middle of ... a hospital lobby? Yep! There were nurses and doctors and surgeons running all over the place. Life! For once ... The place was well lit and sterile looking; stable. Ashowan turned around and found herself peering into the emergency room lobby. People were sitting in there holding their arms or putting pressure on their legs or huddling up against a loved one. All of them appeared to be badly wounded. All of them were bleeding. And most of them were bitten. Some scratched.

Yet there were no signs of zombies. "This is freaky," Ashowan mumbled aloud, glancing about.

She searched for a television set - maybe there would be something on the news. People were crowded around the only one nearby ad she couldn't see anything from where she was, so the reaper scooted forward to try and get a better look.

A nurse grabbed at her arm. Ashowan twisted about to look at her. "Huh?"

"Doctor, Mr. Kilmer is coding!"

Doctor ... ? Ashowan now glanced down at herself for the first time since being 'rewinded'. She was dressed in navy blue scrubs and donned in a white lab coat, all of which was splattered with speckles of blood. Her brown hair was as frizzy as ever, but a small band of black covered her right eye. There was an ID badge on her chest ... 'Dr. Nay'?

"Doctor, c'mon!"

Before she could protest, the half-dragon found herself being pulled into the direction of the dying patient. Ashowan briefly wondered why they weren't freaking out about her tail when she realized it wasn't there. Neither were her talons: they'd been replaced with black boots.

"This is getting weirder and weirder ... "

Hours later, she would begin to wonder why the hell she never put any consideration into becoming a doctor. All of the patients who were in critical condition were transferred, under her hand, into stability. They all survived. It was amazing to save people like that.

And then she found out the hard way that, while she initially thought she'd been teleported out of the zombieverse somehow or another, she'd actually only been brought back in time to the very beginning of it. Everything started going chaotic once she'd finally caught a glimpse of the news to see reports on the outbreak spreading all along the countryside - an epidemic that brought the dead back to life. The corpses in the morgue began to break from their confines and kill the morticians. Some of the patients in the lobby turned and infected those around them ... And what was worst: Ashowan sliced herself accidentally on the arm with a scalpel trying to fend off a zed that had once been a cardiac arrest patient. The wound hadn't healed and was wrapped in gauze.

Mortal.

So here she was, hiding on the third floor of the hospital with a bunch of safe patients, doctors, nurses, and surgeons while fending off any zombie that managed to make its way up there with an IV pole and trying to figure out a way to escape without stepping foot into the living dead pool downstairs.
