Taken by surprise, Entropy was momentarily stunned after being thrown behind the rubble, but quickly came to her senses and sat up, though she remained crouching behind the cover. With the arrows raining down, it would be dangerous to peak back out now. But now Scarlet was out there under fire.

Of course, the demons were under fire too, from Scarlet's twin magnums. And they didn't have the V-ACT's resistance to damage either. Adding to the hail of bullets, Isala, having held up one hand created another ice shield above herself, raised her other hand towards the demons and sent a spray of tiny spikes of ice at them. Many of the creatures were shredded and knocked out of the sky by the projectiles flying at them, but a few actually managed to land on the platform.

At a distance, the creatures may have appeared to be succubi and incubi like Entropy, but at this proximity they looked more like a cross between a reptile and a bat, though with a humanoid body shape. Heedless of the projectiles being fired at them, the creatures continued firing their crossbows at Scarlet and Isala, while some drew swords from their waists and charged.

If anyone were to look at Entropy at that moment, they would have seen her freaking out, staring at the scene with eyes open wide in abject terror. She was right now caught between rushing out to help her companions huddling back into her hiding spot. There was something about the enemies that bothered her. Something about them seemed... familiar.

But Entropy... had to get out and fight. She was a warrior, she reminded herself. She couldn't cower in fear while her friends were in danger.

Wrapping one wing around front of herself like a shield, Entropy dashed out and ran to Scarlet's side. A few crossbow bolts actually hit that wing and stuck into it, causing the succubus to wince, but she gritted her teeth through the pain and tossed a fireball back at the remaining shooters. The ball of flame exploded in their midst, throwing their suddenly charred and torn bodies to the ground.

The ones with the swords, however, were closer than the ones who had continued shooting and weren't caught in the blast. And they were still approaching rapidly.

[OoC: Total insomniac, yus I am ... ]

---

The outward appearance of these strange fiends mattered not to the Juggernaut. It wasn't like she could see a damned thing to begin with: just blurry shapes with wings. And tails? No, maybe not. Who could tell? Maybe they were dr - naaah. Shaking her head, the V-ACT 32 cocked her magnums and filled the chambers with more regal rounds, eager to 'bust some heads'. And protect Entropy. Too bad the Winged Lady was such a chicken-livered wuss ...

Glancing back, however briefly, at the Succubus, Scarlet had to wonder why the woman insisted on coming to this dangerous place when she couldn't face down a couple of henchmen. Ah well. To each their own. Scar turned back and blew away two more. Caution or no caution, her necrotic mind though, if ya be's comin' to a place like dis, ya gotta have the cajones to be's kickin' ass, m'kay?

She wondered if Entropy read her mind or something, because suddenly the silver-skinned thing launched from her hiding spot, wing wrapped around her body as a biological shield (taking many arrows in the process). A fireball was launched in te direction of the approaching assaulters, burning the lot of them to crispy critters that would never be seen as good eating. Even Scarlet stuck her tongue out in distaste. Charred flesh tasted naaaaaaasty!

More critters were coming. These ones had swords. Turning her head shortly to Entropy, the V-ACT 32 glowered with eagerness. "'Bout time, girl, git yer head in the game!" it was partly a scold - she had been, after all, a S.T.A.R.S. captain. If one members slacked in her old team, it could mean death for the rest of them. Then, as an added praise to boost the woman's ever-wavering esteem issues, Scarlet continued with, "Let's be showing dem who's boss, Boss Lady!"

In an effort to conserve bullets, Scarlet tucked the magnums in their olsters and flew at the closest 'knight', claws unfurled. She aimed low, hoping to jab it in the knees and make it buckle. If they were a success, she pick up the 'knight' and swing it around like an armored mace ...

"'Bout time, girl, git yer head in the game!"

Still a bit off her guard, Entropy very nearly uttered an apology in response. But then, that wasn't really what Scarlet was looking for, was it? Apologizing wouldn't fix anything.

"Let's be showing dem who's boss, Boss Lady!"

Scarlet flew off after the enemy fighters, and Entropy followed her lead, bringing out her own claws to tear into them. A bunch of kerns, hardly knights. Why should she be afraid of them?

Scarlet jabbed one in the knees, then grabbed it up and began slinging it around at the others, hitting a few and knocking them flat. Entropy, meanwhile, dashed straight at one as it charged her with its sword raised. The sword came down for a slash, but Entropy, rather than even bother with any defense, just raked her claw through its stomach. By the time the creature's sword hit its target, the strength had left its arm and the blade didn't even break Entropy's skin.

Before the body fell, Entropy kicked it into a second one, then charged at a third. But then, as she glanced into the monster's eyes, another wave of fear suddenly overtook her, and she found herself falling back and scampering away before she even knew it. The demons were pursuing her too, and soon stood over her with swords raised, ready to carve her up. Her heart pounding and her mind racing with panic and confusion, all she could do was close her eyes and curl up into a ball. A defense like that wasn't going to do her much good.

The change in Entropy's demeanor had been so sudden. Going straight from being ready to kill these creatures to being terrified of them like they were fear itself. It may really have all seemed fairly... unnatural.

But luckily, Isala had another spell prepared just at that moment, almost as if she had been expecting what had happened. The snow queen tossed an orb of ice into the midst of the monsters, and as it hovered over Entropy's chest, a flurry of icy spikes began shooting out of it, impaling the succubus' attackers one-by-one. Unfortunately, they weren't all impaled, and the few survivors quickly recovered themselves. Racing against time, Isala began chanting another spell, but time wasn't something the now-defenseless succubus appeared to have.

Once again! The Winged Lady was freezing up again, and it got Scarlet frustrated to the point of jabbing her claws through the neck of one of the demons. She grinned at the satisfying wet crunch that popped from the wound and removed her hand, dripping with blood, with a smirk set upon her face. She was almost eager to lick the stuff off her claws, judging that it was good blood and shouldn't go to waste coagulating in the sun (even though she had nothing against dried, dead blood), but her thoughts were cut short and she drifted hastily back to reality upon seeing Entropy crumble again. Isala was there to save her this time, sending out an orb of ice that quickly fired projectiles into the approaching winged monsters.

Not all of them went down, however. Taking a gander at her bloodied claw and licking some of the crimson stuff off (the tang of metal and salt), she spun on a dime and charged into those who were remaining. It wasn't her claws that did the work this time, however. Her tongue lashed from her jaws, the fine tip slathered with saliva and rocketing towards the nearest enemy, Towards its mouth, which was open. The tongue slipped through, impaling the head on the other side ... and Scarlet's protrusion proceeded to wrap around the extent of the skull like a boa, crushing it under the pressure. Juggernaut withdrew the biological weapon and glared at Entropy, lips thin and demeanor rough and tough. Scarlet was a leader for the S.T.A.R.S. ... a Captain. And she'd be damned if one of her 'men' (or 'women') slouched off on the job!

"How d'ya expect ta survive if ya keep curling up like a fetus every time danger be's rollin' dis way?" she called, voice sturdy - more like a commander than anything else. For the period of time, her insanity seemed to have dissolved. In its place was a mad amount of control. Sure, Scar could let herself go wild ... but she would constantly look out for her teammates, and put them in line if she had to! "Gather up yer cajones and let's roll!"

Claws out, she ripped into the winged beasts still living, intent on destroying as many as she could in as little time possible.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

Once the creatures that had been advancing on her went down, Entropy opened one of her eyes slightly and peeked out. Though there was no more threat present for the moment, her heart was still racing.

"How d'ya expect ta survive if ya keep curling up like a fetus every time danger be's rollin' dis way? Gather up yer cajones and let's roll!"

After scolding Entropy again, Scarlet went back to slaughtering the attacking demons. The succubus wanted to get up and join her, and she knew Scarlet was right. But she was still gripped by fear, and she had no idea why. These bat-things weren't even a true threat at all. Even by herself, she could have slaughtered them all, or should have been able to at least. But just looking at them filled her with so much dread, Entropy's strength seemed to dwindle away to nothing.

Isala continued to chant the spell she had hoped to save Entropy with, but now that Scarlet had done that, she redirected it towards the remaining enemies. While a few more of the demons fell to Scarlet's claws, Isala finished the last few lines of her chant. In front of her, several small spinning blades of ice appeared and shot towards the enemies shredding through the few that still remained alive.

Entropy was back on her feet now, but still trembling even though there were no more enemies nearby left alive at all. She was apparently ashamed of this, as she wasn't able to look either Scarlet or Isala in the eyes, her stare seeming to be affixed to her feet.

"That wasn't like you at all, Entropy," Isala said. At first her gaze and her voice were harsh. But then she seemed to grow puzzled. "Not like you at all..."

Walking up to Entropy, Isala put a hand on the succubus' shoulder. At that, Entropy managed to look the snow queen in the face, but couldn't tell if she should feel comforted or confused. Isala's face was still as emotionless as ever, but this seemed to be a clear attempt to comfort her.

"There may be something to this," the snow queen said. "I haven't known you to be a coward."

Then, after a bit of concentration, a thought came to Isala's mind.

"Of the seven sins, fear was Wrathmont's domain," she thought aloud. "And Krayden was..."

"The... Darklord of Omen..." Entropy finished for her.

Isala gave a nod.

"Perhaps we should return to the castle," Isala suggested, now looking at Scarlet. "We will need to reach the Soul Prison before Wrathmont arrives. And there will be no safety out here, in any case."

"Perhaps we should return to the castle," Isala said after saying that there might be something to Entropy's cowardice. "We will need to reach the Soul Prison before Wrathmont arrives. And there will be no safety out here, in any case.'

Nodding numbly, the V-ACT 32 trailed after the duo, blinking. Her head was cocked, as per usual. But thoughts were running through her head. Who in the bleeding fuck was Krayden, and what did he have to do with the Winged Lady suddenly becoming a coddling infant sucking her own thumb out of fear? Juggernaut rubbed her scalp, mentally berating herself for not being able to clear the fog taking over her conscious. None of this made sense. Did she miss something while here in this otherworld? Probably. She was more intent on destroying the fogies.

"Wish Nay be's here," she grumbled to herself. "She was always good wit' analytical shit like dis." Chasing after Entropy, she called in a voice just loud enough for them to hear: "Oy, what be's goin' on, and what's in da Soul Prison dat we need?" Combine her speech with the fact that she was licking the blood from her claws, and much of the speech came out slightly muffled.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

Isala pulled Entropy along, and didn't stop to answer Scarlet's questions until they were back inside. The entrance hall was empty at this point, so the snow queen and the succubus took it upon themselves to push the massive gate closed and bar it shut. Up ahead, the audience chamber had already grown quiet, but Isala directed the other two away from it and down a side passage that had been guarded earlier.

"The Soul Prison itself is what's important," Entropy finally said. "That's what Wrathmont is here for. He's already got the one in Felcaer, and a few smaller ones too. This is the biggest one there is, though, and once he has it... things are just going to turn into a mess."

"To put it lightly," Isala interjected. "Of course, Entropy went into hiding back before this whole thing got started, but most of us think it has been a mess since the day Rekka and his rebels freed Wrathmont from his ancient seal."

Entropy shrugged.

"It'll just get to be more of a mess if he gets this one," Entropy replied. "So we just have to stop him from getting this thing. Won't be easy, but... we'll at least have to get there before he does if we're going to have any chance at all."

They'd pulled into the entrance hall again and the Winged Lady and Snow Queen took the opportunity to shut the door. Scarlet lent a hand where possible, squeezing in beside Isala to add her own brutal strength to the mix until the thing was closed and locked. Beyond was the audience chamber, but it had grown deathly quiet. Juggernaut mused silently to herself how many bodies were probably in there, lying on the floor or strung up against the walls, bleeding, painting the room in red ... Isala spoiled her fun, however, by leading them off to another direction.

Listening to their explanation, Scarlet found herself a little muddled. She had no idea, of course, what a Soul Prison was, but instead of asking she decided it would be best to wait for the moment. She'd prolly find out with given time - after all, they were heading tot he Soul Prison now! ... Oh well, screw it! "And a Soul Prison is ... ?" A frown creased her face as she strode up to be at the duos sides, claws flexing au natural, tensed and ready to maim. "I don't be's supposing dat d'ere's a quicker way ta get d'ere?"

(OOC: Sorry if this isn't too great, but I've taken too long to make this post already.)

"And a Soul Prison is ... ?" Scarlet asked, apparently not meaning to wait and see for herself. "I don't be's supposing dat d'ere's a quicker way ta get d'ere?"

"I've never actually been inside the chamber that holds it," Isala informed the V-ACT. "So I won't be able to create a portal to take us to it. I am afraid this is the fastest way available to us."

"I haven't seen it either," Entropy added. "I wasn't... given very much free reign the last time I was here."

Since Scarlet had asked about it, though, the succubus would tell her what she knew.

"But what the Soul Prisons are is a set of ancient artifacts that were made to hold the souls of the creatures that served Wrathmont in ancient times before he was sealed away. Really, there's millions of souls locked away in just the smallest ones. The big ones like the one he's after now could very well hold the majority of all the souls in this universe."

"Fortunately for us, he cannot free all the souls at once from one even if he acquires it," Isala said. "That is our one small blessing. But those he does free become his Silence Guard, his army of ghostly warriors who have so far gone undefeated by our side. We have few means of even damaging them. We are fortunate that they were not what attacked us when we stepped outside a minute ago."

Up ahead, four guards were proceeding down another hallway that crossed the current one when a fifth demon, this one cloaked like a wizard, approached them. The four warrior demons gave a salute.

"Orders from the Princes," the wizard announced. "The castle interior has been compromised. All units are to be portaled to the Soul Prison Chamber to hold the enemy there."

As the wizard proceeded to recite some incantations, Isala started forward.

"It appears that we have that shortcut you wanted," she said to Scarlet.

The portal appeared in the hallway, and the guards started through. At the same moment, Isala and Entropy stepped forward.

"Might we make use of this portal as well?" the Snow Queen asked.

In response, the wizard merely gave a nod. Immediately, Isala ushered Entropy through, then gestured for Scarlet to go through as well. And just a second after the succubus had disappeared, the ring of metal and shouts of battle began to draw close again, apparently having reached one of the nearby corridors.

Scarlet blinked at the two, pausing in her steps so that she was a little behind them, watching their backs move farther and farther away. While her brain tried to wrap around the explanation, a slow wave of comprehension drew over her like a cloud and she sighed, shaking her head, and grinned like an idiot. Ohhhh, that was it! That was it? Wow, she felt like a dolt more now than ever before. It had probably been so obvious to Entropy and Isala ... But of course, she was oblivious. Until now.

Snapping her claws together, she trailed after them until her feet fell alongside the demonesses. "I'm sure we could be's whippin' some Silent Guards, too." She flexed her right arm to show a bicep. "Cuz we're ass-kickahs an' the like!" Ego boost, much? Or perhaps she was trying to restore some confidence.

When they came to the Wizard and the Guards, Scarlet withheld a strong urge to shout, "Gandalf!" and stood firmly in place, hands clenched into fists and resting at her hips. They were gonna be teleported into the Soul Prison Chamber? Nifty! Entropy walked through the portal, and Scarlet was ushered forth. Just as she stepped across the periphery, however, noises emitted from the corridors ...

Scarlet cast a glance back, eying the Wizard before jumping off. Her voice still called over the distance: "Wizard dude comin', too?"

So. On through the portal. And now they were inside the chamber of the Soul Prison.

What was to be beheld here was not actually a room of the castle, but a massive cavern deep inside the mountain upon which the castle sat. The castle itself had been far older than Entropy, predating even Felron's known history by many aeons, but this cavern was much older still. Shaped like the antithesis of a ziggurat, the huge chamber was essentially a massive pit covered by a rocky ceiling, the edges of which were widest at the top and moved inward in steps as they approached the bottom. From the center of the ceiling, a massive column of rock reached down to the floor of the lowest level. The rock was covered with runes engraved in its surface, and continually gave off a slight glow.

"Wizard dude comin', too?"

Entropy wondered the same thing, but they had already crossed the threshold before the question could be answered.

As soon as they appeared through the portal, they were amongst a large number of guards who had been arranged at one of the top tiers of the cavern, positioned to guard the opening of one of the tunnels leading out. A few of them eyed Entropy, some apparently not happy to see a succubus taking up space in the chamber where a battle was going to break out, while others were apparently looking at her as a bit of potential pre-battle "entertainment." Entropy shrank back at first, hiding behind Isala, but then she caught herself and stepped back out of hiding to give them all a stone-faced glare. None of them appeared to pay much attention to that, though, so Isala was quick to try to usher the succubus and Scarlet along.

"It is most likely that there are still more who need to be teleported here," Isala said in answer to the question about the wizard. "Hopefully, he will return here once he finds the rest of--"

Suddenly, the ground began shaking, interrupting Isala in mid sentence.

"Earthquake?" Entropy asked.

Isala shook her head.

"This world is just a floating island in the void," she said. "There shouldn't be any tectonic activity here. There must be something... burrowing through the mountain."

And just as she finished talking, a loud crash was heard from the bottom level of the room. An instant later, several large chunks of stone came flying up from the bottom floor, sending several groups of guards scattering to keep from getting crushed. A hole had been blasted in the bottom floor of the chamber, and out from it suddenly extended a long tendril of darkness that looked much like a part of the shadowy creature that had been devastating the city outside.

"Is he here already?" Isala asked, sounding a bit nervous. But then she calmed herself. "No... it's just one tendril..."

Not that there was much relief in that. Within a few seconds, the tendril started breaking up, splitting into a swarm of smaller black orbs that streaked around the room flying erratically. Meanwhile, an odd chanting sound could be heard coming from seemingly nowhere, spoken by bodiless whispering voices that filled the entire cavern. The guards were now all readying themselves for battle, drawing their weapons and taking up defensive stances.

All at once, the orbs dropped to the floor and melted into it. Then, where they fell, bulges of stone began to rise up from the floor, spherical at first, then shaping themselves into humanoid forms. Within a matter of seconds, the room had suddenly become filled with what appeared to be an army of golems.

These warriors of stone wasted not a moment, all immediately springing into action to ferociously attack the nearest living creatures. The order that had previously existed in the room was instantly lost as frantic battle broke out, the chanting in the background becoming ever more loud and agitated.

No sooner did the darkened tendril of evil dewm enter the room by forced entry, than an army of stone golems materialized out of seemingly thin air. How did they form from the blackened orbs? Unless there was more energy within them than could be seen by the naked eye ... which seemed more likely, considering they weren't much to look at in the first place. Order hastily became disorder as battle-cries and blade-swings spread throughout. The desperation to survive the assault was like a rampant virus, attacking the immune system and downplaying any white blood cells. How long would it be before warriors turned tail and fled? Surely not everybody in here was brave enough to stand through it all. Fear came with every great war. Those who succumbed would desert, or be killed in the line of fire.

Scarlet wasn't the type who would flee out of terror. If she fled anything, it'd be because there was a bigger, better fight going on somewhere else with the added prospect of fleshy goodstuff for food. But that wasn't happening. The mother load of kickassery was about to happen right here and now, and there was no way in hell she was gonna miss it! Even if it meant doing battle with ... big ... giant ... rocks ... that didn't bleed.

And that chanting. It was annoying. Made her head hurt. Cupping her ears with a forlorn hiss, Juggernaut frowned and dodged a glancing blow to the head. One of the golems was making a bee-line towards her. Its missing arm struck the ground. Mark crumbled where it struck, forming spiderweb cracks. Golem came again, uppercutting this time.

"Hi-hooo!" squealed the V-Act 32. She jumped, combat boots making for a steady landing on the rising boulder-arm. Once on it, she wrapped around like an anaconda, holding on as the golem thrashed violently to get her off.

Another stone warrior was within striking rage. During its tumultuous frantic behavior, Scarlet's golem slammed right into it. Juggernaut jumped off the ride in the knick of time: rock arm collided with rock back. Two hard objects striking so violently were prone to shatter, and that they did. The one that was hit folded in half, upper torso sliding off at the midsection, while the other lost its arm.

Oblivious to the injury, the golem turned to Scar and went on towards her. She stuck her tongue out, raspberrying. "C'mon, rock hard boi! Ain't no lady be's likin' ya if ya keep missin'!"

While Scarlet dealt with her opponents, Entropy and Isala both started searching for targets of their own.

Isala spotted one nearby that was charging towards a group of already busy guards who didn't need another one to deal with. With a quick gesture, she pointed it out to Entropy, then began a few incantations. Entropy took the time to get its attention by tossing a quick fireball its way, blasting a few chunks of rock off its back.

Spinning about, the monster directed its charge towards the two Overlords, but Entropy held out her other hand and sent a stream of wind and bits of rock from the ground flying at it with considerable speed, pelting it and chipping away more bits of its body and slowing it down. The succubus then charged up to it as if she were going to attack in melee, but changed direction and rolled off to the side as soon as it swung its fists down at her.

Thanks to that delay, Isala finished chanting her own spell. Thrusting her hands out towards the golem, she sent a wide beam of blue light at it. Upon contact, ice began spreading over the golem. It tried again to charge at the snow queen, but its movements quickly slowed as the ice continued to cover it until it had stopped completely. With another gesture of Isala's hand, a large boulder of ice formed above the golem's head, then dropped down and shattered it into gravel.

The golems weren't the extent of the army that was showing up here, though. The hole that had been left by the black tentacle continued to widen, and from it suddenly emerged one of the ghostly ships that had been flying around in the skies of the city. This one was larger than the one the castle towers had shot down, though, and was bristling with cannons. While the golems below kept the guards busy, the ship's cannons fired off a round of what looked like large white orbs that streaked into a large group of guards and exploded, sending blood and body parts flying across the room and leaving only a big mess of charred gore where the guards had been. A few golems were caught in this blast as well, but that didn't seem to be a concern.

With the first round of cannon fire discharged, a swarm of winged demons lifted off from the ship's deck and swooped down to join the battle on the ground.

Oh wow.
This sucked.

Battles between guards and golems suddenly became second priority. As Scarlet gained the upper hand and pushed her own enemy into the pit, where it fell and shattered upon hitting the solid floor, a ship entered the arena. White orbs blasted from its depths. One was dangerously close. Juggernaut took heed, bouncing to the side with a warning yell just in time as the orb exploded in a fit of fury and light. Heat blasted all around. Body parts spread throughout, their gory entrails leaking onto the floors and staining the walls. Rock dripped with blood and veins.

On any other occasion, this would have made for a good lunch break. She was still hungry, but as it were she had no desire to feed right now, not with all those winged demonthings coming out to bother them. Pests. She licked her lips, the long protrusion slipping over skin while she stalked forth with claws outstretched and violent mind whirling. Just one nick across the neck would be good enough to get a decent blood flow onto the floor. That décor would be amazing and add to the thrill of the kill. She wanted to do it as soon as one got close.

And it did. One got close, made to attack ... and was downed instantly. Rose red filtered onto the rock crags, seeping everywhere. Fueled by her inner hunger, Scarlet went in a rampage, making short work of whatever came near.

One demon nicked her in the back. A large gash opened in the fabric of her jacket and tore into the ruby skin. Coagulation drew out, nothing more, and Juggernaut didn't even flinch as she wheeled around to smash the offender's face into a rock. Her movements were becoming more forecul, more strong ... more relentless.

Entropy took a moment to think about what she was going to do next. That ship was the biggest threat in the room right now. With only one round of fire, it had leveled a rather large section of the defense force. It would only be a matter of time before it fired again. The succubus would be able to fly up to it, but getting close enough to land was going to be the problem. The air was full of the winged demons, and the ship was sure to have more defenders aboard.

Before she could decide how she was going to deal with this mess, she noticed a golem and one of the winged demons approaching her quickly. Once again, her fear began to intensify. Luckily, she managed to resist the urge to cower down this time, being aware that something unnatural was working against her mind. She still shrunk back a bit, though, prompting Isala to look worriedly at her and move a bit closer, protectively. It turned out to be unnecessary, for despite Entropy's failure to display total confidence, she was still perfectly ready to go this time.

The succubus began by launching at the softer target, the winged demon. As it was a creature of flesh, she didn't see a need to use magic against it, deciding to preserve her mystical energy and use physical force instead. She began by flying straight in at top speed. Then, just as she got within striking distance, she brought her wings around front as a shield. The demon slashed at her, but Entropy caught its claw on this shield, then forced its claw out of the way. With her opponent now wide open, she lunged in and brutally raked it down the torso with one claw, then used the other to grab and rip open its throat.

As the flying enemy began to drop, Entropy pressed her palm against its chest and launched it along with a sizeable fireball down at the golem. The force of the impact and the explosion that immediately followed ripped the winged demon's body apart and knocked the golem off balance. Isala followed this up by creating another ice boulder and sending it flying into the golem, knocking it further off balance. And finally, Entropy finished the affair by diving down and kicking the rock monster repeatedly, forcing it over the ledge and sending it falling down to break apart on the floor below.

The battle, of course, continued to rage on, and the air was already slightly less heavily populated than it had been, as the rest of the defenders were actually worth their salt as warriors. Really, if it weren't for the ship, the battle would be far from one-sided. But Entropy knew that ship was going to need to go down or else the battle would end up swinging the wrong way.

Entrails and spinal columns were but short speckles in Scarlet's very theatrical performance for the world of whatever. Mere seconds after dashing a winged warrior's face against the rocks, splintering bone right into the precious gray matter, the V-ACT 32 wheeled around to vent her rising, boiling hunger on the next couple of unwise and unfortunate victims. Claws sank into the tender midsection of one female-esque villain, who doubled over forward in a rattling groan. Juggernaut yanked her spiked digits up and through the beast's sternum, rupturing the lungs as she went, until her hand got caught in the bone.

"And here," snarled she, lifting the limp corpse into the air with one arm. "We ... " Using it as a flail, Scarlet pummeled over a couple of demons. Legs struck necks to cause whiplash bad enough to damage the spines badly. The particular winged beastie Scar happened to pick up was decked out in battle strips of spike and metal - armor. When those bits of body pieces hit the enemy, they went through the skin, or shattered bone, or ruptured vessels. "Go!"

Infuriated for some reason or another, Scarlet took the cadaver and slammed it into the rock ground a couple of times, then wheeled around and held back her arm ... flinging the corpse ahead in one deft move. Straight for the side of t he ship, with a great deal of force behind it. All the while oblivious to the golem sneaking up behind her until its thunderous step came quickly to her heels and she was picked up by the scruff of her jacket.

It took another few secodns for the red-skinned woman to realize she was being held hostage. Putting her hands in the air as if putting up dukes. "What the feck, ya wanna go baldy?!" A lucid snarl slew from her maw. Spittle flew. "D'ya?"

The demon thrown by Scarlet slammed into the ship with a loud thud, and the spikes of the armor stuck into the ship's hull, leaving the battered corpse stuck there, blood leaking out and entrails hanging freely. While this only counted as minor damage, the ship began turning. Even once the golem grabbed Scar from behind, it continued to turn. When it stopped, a row of cannons was facing directly toward the V-ACT.

Scarlet being grabbed was enough to get Entropy's attention. But seeing the red-skinned woman being targeted by a cannon immediately sent the succubus into a frenzy. She immediately took off into a race to put herself directly between Scar and the ship, for whatever good that would do. If it fired, they would both get blown to pieces.

But it didn't fire. The cannon wasn't finished being reloaded, or recharged, or whatever had to be done to get it ready to fire again. The succubus still had time to do... something. She began to chant something quietly, though her voice was drowned out by the din of battle and the disembodied voices that still filled the air. At the same time, she launched forth to hurtle towards the closest cannon port. As she drew near, several arrows flew down from the deck towards her, but she did a wingover to alter her direction in response and managed to evade most of them and deflect the rest with her wings. But one particularly sharp one, probably enchanted, managed to pierce through the membrane of one of her wings, causing it to immediately fold back up and eliciting an immediate gasp of pain. Luckily, she managed to keep from outright shrieking as she felt the urge to do, for that would have ruined her chant.

Once the volley of arrows had ended, Entropy reached the opening of the cannon port, grabbed the edge, and pulled herself partially in. A terrifically risky thing to do, she knew, as she would not only take an orb directly to the face if the cannon went off, but there was always the chance that a guard would be waiting just inside the hull to lop off her head as soon as it poked in. Luckily, there was no guard there, and the cannon still wasn't ready to fire. Entropy could now see the cannons, though, and the crew of cannoneers working frantically to get them loaded again.

Seeing that Entropy was almost through, one of the crew members grabbed a swabbing rod and rushed her, intent on bashing her on the head with it. But Entropy, finishing her chant just in time, held her hand out, sending a jet of flame rushing forth to engulf her attacker. The jet continued, and Entropy spread it around until the entire corridore was filled with searing fire. Even once the spell ended, the corridore continued to burn. The crew had fallen into chaos immediately, of course, all of them badly burned, many now screaming wildly from pain, and those few who could still move running to escape.

Entropy seriously hoped Scarlet could handle the golem that had grabbed her, but she would have to press this advantage she had gained to keep the cannon corridor from being reclaimed. Pulling herself the rest of the way through the port, the succubus flew after the fleeing crewmembers to slaughter them before they could get away. None of them being in any condition to resist, it wasn't even a challenge. One-by-one, she caught up and ripped into their flesh with her claws, smashed their bones with her fists and feet, and skewered them with her tail. And once the runners were all down, she set about finishing off the ones who had been too badly burned to run. Considering that these people had been preparing to blast Scarlet only moments earlier, she was not inclined to show any mercy here, and perhaps enjoyed herself a bit more than she should have.

--

Outside, Isala saw that it was going to fall upon her to make sure Scarlet wasn't killed by the golem. While the S.T.A.R.S. captain may have only been one combatant in this engagement, she did seem to be a rather strong one, so keeping her alive would most likely be advantageous. Aside from that, the fact that Scarlet was a friend of Entropy's meant that the succubus would appreciate her being protected, though that was a consideration that extended beyond the battle at hand. It was a quick decision, and Isala immediately broke into a run to close the distance. One of the winged demons swept down to block her path, but Isala didn't even slow down, whipping her hand out and sending a spray of small icy spikes flying at the creature that tore through its flesh like a shotgun blast.

But before she could reach the golem, another creature appeared to block her path. Just appeared out of nowhere, directly in front of her, holding a sword straight at her chest, which would have impaled her if she hadn't stopped immediately. She recognized this demon as the same one who had appeared in the throne room earlier. She had heard of him before too, from Entropy and from other sources, but she hadn't seen him in person before. This was Rekka, the master covert operative of the rebel warriors, and Wrathmont's personal assassin.

"Nope," Rekka told her. "You're not going a step further. Wrathmont wants your head."

"I fear that I must disappoint," Isala replied in her usual even voice. "It is unfortunate for him, but I shall be keeping my head in my own possession."

Rekka just grunted at that, then came forth with a quick slash at the snow queen's face. Isala brought up both of her hands, though, and in one quick movement, caught the blade between them. Rekka grunted again and took a stab at her stomach with his dagger, but with another quick movement from Isala, the larger sword twisted out of his hands and into hers, then came down to parry the dagger away. After that, Rekka began backing away. Isala pursued him with a powerful strike with his own sword.

But an instant later, Rekka was not only out of sight, but his sword was too, no longer in the ice queen's hands. Then it suddenly emerged from her stomach, and she suddenly realized that the incubus had teleported behind her. Isala reacted with a shriek of pain and immediately began to feel her strength flowing away...

Down came that large, heavy fist. Stone struck skin, bruising flesh and battering bone until it snapped. Juggernaut was dimly aware of the breaking nose cartilage and even then it was only because she heard the audible ‘pop’. No pain, no gain, and Scarlet could take row upon row of gunfire without crying once, or falling from the agony, tears streaming down her face. No, this beast was a menace of her own accord. Like the definition of her Latin nickname, she was something that could not be stopped once set in motion. That is unless, of course, you are being held up by boisterous golem intent on murdering you because it was told to do so.

Globules of coagulated blood gushed from her torn nostrils. It dripped to the upper lip, curled around into the mouth and the taste was almost erotic. Crazed with hunger, Scarlet’s teeth gnashed together. If only the golem was made of human-ish DNA, or any DNA at all … What a meal something this big would be! Enough to keep her satisfied for days on end, stomach full and content. Her tongue flopped out, teasing the air in undulating patterns of motion. It wrapped about the stone-man’s neck.

”Come get sum, ya pebble!” roared she, forcefully tugging the stubborn neck forth, and the head along with it. The tip of its scalp came close to her open maw. Scarlet bit down on it. So much good that did. A tooth shattered and another ripped in two, but the golem was unharmed. For once, something that was a decent opponent – undead heart throbbing – but could not be killed! By ordinary means anyway.

Without really prompting it, claws scrabbled at her utility pouch. They sifted through until finding the riveted shape they were looking for – a hand grenade, probably the only one left after her entrance in to deep Forest. And behind her, the ship lowered, cannons exposed, aimed, ready … And it didn’t fire. Not that Scarlet cared. Her mind was elsewhere: in particular, thinking of where she could stick that hand grenade. Pulling the pin and holding it until it went boom boom wasn’t an option. After all, she wasn’t about to get blown the hell out of proportion (And what lovely proportions I have … ) So Plan B was put into motion. This golem had its arm blown off. It was bound to have a cavity somewhere or ano – AHA! There! Grinning, the hellfire demon shoved one small but powerful explosive into the hole rigged within this beast’s upper arm.

”It was nice knowin ya,” thrummed Scar, suddenly swinging her feet up again the golem’s stiff neck and pushing herself out of the rock-man’s grasp. Juggernaut fell a few feet away, landing on her knees. ”But y – “

A slice of metal against flesh. Scarlet briefly registered the scent of blood before spinning on her heel, witnessing just in time Isala’s penetration. There was a sword buried in her gut, well to the hilt. And the perpetrator … behind her … Snarling, Scarlet suddenly grabbed the golem by the chest as it began rushing her again. Claws gripped either side of its torso, spinning it around until she forcefully pushed it directly towards Rekka with a ticking time-bomb held within.

”Mebbe we’ll be’s playin’ together in Hell, hard-on!” howled Juggernaut, launching forward to grab the front of Isala’s shirt and yanking her forward and off the sword in one go. She ran, practically dragging the ice queen behind her, not stopping until they were out of range …

The last of the cannon crew slain, Entropy stood waiting in the charred corridore. Soon, more demons were going to be showing up to try and retake the weapons, and Entropy would have to keep them from succeeding. She just wished she wasn't here without any backup. But not much could be done about that. Standing straight, she began to focus, calling up as much mystical power as she could while she had the chance.

--

Isala had fallen to her knees, vision blurring and fading, the taste of blood in her mouth. The blade continued to protrude from her stomach, while behind her, Rekka's dagger was moving in to slash her throat. And since she wasn't immune to the debilitating pain, there was nothing she could do to stop it.

But the killing strike never came. The noise of a stumbling golem stole Rekka's attention one moment, then Isala was pulled from Rekka's blade the next. That was rather painful as well, drawing another gasp. But now that the blade was out of the way...

Pressing a hand over the bleeding wound, Isala closed her eyes again for a moment. A faint bluish glow shone from beneath the hand, and when she removed it the wound had closed.

Rekka, meanwhile, dodged out of the way of the golem to avoid having it fall on him. However, he made the mistake of running alongside it to pursue Scarlet. And so, once the grenade exploded, blasting the golem to pieces, Rekka was blown down as well and showered with rocks and shrapnel.

A moment later, a group of the flying demons landed around his body. While the rest held a defensive stance, one knelt down and placed its hand on a stone that hung from Rekka's belt. Within a few more seconds, both demons suddenly disappeared.

At least Isala was safe from the assassin for now. However, though her wound was healed, her strength was going to take a bit to recover.

"I am... indebted to you... Captain Scarlet," the snow queen declared, straining to speak. 'It would seem that I... owe you my life."

But then, from the direction of the ship, there was another explosion, this one bigger. Another exploding orb had been fired, but not from the cannons this time, and not from the ship. The column in the center of the room had projected it, and the ship had been struck. A second orb fired from the column soon after, this time hitting the ship directly, sending it barrelling down to smash into the corner of one of the room's tiers. And now there were two large holes on the side of the ship where the orbs had struck, and a single gaping hole on the other side where the hull had been smashed open by the floor. The ship slowly began to rise into the air again, but after a second, it crashed right back down onto the ground where it fell over on its side and moved no more.

So now the battleship had been taken out of the battle. The problem was that Entropy was still inside.

"Uh-huh uh-huh."

Scarlet bobbed her head, globules of red flinging this way and that from her busted nose. The V-ACT 32 came to a sudden stop and removed one of the Colts from her side. Not seeming to pay much attention to Isala for the moment, Juggernaut took out one, two, three demons where they stood and found the barrel to be empty when trying to unload a fourth. That sucked ... She holstered it. A demon was racing towards them. Scar drove her remaining hand forward, cleaving into its face with her claws. Jaws, cheeks, and eye sockets were gutted in one go as her fingers protruded out the back of its skull.

"Lezzbe worryin' bout thanks n' stuff later, 'kies?" announced she over the roar of explosives from the column. Scarlet shook the convulsing corpse from her palm. It squelched onto the ground, a nice red puddle forming arounds its head. Now that ooze on her claws looked positively delicious but Juggernaut directed her blind eyes that could not see to the Ice Queen's wound. "Hey, it's sealin' ... " Brow muscles furrowed in surprise. "You be's Healer?"

It now dawned on her that the ship was out of comission. Between the golems and the demons she watched it fall, toppling harmlmessly to its side with splinters flinging this way and that. Kinda pretty ... Wonder if there're any goodies inside?

A long moment of silence ensued. Something wasn't right. Scarlet glanced around. Crimson bulbs dripped from her digits.

"Hey, where's Ent?"
