Wouldn't it be lunch, then? Not supper? Hehe ...

Aaaaaaaanyways ... Ashowan took a sip of the wine, though she spent much of the time peering into the 'murky' depths. The stuff was strong, but never strong enough to knock an undead onto her rear. Ah well. It still tasted delicious, though ... in an aged alcoholic beverage sort of way. The plate of fish rested upon her knees. For the moment, she didn't touch it - the warm originating from the platter felt nice, like when you take clothes out of a dryer and throw them on yourself immediately.

"Ashowan ... ?" No nickname this time? Aww. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We've chosen you to be our guide, to help us settle, for what time my mate and I plan to stay here. But you barely know us. It's a guide's right to ask what they wish, so they can guide with knowledge."

Thoee's tail tuft was held out. "We will not ask further questions in return, Dear Lady, since we already chose you, and trust you to the task."

Deen was grinning. "Not any importa ... *!*" Thoee shushed him by clamping his jaw shut.

"No questions you do not want to answer on your own," she tactfully covered Deen's words, "without either of us asking the question."

Ashowan shrugged, offering a smile that was more reassuring than anything else. "I don't mind the questions," she admitted. "I haven't ever had a lot of people try and pry information from me. I think perhaps they're fearful of what I'd have to say, or worry if I'm too sensitive to indulge them. Of course ... some subjects I'm rather touchy about, but if I don't want to talk about them I'd let you know." Allowing her head to loll from one spot to another, she poked at the fish. Ashowan added in a whisper, "Besides, many of the creatures in these Woods have pasts that haunt them. Getting anybody to talk about their history is likely to show their true vulnerability." Ashowan shook her head. Looking back up (after swallowing a mouthful of cod), she pressed on with, "My only real question: where do you come from, anyways? Not Earth. That's for certain. But I've never heard of, or seen, anything like you on the places I've visited."
</center>
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

One Question...

Post by Roose Hurro »

((Hmmm... in some countries, supper is lunch! Me bad......... *))

The wine Ashowan sipped had been picked specifically to go well with trout... or, really, any fish, for that matter. Light initial taste, fragrant bouquet, hidden punch after the first sip... a playful beverage, not made from Terran grapes. Nor touched by human hands anywhere in its making. In fact, the bottle and its contents came straight from the Nism Homeworld....

Deen made as if to speak, then thought better of it, and sucked on his bitten tongue instead. Thoee took the que, swallowed her mouthful of fish, then sipped a little of her wine in thought...

... "Not many have heard, and those who have seen are few and distant from each other. We don't advertise, and very few are allowed to know us well enough to come for a visit... most worlds see us pass through, and most we... expose ourselves to, keep quiet, so they are not marked as crazy. Or they keep quiet, because alien visits are nothing special, even visits from those they have never seen before."

Thoee nodded, eyes briefly closed...

.... a name flowed from her throat, a series of chirrup-whistle-click-churrs. Exotic, in the way this word-sound evoked a feeling of rainforest and ocean depths. Musical, in the way it lifted the spirit, if only for the short time it was spoken. Alien, in the way it sounded like a blending of birdcall and whalesong and... sounds not quite identifiable, held on the tip of one's tongue. In pattern, the same language Thoee and Deen had exchanged earlier, while walking towards the River. And yet, infused with a feeling of Age...

... "This is the name our Creators gave their Homeworld, long before we existed. The name they gave to us... Nism... their Creation, they took from other tongues, so it could be shared with those we met, not lost in translation."

Thoee touched hand to snout, dipped her head, and...

... "I am sorry, Ashowan, it is hard to say exactly where. Deen and I know where home is, but not in relation to where we presently are. No, we are not from Earth or from here. Yes, our Home is far away, distant, yet only a single step will take us there."

Deen set his plate aside, after making sure he'd licked it thoroughly clean. Half his glass was empty... the other half, full. So, he took a swallow, swished the contents gently around, then...

... "What my Sweetness is trying to say? It might be easier to show you, if we brought out the Camera. But... well, using the Camera is very personal, and I'm not sure if you'd be willing to go through the linking process... it's quick, but it involves blood, and a form and depth of sharing you might not be comfortable with, even after what happened with Rotor........."

[OoC: I think I know which countries you are referring to. :P My bad, then. Or maybe we both goofed. =D]

Noticing the way Deen seemed to be prepared to speak, only to hesitate and bite his tongue at the last moment, Ashowan began to wonder if it was a good idea to ask that question. Part of her mind quipped that it was a simple inquiry ... She hadn't known it might strike a nerve. But then, it was hard to tell with so many creatures in these Woods with their dark histories and their longed-to-be-forgotten pasts. How could she know that Thoee and Deen would fall into that category? Then Thoee took the cue, sipping her wine and swallowing her fish before speaking in a soft tone.

"Not many have heard," she explained carefully, "and those who have seen are few and distant from each other. We don't advertise, and very few are allowed to know us well enough to come for a visit ... most worlds see us pass through, and most we ... expose ourselves to, keep quiet, so they are not marked as crazy." This caused Ashowan to raise a brow. Marked as crazy? Surely their world was not that bad ... was it? "Or they keep quiet, because alien visits are nothing special, even visits from those they have never seen before." The Reaper opened her mouth to object - the Nism needn't say any more. But she was quicker and spoke first, eyes briefly closed.

Except ... what she said weren't really words. It was a noise - a sound: animalistic translation. A series of chirrups and whistles, tuned with clicks of varying altitudes and volumes. There was something exotic about it ... yet concrete. It took Ashowan a moment to realize that she was actually trying to say something ... but in a language that the Reaper could not understand. Was that ... ?

"This is the name our Creators gave their Homeworld," Thoee answered, confirming Ashowan's suspicions, "long before we existed. The name they gave to us ... Nism ... their Creation, they took from other tongues, so it could be shared with those we met, not lost in translation."

"Wonder what the original sounds like," Ashowan mused to herself, not loud enough to be heard. How strange ... yet the oddly vocalized name sounded beautiful. Like a choir of birds on high.

Thoee touched hand to snout and dipped her head low. "I am sorry, Ashowan, it is hard to say exactly where. Deen and I know where home is, but not in relation to where we presently are. No, we are not from Earth or here."

Ashowan shrugged her shoulder, looking nonchalant. "S'okay. I'm not bothered."

"Yes, our Home is far away, distant, yet only a single step will take us there."

Ashowan didn't know what to make of that. It sounded like an invite. She blinked. Deen cut in, pushing his plate aside and sipping his wine. The Reaper downed another bite and took a sip of her own thirst-quenching material.

"What my Sweetness is trying to say? It might be easier to show you, if we brought out the Camera." Haha, a camera! "But ... well, using the Camera is very personal, and I'm not sure you'd be willing to go through the linking process ... it's quick, but it involves blood, and a form and depth of sharing you might not be comfortable with, even after what happened with Rotor ... "

Rotor? A far away look glazed over the Reaper's eyes. They hadn't seen what was in her mind at the time, had they? She thought she was well-guarded. They might have caught a drift of darker thoughts ... mingling senses of danger and ominous auras ... but nothing that revealed too much of her. Shaking her head, she grinned a bit sheepishly. "It's not that I'm worried about. But I'm not for prying into other's business. I didn't realize bringing up the world you come from would disturb you and I have no wish to poke at tender subjects ... "

Touched...

Post by Roose Hurro »

It wasn't the question that made Deen hesitate and suck his tongue... he just didn't want Thoee making him bite his tongue, again. A safety measure, if you will. Let her speak, and he would be less likely to suffer another clamping, should his mouth get out of control. His way of passing the buck... or the batton... or whatever trite phrase might fit his situation. Even so, the question Ashowan asked, while not in any way a "tender subject", still presented difficulties in the straight answer department. Threshhold was not like traveling by starship, with a navigation system to give you hard numbers, and all the tech-backup. Traveling Threshhold fell into a more instictual catagory, and was anything but pinpoint precise. Easily diverted by Advents, natural and otherwise... sometimes, even lost, under certain stresses... but always finding its way back to its Nism host. Touched, but not explainable in anything close to technical terms. A gift of their Creators, out of many, but perhaps the least understood, even after all this time over which they'd used it.........

Sorta like the difficulty many would have describing Faith.........

However, Thoee hadn't meant to sound disturbed, and Deen...?

... "It's not prying...." He gave his mate a shoulder-hug... "It's not disturbing. Or a tender subject. WorldWalking is an art, not a science... millions of years, casual use, no need for maintenence or other care... no words to properly explain how this works." Deen used a claw to trace on the rock... "We start here..." *scriiitch* "... we end here, but we don't ever get to see the middle. And there's another aspect." Deen gave Ashowan a cheeky grin and a slight roll of eyes... "When we came here... when we first arrived in Deep Forest, it hadn't been our destination. Only this world... this planet we're sitting on, right now... we only wanted to find a quiet, isolated, extremely remote and uncivilized private place for some... ahhh, hrrr..." He gave Thoee a sideways glance, looking for any signs of thin ice... "adult entertainment."

Thoee continued to eat her fish and drink her wine with elegance and grace. Deen breathed a little easier, his eyes aimed towards his female, affectionate and grateful...

... "We've earned a rep here, and I'm a pantless animal right now, I'll freely admit. No shame, and no reason for it. But we were born to a species created to be totally free in spirit... our mantra, if you will... yet highly civilized and cultured. Far from being all-knowing, all-powerful, or anywhere near Godly in wisdom, even after millions of years experience in Life."

Thoee's claws played with Deen's mane... ruffled the fur on his head, causing him to voice a rumbled purr and sigh of enjoyment. She spoke...

... "To put all his words in perspective, our people have no tender subjects to poke...."

As for Ashowan's darker thoughts? No, they hadn't seen hers... but they had perhaps all seen the strangeness, and felt the pain of Rotor's own......... *

It didn't really matter what Deen or Thoee meant or how they intended their actions to be perceived. Ashowan was reacting by what she saw, not what was going on in their heads - there was no way she'd be able to pry into their skulls and figure out exactly what was sliding between the tissues of gray matter. She could only guess ... And going by their expressions, the Reaper had a subtle feeling she stepped on a subject the Nisms would rather she didn't.

"It's not prying ... ," Deen said while giving a shoulder hug to his mate. Ashowan untensed a little, feeling relieved. The Reaper didn't like pushing others in directions unless it was absolutely necessary (like forcing other to leave a designated planet while she stayed behind to fight to the death ... something which would occur in a very near future). "It's not disturbing. Or a tender subject. WorldWalking is an art, not a science ... millions of years, casual use, no need for maintenance or other care ... no words to properly explain how this works." The male Nism resorted to tracing on a rock. "We start here ... we end here, but we don't ever get to see the middle. And there's another aspect." A cheeky grin. "When we came here ... when we first arrived in Deep Forest, it hadn't been our destination. Only this world ... this planet we're sitting on, right now ... we only wanted to find a quiet, isolated, extremely remote and uncivilized private place for some ... ahhh, hrrr ... adult entertainment."

It took a great effort to keep from quipping something. "So basically you took a wrong turn at Albuquerque." Ashowan's own plate was empty now. She pushed at the crumbs but held onto the platter. It still retained some warmth.

"We earned a rep here, and I'm a pantless animal right now. I'll freely admit. No shame, and no reason for it. But we were born to a species created to be totally free in spirit ... our mantra, if you will ... yet highly civilized and cultured. Far from being all-knowing, all-powerful, or anywhere near Godly in wisdom, even after millions of years experience in Life."

It was Thoee's turn to speak, done while playing with the fuzz that was on Deen's head. "To put all his words in perspective, our people have no tender subjects to poke ... "

Feeling a little less guarded now, she loosened her defenses and nodded. "You would fit perfectly in a nudist colony," she laughed. Turning serious ... although somewhat light-hearted ... her tone lowered and became firm. "It would be an honor to catch a glimpse of your home world, and I'd swear to silence - I never entrust others with somebody's secrets unless I am speaking to the person who bore them to me in the first place."

The Camera...

Post by Roose Hurro »

Deen had given a cheeky nod at Ashowan's quip about "wrong turns" and "nudist colonies".........

Deen sighed, as Thoee's fingers slid from mane to shroudruff. His hands dropped to his lap, tail whipped up over his thighs, where fingers wrapped around tail, working along a section of its length in a form of massage. Thoee finished her fish and grilled veggies, spiced just right, and well complimented by the wine. Then, her voice carried its own firmness...

... "And we are honored to provide the invitation, and to trust your silence on private matters." She nodded, gave her mate a little push with the hand held to his shroudruff...

... "Yes, Sweetness...." Deen rolled his eyes, gave Ashowan a grin, released his tail and got up off his duff, to go fetch the Camera. As before, when Thoee had fetched the grill, he paced off a ways, lept, and got swallowed up by air, from tip of nose to tip of tail.

Thoee couldn't help but giggle and shake her head, remembering Ashowan's comment about nudists, as she watched her mate go, and admired his sexy bod as it moved...

... "Yes, you could accurately describe our entire world with the words nudist colony. I hope you are not easily embarrassed by... how shall I put this... free expression."

Ping! (cheesy, non-existant sound effect...)

Just as he'd left, Deen returned, only this time, holding a Device... cold crystal and warm metal matrix, its lensing and folded tesseract structure, an oddly spherical cubism, glittering in the firelight, as he returned to his seat, and held it out for the Reaper to see.........

Their reactions to her statement about the nudist colonies found on Earth - though Ashowan had never been to any of them, thankfully - was humorous. Deen gave a cheeky nod, but then sighed as Thoee gave a type of 'massage' to the guy. The fae, in the meantime, finished off her food and spoke with a type of firmness that was not at all laced with wine ingestion.

"And we are honored to provide the invitation, and to trust your silence on private matters." She nodded. Ashowan dipped her head out of respect, though she was starting to wonder if this was a bright idea ... or the right one. She couldn't help but feel like she was prying ...

Thoee pushed her mate into a stand. In reaction, Deen rolled his eyes. "Yes, Sweetness ... " He offered Ashowan a grin and was off, teleporting in the same manner that Thoee did earlier. (Speaking of the grill, it was still standing, spotless, where it had been when it was being used). Ashowan gaped after Deen, shaking her head.

"I've never seen anybody teleport in that manner. The jumping, I mean." The Reaper shrugged and glanced at the giggling Thoee. A brow quirked. What was so funny?

"Yes, you could accurately describe our entire world with the words nudist colony," she explained. "I hope you are not easily embarrassed by ... how shall I put this ... free expression."

A mental image crossed her mind and she suddenly saw herself rolling on the ground laughing in the middle of Thoee and Deen's home planet. Shaking the thought aside, she gave an awkward smile to Thoee and pointed a thumb to her own skull, prodding it. "A friend of mine, a starving artist if you will, taught me once that when you concentrate on something hard enough, all other details will fade out." The implication was that their world would provide the distraction needed to divert attention away from lack of clothes. "Besides, we have this guy in the city I come from. He plays guitar stark naked on the sidewalk all the time, and instead of earning everybody's disgust ... he's practically a celebrity."

Of course it had been years since she'd been in New York. She had no idea what happened to that guy ... Just then, Deen came back. He was holding something - a device of cold crystal and warm metal, swirling into a strange matrix nd forming all sorts of neat odds and ends. He held it out so that Ashowan could see. She blinked.

"Not your normal Vivitar, eh?" she joked, tilting her head. "Looks advanced."
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

The Camera, Two...

Post by Roose Hurro »

Deen made a face, a mental image of his own created by the Reaper's words of TMI. A face part OMG and hurl, rolled into a unified whole...

... "Urrrk-bleeeackthhhpt! Please, I just ate! Human naked is so gross...." Deen used his free hand, the one not holding the Camera... which Thoee quickly removed from his grasp... to gesture over his crotch, one finger held out and wiggled limply... "And human females have these...." With both of his hands now free, he cupped the air in front of his chest, and made a squeazy-juggle gesture......... *

*......... WHAP!

Thoee's tail tuft firmly and uneringly found the back of her mate's head. She tsk-tsk'd at him, then...

... "Sorry, Ashowan... he can be a handful, at times." She grabbed his thigh, and let her claws prick lightly through fur, dangerously close to some... valuable assets. She sighed. However, a smile... "But never boring, from the very day I first met him."

Her grip loosed from Deen's thigh, and that hand joined the other, cupped the Camera, and held it out again. While Deen rubbed back of head and sore thigh, Thoee continued, on the subject at hand...

... "This Camera is one of only a thousand made... a Gift given to us by our Creators over six million years ago, to give us access to their History, and for us to record our own. My familial Bloodline has been honored to care for this one, and I have been entrusted with its use, during my WorldWalk with Deen."

Thoee moved off the rock, and crouched down closer to Ashowan...

... "There is one thing you must be told... To share our World, to view what is within, one must be either there when the recording was made, or... share the experience within another who was. To link with the Camera, and view our World, you must share my blood, and my viewpoint within." Thoee closed her eyes and dipped her head down... "If you still wish to share, when such an intimate bond is offered by one not of Family...."

She still held the Camera up, within the Reaper's reach, in offering.........

Deen's face screwed up. "Urrrk-bleeeack thhhpt! Please, I just ate! Human naked is so gross ... " Though Ashowan probably shouldn't be laughing, she felt infinitely proud at having grossed Deen out. Bihotch. It was his turn to turn green. But when the gestures started the woman slapped her forehead and groaned. Oh god ... "And human females have these ... " Sho looked up in time to see his 'dance'. And was gone. She was laughing too hard.

WHAP! Thoee smacked the back of Deen's head with her tail, tsk-ing him. She turned to the Reaper. "Sorry, Ashowan ... he can be a handful at times." Thoee grabbed the male's thigh and ... whoa. "But never boring, from the very day I first met him." The Reaper stood and clapped her hands together, suddenly eager to change the subject. If she were capable of sweatdropping, a massive one would have devoured half of her head.

"Anyway ... !"

Either Thoee caught the hint or decided it was time to move along, for suddenly the conversation shifted to the camera. "The Camera is one of only a thousand made ... a Gift given to us by our Creators over six million years ago, to give us access to their History, and for us to record our own. My familial Bloodline has been honored to care for this one, and I have been entrusted with its use, during my WorldWalk with Deen." Worldwalk? Thoee inched closer to the Reaper. Strange eyes followed the movements. "There is one thing you must be told ... To share our World, to view what is within, one must be either there when the recording was made, or ... share the experience within another who was. To link with the Camera, and view our World, you must share my blood, and my viewpoint within." The Nism dipped her head, eyes closing. "If you still wish to share, when such an intimate bond is offered by one not of Family ... "

The Camera was being held out for her to ... to what? The Reaper gulped, but the noise went largely unnoticed. Should she share? One wrong move and they might get a glimpse of things they shouldn't see ... Kuro, she thought to herself, sorely hoping that the bastard wasn't too interested in this odd occurrence. He had played with her head for long enough. He wouldn't seek to mess with Thoee's and Deen's ... would he? Sensing his laugh, the Reaper shook her head and picked up some courage. If Kuro did ... then she would bat him back down. She stretched a hand out to the Camera. "I accept only under the terms that it is alright with you."
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

The Camera, Three...

Post by Roose Hurro »

Ashowan's worries were all for naught. She would be only an outside visitor, her consciousness riding within the female Nism's recorded body and memories. Thoee's present consciousness would simply ride along with her past self. Neither would be able to influence this record of the past, nor invade each other's thoughts, as they journeyed Within. Ashowan would share the past Thoee's body and mind as if she'd been the one to live these memories... yes, also able to look on from the outside, as a neutral observer, but linked intimately to the emotional feelings and physical sensations of a Nism female.........

Thoee set the Camera into Ashowan's hands, then fetched the Reaper's glass, poured a bit more wine, set it down...

... punctured her wrist with a thumbclaw, and let blood drip into the wine...

... "Please, drink this, and we can begin."

Thoee licked the blood from her wound, and pressed it to her thigh. She would have to hold off regeneration, until Ashowan drank the mixture.........

Was it that way, then? Ashowan did not know this. She would have to find out when the time came, and only then would her worries be abated. For now, however ... a bit of trepidation clung to her heart when Thoee set the Camera into her hand. The Nism fetched the Reaper her emptied glass and poured more wine for her. Bright green eyes trailed after the being, watching with a strange feeling creeping up her arms - a tingling sensation. Excitement?

Then Thoee slit her wrist and dropped blood into the drink. Part of Ashowan was disgusted by the notion - blood wine? What was she, a vampire? But the rest of her, 75%, was intrigued. Memories ingrained through the blood of a living being. Bizarre ...

"Please, drink this, and we can begin."

Staring down at the glass, she reached over with her free hand and picked it up. Eyes roved over the pristine liquids, zoning in on the droplets of red that smeared into the rest of the substance like solute and solvent. Shaking her head and sighing, she closed her eyes. "Bottoms up!" She threw the glass back, chugging it in a single gulp.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

The Camera, Four...

Post by Roose Hurro »

While Ashowan chugged, Deen came forward to join his mate, both of them crouched down on their haunches, side by side, waiting. After the chug, Thoee took the glass from the Reaper's hand, guided her down to sit with them, so she would be at their level, eye to eye.

Deen touched the Camera on one side, with his left hand...

Thoee touched the Camera on the opposite side, with her right...

Ashowan already touched the Camera's bottom lens with both of her own hands, as she had been instructed to hold it, so all she had to do was look into the Camera, as requested......... *

Odd, this feeling of a whole Universe unfolding, while one's physical/spiritual essense collapses in on itself... this explode/implode sensation. The world you knew, only an instant before...

... gone.

You remember yourself, but you also remember things not of yourself...

... feel things...

... see things...

... hear things...

... scent things...

... taste things...

... perceive the flow and thrum of life, all around you! Live within that Life, experience a vividness of Spirit and Warmth, of Pure Freedom and Insight, beyond what your old self would ever have thought possible in its wildest dreams!

You are Thoee, of the Bloodline Rurrumm.........

There was something very fuzzy about the whole situation. It all became so damned … ethereal. Not right. Not clear. Everything felt off the wall and misted. She couldn’t quite explain it. Numbly lowering the glass from her lips, Ashowan was only vaguely aware of Thoee and Deen as they came close. One stripped the wine glass from her palm. Then both of them guided her to sit beside them; Eye to eye, apparently, because she was suddenly as tall as them.

Deen touched one end of the Camera. Thoee touched the other end. All three hands were connecting to one familiar, universal object. Something triggered a reaction from the Camera. Or maybe it was just Ashowan, who felt a little nauseated. There was one distinct humored thought of,Did they lace the wine with something? If so … wish they’d give me some … , before a feeling of cataclysm grasped her innards by their ends.

A distinct notion of the bending and breaking and unwinding of some untouchable contortion … a thing so far out of reach that one could only hope to one day poke at it, and never live to see that day come and go. It was so hard to explain, so hard to understand. But the Reaper’s vision and hearing and feeling had gone askew and she was seeing and hearing and feeling things that normal beings should never see or hear or feel ... Suddenly, Ashowan was not alone. Memories and thoughts raced by that were not of her own creation. Warmth. In a brief instant Ashowan saw a mirror image and recognized not herself … but Thoee.

She was Thoee.

Or sharing her thoughts …

Inside, Ashowan laughed. Trippy.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be."

Into The Camera...

There was something very fuzzy about the whole situation. It all became so damned … ethereal. Not right. Not clear. Everything felt off the wall and misted. She couldn’t quite explain it......... *

Perhaps a bit too much of an alien blood-mixed wine, before her trip through the "Looking Glass"...?

Feel things...

... The wind on fur and scale, nothing between the movement of cool air and sensation, from tip of ears to tip of tail.

... Soft grass underfoot, damp, slide of muscle under skin with each graceful swing of limb and curve of body.

... Rapid pulse of Heartstone, sensation of cool air breathed deeply, chest rising and falling.

... Strength and warmth of a male's affectionate touch.

... Love.

See things...

... A deep blue sky tainted yellow and orange and red, through air and under cloud, by an approaching sunset.

... Vegitation all shades of green, with reds and blues and... so many colors of tree, leaf and flower, grass and bush and... the One Tree, in the distance. Vinnaheen's Tree, favorite of the Last Creator, distinct in its bare branches, in its lack of color and life, worn smooth and gray by time and careful preservation, over the last five million years. Everything else in sight, a Living Garden. All of it, lit and painted differently than midday's hues, by the glory of a setting sun.

... Constructions, rising and blending with the Garden's Life, homes and other organic architetural structures, woven into a vast city part seen, part unseen, but still there, as much a part of the World as the Garden and the Mountains and the Rivers and the Lakes.

... Wildlife, also, freely roaming and hopping and flying, without fear or restraint.

... Handsome male presently beyond arms reach, given a glance, a smile, and... very warm and intimate thoughts.

Hear things...

... Windsong in the trees, near and distant sounds of voice and nature

... Rythym of Life, Beat of Heart, Song of Mind. Humm of energy through bones.

... Your voice, and the voice of that strong, warm, affectionate, handsome... sexy male, someone you have waited so long for, to have as your mate. Words spoken in the tongue of your birth.

Scent things...

... Flowers, grass, trees, storm-charged and freshly rain-washed air... everything familiar, and yet, today, a-burst with special meaning.

... A male... your male, as you give him a hug loaded with love and excitement, and sniff deeply, snout teasing shroudruff and neck.

Taste things...

... Moisture in the air, tainted with wind-scattered pollen and recent thunder.

... A memory, of meals just past.

... A lick to male cheek, another tease.

Thoee looked out over the city Cossa, part of Rurrumm Territory, since the very Beginning. One thousand original Creators... one thousand original Bloodlines... one thousand original Territories. And one thousand Cameras. This was an event to record, indeed! And she... and Deen... had one of those Cameras, to use on their WorldWalk. Not every newly bonded couple had that honor...

... "Quickly, Love! Avanzzi will arrive soon... let us not be late!"

A strong male voice...

... "Alright, Sweetness, can't leave before everything's set proper...." Indeed, they wouldn't be back home for the next twenty to thirty years, and he wanted to make sure everything would be ready for their departure at the morning's sunrise... everything set, so they would be able to spend their last night Home, after this evening's celebrations, doing nothing but the things newly mated couples did naturally. Not that they hadn't already enjoyed each other's... company, today. Deen finished the final touches to their shelter's preparations, then joined his mate in the entryway....

Thoee gave her male a close hug, the energy running through her bones just singing through her senses, as she sniffed his scent and ran her snout over fur and feathers. After her hug, a lick to cheek.........

......... Both... both of them running over the World, moist grass underfoot, steps light, down on all fours... laughter, shouts... chasing, one after the other, male batting female tail tuft in play!

But it didn't take long to cross the edge of city Cossa proper, run out over the Meadow Garden, all the way to Vinnaheen's Tree, where others also gathered. Other new couples, also leaving on their WorldWalks, and mates yet to be. Infants with parents. Children, youths, young pairs and the elderly. All arrivals, by land or by sky, excited... each in their own way, and for their own reasons... excited to bear witness, and ready to enjoy the celebration...

... the send-off Blessing of WorldWalkers.

Too much wine? No. Disillusionment? Yes. Ashowan was presently torn between the here and now, confused and lost and not sure what to think. She had never done something like this before - it was not one bit like teleportation, or tugging the Globe Strands in the Void. Bizarre sensations were all around, affecting here as though she were one with Thoee. Wind on the skin; Grass; Vegetation like nothing she had ever seen, that truly took her breath away - so colorful!; Scents of flowers and close personas; moisture on the tongue, as well as something else that had the Reaper choosing whether she should internally laugh at bitter irony or shirk away.

"Quickly, Love!" That was Thoee's voice. Ashowan/Thoee was looking out at a massive, vast and beautiful city. It seemed to very old. "Avanzii will arrive soon ... let us not be late!" It was strange to be speaking out of her own mouth ... but not, at the same time.

Alright, Sweetness," said Deen?, "can't leave before everything's set proper ... " Facts slid into Ashowan's head and she couldn't help but mull over them. A trip for twenty to thirty years? Well no wonder Deen wanted to make sure everything was right and ready. Ashowan/Thoee hugged her mate, licked his cheek - Whoa whoa! cried Ashowan's mind, for she was not used to and typically very unwelcome of such gestures, but she did not speak loud enough for Thoee to hear, not wanting to cause the Nism to drop this 'Cameraview' and bring them back to Deep Forest yet - and suddenly they were latched in a game of catch and chase. The Reaper found herself laughing with the fae Nism, actually kind of enjoying herself ...

A strange notion: So long ago, Ashowan had been the same - playful, laughing with her sister, sharing childish smiles. Times lost.

Then they were crossing the edge of the city's proper and bolting over a garden ... and finally to a tree stripped of color, feeling and smelling and appearing so extremely ancient. V ... Vinn ... Vinnaheen's Tree, that. Others were gathered there: more couples, children with their young, elderly Nisms. All of them were excited ... a celebration?

Blessing of WorldWalkers.

Curiosity struck the Reaper and she was suddenly all-too eager to kick back, try to relax her ulterior discomfort.

... but she did not speak loud enough for Thoee to hear.........

No, even had Ashowan spoken out loud, no one would have heard her. Thoee of the present was reliving a past memory with the Reaper, just as Deen was reliving his own past memories, within his recorded self, as if the future hadn't happened yet... total immersion. VR6, if you will. For Thoee and Ashowan, two sharing one body and one mind...

... yet Ashowan, the outsider, still aware of her own past and present, as she lived within a Nism female, as if born there. Nothing hidden, every sense vividly stimulated in the moment, everything real and touchable and intense, far above what any human... or human/dragon/undead cross... could ever experience in real life, or in dream. Thoee's everyday perceptions of the Universe, her World, and the Body within which she Lived. Senses deep within, senses deep without. Biosense, drinking in Life... the life and living all about... plant, animal, Nism... all the same, all different, all exciting. And still more to come.

Thoee watched the children at play. Watched the sub-adult youths group together, a mix of unrelated friends and blood-siblings, talking and posturing. Watched the other young pairs, those... like her and Deen... waiting for their Blessing... and those young pairs still courting, who had come to see what the future held for them. Young males, proudly displaying their shroudruffs... their chosen females, giving them looks, teasing them with touches and offers of chaseplay, for later...

... then all eyes towards the sky! All those young pairs, suddenly alert, gathering together before the One Tree. Thoee and Deen, both down on their haunches, hip to hip... Thoee, with her hand slipped underneath Deen's shroudruff feathers, fingers holding soft warm fur, as his feathers flared a bit, in response to her touch and nervous tension. A cheek-lick from him, in return for her earlier gift, a way to calm her... with affection and open love in his forest green eyes, as he snuggled even closer...

... and Avanzzi arrived.

First, just a dot on the sunset. A kick of wind as herald. Moments later, her form sliding gracefully down from the sky, to land on a bare branch. Her usual perch on the One Tree... her eyes, so deeply blue, they seemed to glow... her age, so great her fur and scales stood out black as night against the colors of the sun's setting, from tip of nose to tip of tail's tuft. Slow yet powerful grace in her movements, as she looked out over the assembled watchers. Even the animals...

... the birds...

... the insects...

... all gathered now, all came to the One Tree, to take their part in what was to come! Vinnaheen's Tree, so long dead, within a few brief moments, roots covered and trunk surrounded by furry-scaled warmth, branches filled with the feathers and buzz of Life!

[OoC: Short. Sorry. :P]

Total immersion, that was what this was like. Ashowan was helpless to watch what happened within and without, glimpsing hints and thoughts and happenings without being able to quip or comment or close her eyes against them. A lot of this she didn't mind - the visuals of this world, the sounds it made, the vibrant colors and scents and everything was incredible. It was the more private thoughts that bugged her and made the Reaper cringe. She wasn't one for closeness. Even if it was Thoee's memory she was living, the obvious but innocent intimacy going on with Deen was ... It made the Ashowan invisible to everything and totally unseen shrink back, cringing.

Through the eyes of Thoee, Ashowan watched children frolic and play and laugh and enjoy their lives. It made her heart ache, but facial expressions remained stoic and solid. Not a single change wrought upon her eyes, if anybody could see them. Nisms everywhere were partaking in some kind of activity until the sky ... something in the sky! All eyes turned towards it. The young pairs in the area gathered towards the Tree. Deen and her dropped to their haunches, hip to hip. More with the physical contact. Ashowan winced, despite the warmth. But her curiosity was grabbed by something above -

A ... Avanzii? That was the name ... He started as nothing more than a pinprick of color in the vast atmosphere, slowly growing in width and height as he drew closer to the planet below. Oh wait ... her, not him. She landed on a branch, pristine blue eyes that stood out from darkened fur and feathers and scales. Avanzzi looked out over the creatures gathered underneath the Tree. In response came a flurry of creatures: insects, bugs, avians and small mammals ... they all flocked to the dead limbs to take perch.

What is ... ?

A moment of silence......... *

Those pairs with new offspring and young children in tow... past WorldWalkers, now home to breed... they spread out in family groups, behind those not yet mated... and those young pairs not yet WorldWalkers, who awaited their Blessing. They stood briefly within the moment of silence, then also settled down on their haunches, huddled together as witnesses. Also within the silence, more birds, larger birds, flew in from all points of the compass, through skies heading for twilight. Great Birds, matched in pairs, settling on nearby... living... trees. Settled in a circle around those gathered before Avanzzi, the Rurrumm Bloodline Elder Matriarch of Cossa...

... and Thoee's great grandmother.

Birdwings opened....

"Long ago, our Creators gave us Life, and left us their World to care for and cherish. They also gave us our Spirits, our curiosity and desire to explore Beyond, to seek out Life everywhere." Avanzzi made a slow, ritual gesture to the other creature's sharing the One Tree... "We perch on Vinnaheen's Tree to honor her, the Last Creator. We all gather here, to witness and celebrate the Spirit of New Bondings, made out of Love... to see those who will leave us on Life's Adventure, who go to seek in the Great Beyond." Her tail's tuft gestured upwards, towards a sky not yet full of stars... "Who go to live Life to its Fullest, before they return to make Life for the Future, as all mates do. Cherish Life... Cherish your Children... seek to Learn and to Grow, so one day you may Understand the Wisdom of our Creators, and how Great a Gift they have Given us...."

As her words faded, another sound touched the air. The Great Bird pairs lifted their voices in song... that song, echoed by their feathered kin perched on Vinnaheen's Tree...

... echoed by the insects...

... echoed by the creatures furred and scaled, warming the One Tree's roots.

Then echoed by the outer gathering of families, the middle gathering of those not yet mated, and the inner group of those soon to WorldWalk. Thoee and Deen, both singing in step with each other, two as One, lost in the Music of Nature. Then...

... Avanzzi, lifting her own voice in couterpoint, that counterpoint spreading, reflecting back... caught up, changed again, a back and forth wave, as the sun slipped beyond the horizon. And twilight fell.........

Only now did Ashowan notice the bundles and bundles of Nisms gathered outside the main circle which held couples old and young. These ‘bundles’ were accompanied by children: families. It was kind of adorable and touching. She wondered how old some of them were. The children looked from anywhere between a month to fourteen or so years … But who knew how long fourteen years was to a Nism. Some of them could be hundreds of years old, for all she knew, but grew physically and mentally slow. Different species aged differently. Ashowan’s own surrogative sister was over one-thousand years old. According to her genre of creature, however, she was technically only seven.

Strange the way these worlds worked …

The female elder, Avanzzi (Rurrumm Bloodline Elder Matriarch and Thoee’s great grandmother), prepared to speak. The opening of many pairs of bird wings accompanied the ensuing vocal: ”Long ago,” she began, gesturing to those nesting in the One Tree, ”our Creators gave us Life, and left us their World to care for and cherish. They also gave us our Spirits, our curiosity and desire to explore Beyond, to seek out Life everywhere.” Ashowan briefly wondered if ‘the Creators’ was an alias for
It, the ‘god’ who created Kamiri and many planets … ”We perch on Vinnaheen’s Tree to honor her, the Last creator. We all gather here, to witness and celebrate the Spirit of New Bondings, made out of Love … to see those who will leave us on Life’s Adventure, who go to seek in the Great Beyond.” A tuft of tail pointed skywards. Dusk had fallen but no stars awoke. ”Who go to live Life to its Fullest, before they return to make Life for the Future, as all mates do. Cherish Life … Cherish your Children … seek to Learn and to Grow, so one day you may Understand the Widsom of our Creators, and how Great a Gift that have Given us … “

With the tapering of her notes, the birds about began to chirp, to sing, to call out. Their choir was joined by the Nisms’ multitude. Thoee and Deen joined in. It was a strange experience to sing a song that she had never heard before, but Ashowan had to admit that both the Nisms in her company were excellent vocalists. Avanzzi’s chimed, her’s switching and mixing while the stars unveiled themselves to the world below …

But Ashowan’s mind was elsewhere. She had finally figure out the purpose of Thoee and Deen’s journey to Deep Forest. It was but a brief visit: a pit-stop in a line journey. Soon they would leave and never come back. The half-dragon felt a little bad at that, but elated all the same. With Deep Forest one world down, the closer the end of their travel became. Soon they would become parents themselves to teach their young the ways of the Nism and the ‘Creators’. It was endearing, cement, and very real.

Yes, everything was very Real......... *

Stars overhead, twinkling faint and bright. Constellations unknown... known only to the Nism. A swath of stars and their light, like our Milky Way. Even a small, odd patch visible now, towards the east. A colorful nebula, a nursery for newborn stars, wiped across the heavens like a thumbprint's smudge. Close enough to see with the naked eye...

... seen by Thoee's eyes, as the music and song moved deeper, and everyone rose up, to dance under the stars...

... to dance around Vinnaheen's favorite tree. Even Avanzzi danced on her perch, along with the birds. Stepped lightly from branch to branch, as the birds played round-robin, and fluttered after her tail. As the insects rose in a cloud, shimmer of their wings giving the illusion the One Tree lived again, wreathed in wind-rustled leaves.

Thoee danced with her mate... with her Deen... touch of hands, touch of tails, brush of fur. Eyes and ears and tongues, noses and biosenses... and hearts, the rush of blood, the thrill of Life... All of Everything, completely taking over, as the music made skin shiver and fur ruffle with its rythym and intensity. This continued onward, till the moons rose in the night...

... one.

... two.

... three.

Not very large moons, but large enough to each have stable orbits...

... Gan...

... Jun...

... Tin...

... their simple names.

The music faded, slid into cheers, as all the new WorldWalkers found themselves surrounded by the others present, ready to give out their congrats...

... while more time passed.

Then quiet. All the birds, bugs and animals, settled... all the Nism, back in their earlier places. Avanzzi, her grace undiminished, back on her perchspot branch, bowing to the Blessed. Then...

... her short leap off, her footsteps over grass. Each couple, given a touch to their chests, contact of forehead scale to forehead scale, till she came to Thoee and Deen, cuddled together as they'd waited. A smile to her great granddaughter, after her touch. A wink to Deen...

... "Care for her well."

Four simple words that held layers of implication and suggestion.........
